  5. Dankie oom ...
  6. Pretty much how we did it in 2017, my first Double Century. Still my first Double Century. Literally a last minute dot com DC entry after a Cape Epic training camp in Franschoek. Took on a loaner road bike (I don't own such a thing) that I rode for a few days beforehand around Fishoek and Simons Town. There were a few other substitute riders as well, I think we may have been one or two short. Even though we were collectively a group of strangers who met the day before the event, everyone was connected through a mutual friend somehow. The team was made up from two or three provinces and the average age ranged from 20 - mid/early fifties. Weight/build pretty much followed a similar trajectory. And honestly, I think this is what made the experience such a gees, everyone rode exceptionally well together with great camaraderie and we all crossed the finish together. With one of two blips along the way. 06h02 over 202km(ish) 70th out of 250, memories priceless. Fines meeting, tears of banter driven laughter. Double Century, **** it's a special experience. Some throwback memories here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BqkeFmrH_i2/
  7. Jokes... for Advendurance/Faces ‘outride’ in March, approximately 28kmh average. That route is 95km or so, it’s a beautiful route and manageable enough. The flat elevation is deceiving, pace yourself. https://strava.app.link/cWS8vqG6dlb
  8. OLOR ...... ON the LIMIT on the RIVET!
  9. Takealot or similar would be your best bet. They don't last though and end more trouble than it's worth.
  10. Cheers. I suppose bolts and covers like for Di2, but derailleur hangar is pretty specific and sought after. I just automatically searched under frames when doing a listing. However listing/searching under components also makes sense. I was about the list a hanger under rear derailleurs. But it doesn't allow for that since it needs to specified as one 9 to 12 speed options.
  11. Did you ride? ... Very lekker gravel route and something different for a day out. The loop is very similar to the one Advendurance hosted informally ahead of Race to the Sun. Ridden it a few times now. The settlement and tar road past it is no issue, no more than a couple hundred meters to access the next section. The people are super cool, just pay attention to potential traffic and lorries for the quarry nearby.
  12. @Matt @Nick ... an option missing on the classifieds section under Frames. "Frame Components/Spares" helpful to list items like derailleur hangars which are quite specific compared to general components. Under Components even.
  13. Don't listen to all this nonsense. The same rule as bikes apply to tools, N plus one!
  14. Askies my bad. How about salmon? Apparently it's the new pink/magenta.
  15. Just playing fast and loose. It's a fact, that this practiced has been questioned a few times. Finishing bottles are a thing and medical folk who are more flexible in this grey area are totally ok with it. Hence the UCI going over WADA and banning the use of Tramadol. Besides the dangers of delayed reflexes from riding blazed on a habit-forming painkiller. There's the question of literally riding the body into long term physical damage whilst simultaneously risking addiction.
  16. Jassis, this makes one want to case the area out and entrap this fkwt for a good lesson! So sorry man, hope you come right sooner than later. Fyi as a general tip. I have a rubber O ring on my handlebars, like on the Garmin mounts. If I stop anywhere for coffee I strap it to the brake lever and also clip my helmet strap round one the wheels. Mitigates any opportunist **** taking a chance. Will literally animal balloon a coffee table up the nought of the person caught!
  17. This went sideways fast. Like anything else in life, just because someone critiques or calls out an issue, it doesn't mean they disagree with a concept entirely. Likewise the categorisation of ebikes in events and races. There are factors to consider, like the climbing and descending. NickGM summed it up well. Behavioural patterns dictate the level of consequence, so irregardless, a reckless selfish dwiss is a reckless selfish dwiss. But the variety of mode will compound the consequences.
  18. That Merida 120 is a win, one of the most balanced bikes I've ridden. Doesn't detract from the Spez/Scott options at all, but it is an incredibly under rated bike.
  19. Another one to add, Adrenalin bikes through Willie Engelbrecht.
  20. Pretty silly way to lose two months income.
  21. Perhaps also create a post in the stolen bikes section.
  22. Shutup and take my first born!
  23. Interestingly Pat collaborated a bit with Victor Momsen on developing the Vipa design. And Victor bought into Morewood Bikes a while after Pat had left, unfortunately that didn't seem to work out. A shame since he had some good ideas to take it forward.
  24. Hell yes! The Brazillians got a deal there, I believe there's still small connection to here and there was some design/prototyping consultation just after the hand over.
  25. That was a good mate of mine, he made his own frames out of a back shed workshop, called Viggen. There was an oval tubed alloy hardtail with a 6mm wall thickness, he made the oval form by cutting round sections in half and having them welded. Also followed through with a number of full suss designs modelled on Kona/Intense as well as a ti frame with alu lugs that bolted to the tubing with cap screws. The MX fork was sourced from The Motorbike Hospital in downtown Joburg. He and Pat were both jewellers/goldsmiths. When Pat was racing for Time Freight/Kona, occasionally on a Time Freight branded AMP, he and Grant would often chat. Must find the photos.
