  1. Eldron If the seal does blow, whats the symptoms on the brakes? No brakes at all or inconsistant braking?? Tx Ns: asking because I have bled my new xtr once from bottom to top and they seem fine (maybe I was just lucky)!!
  2. After fitting the pads, open reservoir, drop a couple of drops with syringe into reservoir to fill it to the top. Close and check. If still problem, remove wheel and press brake lever a little to close gap between pads, add few more drops to reservoir. Refit wheel and check. This should get your pads closer to the rotor and give brakes a 'harder' / more resistance feel. I found that with resin pads the do wear quicker and every know and then I have to add a couple of drops to have sam feel on brake lever. My xtr (race version) do not have a free stroke setting. This seam to work for me ;-)
  3. Same here... Ordered lots of times from them. I'm in PTA and never had any problems with ordering or courier of goods.
  4. http://tool-upcycles.co.za/ In Centurion Matt/Ruan - any of the guys there. All my experiences with them has been great!!
  5. Running shoes if anything!! Been there a couple of times and there is no MTB riding place - unless you like taking your MTB on the tar rode (which have no real shoulder & not very wide).
  6. I think if you have certain goals (example doing a sub 2 hrs on the half) then getting the appropriate seeding (example C or B) is relevant. The first year I started in D I did 2:06 and realized if I want to do sub 2 hrs I will have to get in C (as southern cross drive was full of walkers by the time I tried to run up there and then you waste energy swerving across the road). So, my C seeding on similar fitness got me a sub 2hrs the next year and southern cross drive wasn't full of walkers. If you're running for fun with no time goals, then the seeding isn't really an issue as 2 or 3 minutes to get over the start is part of the race/fun.
  7. First year I entered I got a D seeding; took me more than 1 minute to get over starting line. Next year I trained harder, got a C seeding, pitched early so I can be at the fromt of C. Took 28 seconds to get over the start line. So it really doesn't make that much difference unless your an A batch runner :-)
  8. Correct; time starts when gun fires!
  9. Last year it took weeks (+- 4) for the Two Oceans web site to reflect positions. Patience ;-)
  10. Did you previously do the 55km and do you have a profile (ascent)?
  11. Well done!
  12. Great time!!!
  13. What a fantastic day/vibe/race! Completed my 3rd (in a row) half today. Ran with my wife all the way. After breaking my leg 12 weeks ago I was always doubtful of running. Started running about 3 weeks ago. Couple of treadmill sessions and 4 x street. Furthest we went was 12 km 2 weeks ago. This week I did 2 x treadmill (4km each time). And.... ..... time ...... ...... 2:12:41..... I'll take that with minimal training ;-) Was great to run with the wife all the way and finish this together. Good luck to the rest out there still running the 56 - respect!!!! Maybe I upgrade next year :-)
  14. Good luck all hubbers!! All systems go for tomorrow ;-) Weather looks good as well.
  15. Saturday 24 May 2014
  16. Laat year the full field went off in 1 go... Mad rush... Patience... And you catch more that half of them on the first climb (walking....)
  17. Do you have a profile for the 55km?
  18. I see the next race in this event/series is 10 May. Does anybody have a profile for the 50km route?
  19. Recovered from a broken fibula (12 weeks ago). Have done a total of 38k of street running the last 2 weeks & a bit of treadmill from 3 weeks ago. Just going to go and enjoy the 21km run (and walking) with the wife and do it as a 'fun event'. Good luck to all hubbers doing the half / ultra.
  20. If you do green, blue, black, red, rest of blue and green again you're doing almost 50km with 1100m ascent. I'll see if I can publish some profiles here a little later/tomorrow.
  21. I've entered my son for the 20km race. He is used to doing +-20km and +- 250 to 300m ascent. Does anybody know what the ascent is on the 20km race?
  22. I have a thule towball bike rack that takes 3 bikes (24", 26" & 29") and then I put the 20" bike in the bakkie (inside canopy). The current 3 bikes fit ok without rubbing, etc. but I do have to space them nicely (which takes time and practise). Problem is that to fit 3 big bikes (26/29") one has to drop seatposts etc - which is not nice. Unfortunately i'm short so fitting bikes on a rooftack on a big bakkie is also not easy. So as my kids grow up I'll have 'more' difficulty. Maybe venter trailer with roof carrier????
  23. No reply from sms :-(
  24. SMSed the nr on the event page. Will post here if I get a reply :-)
  25. Did 3 of the Momentum offroad races last year. So will try to do all 4 in Gauteng this year :-)
