  1. Dankie - klink tough, maar doenbaar :-)
  2. In for the half, but considering upgrading to marathon. Can anyone confirm the total ascent on the maraton; i have it as +-1,400m.
  3. Glad you're ok! Get well soon.
  4. Hope pro II evo on crest
  5. Hakahana is one of my favorite places! Unfortunately / fortunately I'll miss this race. I'll be on an island with the wife for her 40th :-) 40km at hakahana (black & red routes) feels like a proper 50 to 60km ride :-)
  6. Nice day out! Did a 4:10 for my first Nissan Marathon... Yes yes, I know... there wasn't much climbing. Just tried to finish a marathon without cramping - goal achieved :-) Very happy with the result, route, batches; all good. I must say I enjoyed the more chill ride/vibe amongst the marathon riders; the half marathons is always such a 'race' for position and the odd impatient dude (race snake) that cannot wait for a proper place to pass. Today everyone was well behaved and very patient with fellow riders that couldn't ride all the terrain. ????????
  7. open goodie bag... take out race sticker give bell to a race snake give gel to someone that use USN products throw rest in dustbin ready to race :-)
  8. Happens to the best of us. Get well soon!
  9. Amen to that!
  10. This race doesn't dissappoint!!! 3rd time doing the half; it remains a proper MTB race/challenge. Had a good race today; improved my time from last year with 15 minutes and 40 places. Very satisfied and for the first time I was able to conquer the mini monster (riding all the way to the top). This race is definately one of my favorites and good value for money. Will definately be back for more (maybe an upgrade next year) - ouch!!

  12. I bought my son a momsen 24" (jsl24 i think) with air shock and it weighs 10.3kg. Lightest bike I could find and I'm super pressed with it.
  13. You guys are making me **** scared of the full monster; so glad I'm doing half again; although full is on the bucket list. Did a 70km ride at Breedtsnek today with 1360m ascent; did the N-S climb twice. Training for half done!
  14. Indecisive at the moment; will see after this weekends ride and decide if it's half or the marathon.
  15. Also entered for first event at Heia; also never been there. Plan to do a ride there before the event :-) Looking fw to this series. One event is at Hakahana; enjoy riding there!
  16. Ultra & Marathon on one day (Saturday) Half & fun rides on another day (Sunday)
  17. Did 50km at Hakahana this morning. The new 5.5km XCO trail is great, but a tough bugger to start a ride with; especially early morning when the sun is in your eyes; not the best time to ride it. Did purple (XCO trail), blue, black, red, rest of blue and some green at the end... Red B down into the kloof needs some cutting; lost the trail, but luckily new where to go. Johan mentioned that they will be doing some route maintenance there next week or so. Section down from top of red route is badly eroded from rain, but Johan mentioned a new single track down... Which I saw but didn't take as I knew the old route from previous times. Rest of the trails in good condition. Overall hakahana remains a tough ride; good training for magalies monster. Will definately be going back!!
  18. Just check the posts... I think the race has been cancelled, but there is an informal ride.
  19. Hakahana tomorrow morning
  20. Good luck with the decision. I had bronchitis a week before sabie experience last year. Rest, the antibiotics, nubilising en rubbing chest with vics (twice a day) got me through. Good luck; hope you get well soon!!
  21. Would have loved to do the full this year as I've only done the half the last couple of years, but this will be my first mtb race since january when i broke my leg. So i guess another year befor i tackle the full monster :-( Looking fw to the race!!
  22. Ride the black route at Hakahana
  23. Not questioning your logic.... but I would think that bubbles goes up... so pushing from bottom to top has better chance of getting bubbles to go up and out (leaving reservoir cap open) vs. working against gravity and pushing bubbles out the bottom. But I guess the other argument is that gravity just let the fluid flow down without pushing and bubbles just follow the flow. In my case I left the reservoir cap open at the top - so maybe that saved my seals
  24. Do you have a profile or total ascent number for the 55km?
