  1. Acted. They don't have relations with Amazon anymore.
  2. Superglue inside the cut. Sand down that cut ever so slightly, whack a load of rubber cement inside, then sand that lightly when it's done. Put a tyre boot on the inside to ensure nothing that gets into the cut goes into your tube. (almost) good as new.
  3. I also wanted to know why he stuck himself and a bicycle into a giant condom. It certainly won't save him if he comes tumbling down at 100Mph

    A Sub 3 Argus?

Sub3s are dependant on the weather, and very much the group. My first 3h was in group D I think. The existance of a nasty SEaster on the day can dd 5-10min easily too. What group do you start in, and how much time can you put in? Tbh there's some work to be done if you want a 3h Argus coming from a 3h 94.7
  5. The only rides I've heard of was the guys staying at Mooikloof, but that's only because they have a jeeptrack within the perimeter. Otherwise it's really not safe hey. Between the dogs that get out (evading capture in the day is one thing) and people that want to score knobbies or cellphones, I wouldn't risk it.
  6. Got three votes for you today.
  7. It's Googled it. Area code Cape Town, Somerset West, Gordon's Bay
  8. They offer it overseas, but you pay extra.
  9. I found their "about us" plastered all over the internet. They don't have a physical address on their site, so it's already dodgy. They sell brands but they're not authorized dealers. Dodgy? Certainly looks like it.
  10. +1 on Hot Spots
  11. Merlin Cycles shipped my package via RM 3 hours after they opened (paid at 9, it was shipped by 12). It arrived in SA 3 days later.
  12. It's in the CSA rules anyways. You can should get fined too. Yeah, there's a lot of people with really dodgy stuff out there. In the Bakwena some guys pitched with tri bars (would work well on that route, but still) and 4-spoke carbon wheels - those are specifically banned since if they break, they shatter and are dangerous to other people. One guy even had one of those early triathlon bikes like Chris Boardman rode to the WR.
  13. Yeah, not veeeeery happy. The basic site stays the same, but I really liked the accumulated mileage, time, etc.... it's why I use it, so that I don't have to write down everything in Excel (I lost 4 years of training data with a hdd crash)
  14. What width is your rim? I've heard about some guys having issues with rims that aren't wide enough for the tyres. It's the only plausible explanation for the tyre popping off when you're inflating it (since there's no sidewards pressure on it from cornering, etc).

Last time I rode it, I measured 97.4
  16. Stans combined with some nice sticky Conti MK and XK Protection.... 29er style
  17. Or in the Carousel some years ago, the elite ladies did a 32 average..... k*k was flying all over later from the CSA claiming they weren't racing.
  18. And what about Bryton? Don't forget us
  19. No harm done. You can see anything if you're looking for it.
  20. Coincidentally, one of those "females", is a friend of mine. She is a pretty strong rider on a mtb and is insanely fit. So yes, out of line, I'd say so. Remember also that in the C,D,E groups they can easily sit on guys' wheels and have an easier ride to the finish. It makes a huge difference.
  21. When I started cycling, I started in August. did the Telkom and Ofm and 94.7..... clocked 3h on it, so it's by no means impossible. In another 100km race in Jozie I did a 3h30 one year and the same race a year later, under 2h30. So yeah, a lot can happen in a year.
