  1. +1 on the Edge 500. Only thing that it cannot do, from what I've heard and been told and googled, is to create and follow a route. (The Bryton 40 does this, but eew, not too well in my experience).
  2. Apart from TNT1's suggestion, I know that Endomondo's premium version does this too, so you can compare routes in real time.
  3. Just to counter your argument on one front.... someone showed us some stats here recently, there are more cyclists hit by motorcars than taxis. I haven't had any issues with taxis threatening my spot on the road, in all the 10 or 11 years I've cycled.
  4. I use two things to make smoothies.... a 20yo stick blender (Braun) that was my grandmother's, (a replacement for that is around 2k) and a Kenwood blender/food processor that I picked up on special at Makro for R999.
  5. How stiff are those wheels? What would happen if, forbid, you whack a [small] pothole with those wheels at 60kph? The wheels sound awesome, but the above is what I would worry about (the only wheels I know of in that weight range are the Zipp 202's) Edit: I lolled at the funny wheels ;-)
  6. He probably doesn't want the Blackberry back
  7. Indeed. I am now a calm driver, but it's hard to be a "calm" cyclist..... with all these idjits like we've identified above..... when they threaten my life, by doing nothing I am only telling him he's won and "I'm sorry for being in your way". Yeah, pepperspray it is
  8. I'd be like "yay, finally got a reason to use my pepperspray!!!"
  9. Breedtsnek sounds fun for sometime, maybe when the weather is not this bad?
  10. Yes it was nice this morning. The humidity was way better than the heat.
  11. For those that still don't understand: As per the quote above, no person may disregard any traffic sign unless they comply with subsection 3, which considers emergency vehicles and their guidelines in disregarding traffic signs.
  12. Bicycles are subject to the same rules of the road, with obvious exceptions such as which you'd find when you compare the physical attributes of a car to a bicycle.
  13. And here I was thinking that being on a mtb kept me safe from reckless and irresponsible drivers.... so apparently not. I was thinking that we could keep abreast of the reckless drivers and (obviously report them) keep tabs on them for the future - because lightning often strikes twice. Silver singlecab bakkie, probably a Hilux. Driven by a fat oomie with an obvious sense of road rage. BC-03-BN GP So I was riding down the Silverlakes road, kept to the dirt track on the side, but moved into the road opposite Newmark Estate due to the little bridge thingy, when this bakkie comes flying past on the wrong side of the road and coming rather close to hitting me. I wave my arm to indicate to him he should drive on the other side of the road, he pulls his finger at me and 50m later, I hear his tyres, then see him reversing to me [at speed nogals]. I ride to the entrance of the estate there and he comes stopping there, jumps out of his bakkie and starts to harass me, swearing at me and coming rather close to threatening me. I'm just glad he didn't physically assault me, he was three times my size. Edit: And yeah, all of this will have been caught on CCTV footage, as it happened right in front of the estate.
  14. Luckily no rain. Just 90% humidity and a reckless driver on the Silverlakes road that tried to nail me, and when he missed, jumped out his car and threatened me
  15. Not too bad? I got 37C at 4pm Going out riding tomorrow at 5, hoping it's not going to be raining.
  16. The eye witness' story was on the 4x4 forums somewhere. He apparently tried to stop the driver but he only talked to them through the window. Still sick if you ask me.
  17. That's asking for spam. Rather send MONS a private message.
  18. On the grass you say? Well for starters there shouldn't be any cars driving on the grass
  19. But.... bicycles are allowed to, and sometimes compelled to, ride on the pedestrian walkway.
  20. +1. I go every year, and my parents go around twice a year.... the WILD card saves me muchos moola. SANParks are really making an effort.
  21. You should see what happens to some funriders [starts running] when they peek over their shoulders. They change 4 lanes without realising it.
  22. That's definitely one way to go about it. "If your child rides his bike to school, he's a cyclist. Do you want some motorist to mow him down? No? Well I don't want to be mowed down either, thank you very much".
  23. I have those. They're comfortable and nice to ride... they're actually more comfortable than my S-Works carbon shoes.
  24. It should cool down a bit. Compare that to the 29 I just measured now. It's probably 30 or 31 at Boschkop now. 25. +1. I did however laugh at this comment:
