  1. Hi I saw that ad and it looked like a GREAT deal, did a quick Google search and found other link with the exact same picture that the ad used. I was also the one that posted the link under the ad. I didn't want to directly accuse the advertiser or get into a big debate so just posted the link for people to make their own decisions.
  2. My mate worked for the company that did the pics for the Argus a few years ago. She was a full time photographer but did work full time for the company, she was paid R450 for the day and required to give a DVD with all the pics the following day to the company. Use it don't use it.
  3. Awesome job! Out of interest, where does one buy Pepperdew seeds/plants? I know they history behind them with the secrecy and cloak and dagger to keep it theirs, but I see more and more people growing them for personnel use. Cheers
  4. Awesome work so far, I have been toying with the idea and great to see the work of someone who has actually done it! It is only shallow roots plants that do well in those gutters. Keep the pics coming!
  5. You're not alone buddy!
  6. Things I have personally learnt: The wind is always against me on the way home (challenge accepted) If I see someone on a mtb I have to chase them down (I commute on a roadie) If I get a puncture, I only discover it in the morning as I am ready to leave and running late Keeping a spare pair of socks and undies at the office is a must Cars are surprisingly polite/understanding if you don't ride like a **** When you get caught in a sneaky rain shower it is awesome I hate it when I have to drive my car I get to work in a foul mood if I drive It's easier getting up in the morning when I know I will be riding I love my bike even more!
  7. There are some very strong opinions going here, although people are managing to stay polite. I have not competed in any sort of IM, more of a runner and cyclist. I do how ever like to get shirts from the events, two of my favorite are the two oceans marathon and Knysna shirts. I like them for the quality and the normally great designs. I use them for training and find that I am often able to pull motivation from them as I can remember what I went through each year to get that top, or failed to do etc. The point I am trying to get across is that people wear the tops for different reasons, some as a sign of personnel accomplishment, others to show off and some because the tops are just really nice and if the event advertises that they will be giving a top you have a right to complain if it is a piece of rubbish. Even more so if the cost of the event was extremely high. Davem I am completely with you, while you were a bit cheeky, it's good to let them know if you are not happy with the quality and it's not like you were demanding another one. For those of you that say I don't take the top or who wants it anyway, you should start another topic "stop the pointless race shirts etc"
  8. What a great thread. I have also just moved into a house were I am able to now grow my own veg/herbs. For those who do, please post your pictures so we all can learn
  9. Good idea, on my way to do that now!
  10. Lots of different opinions here, but everyone is unique so to be expected. I like to prepare a whey protein shake before I leave home that I drink as soon as I finish. I am also often waiting for friends so I head back to the car change, drink shake and then go back to the race area. While waiting I "try" to get a stretch in. When the rest finish we normally smash some beers and a burger while waiting to NOT be chosen win in the luck draw.
  11. My time for this race has shown up on the Racetec site and as I said I am not a PPA member. Maybe I just got lucky, it's not like the PPA are known for being efficient
  12. Is that really the case? I have not joined the PPA for years but my results are always up on racetec.
  13. So bleak to be back at work already, was going to take these two days off but the betty has no leave to take so no point taking it without her, or is there
  14. Sub 3.10 - 99er Sub 3.15 - Argus Continue commuting to work Keep spinning once a week Ride more with the betty and help her improve her weaknesses and give her confidence to push herself.
  15. I really enjoyed die burger this year. The wind was a bit hectic but I enjoyed the challenge. I thought it was well organised and I will definitely be back. The only issues I had which were very minor were no goodie bags and no lucky draw!
  16. I used to be the only one in my family as well as my partners family who used to ride, run and train. I had always aimed to to start triathlons but just never quite got there. Now my partner is a avid mtb and runner, running and riding pretty close to my times. her parents are also mtbing 3 times a week. My sister is doing triathlons and looking into doing the half-ironman. So my motivation is now stronger than ever. It is not necessarily that I want or need to be fitter or better but they all look to me for advice and training tips etc and I like being able to help them. Another added benefit is that I am now in charge of any problems that happen on four mtb and two road bikes which has forced me to increase my knowledge and repair skills.

Hi Mon-goose I will drop you a pm as well if you don't mind sharing those plans. I am just starting to find my feet in the water and some structured 1-2km plans would be great!
  18.
  19. I would give Dark Horse wheels a look
  20. I am also interested to know, don't hold out on us guys!
  21. It is very irritating I agree, it's just like they often don't have the prices on the bike/part, so when you ask they look you up and done and suck out a price they think you will pay!

    Argus 2014

Entered this morning, nice and easy. One of the lucky one I guess!
  23. So did I. At the time I thought it must be some high quality type of goo product. Then I also thought to myself I know I get a mental and physical boost every time I take a goo, whether it is just a mental thing or actual boost I don't know, so maybe it was that as well.
  24. So its been a tough start. Got a flat on the way home yesterday, but it was on the front so not to stressed. Woke up this morning to it pissing with rain, thought about catching the train but powered through and you know what, I LOVED IT! I don't think I would cycle everyday day if it was raining but every now and then I can handle.
