  1. Lots of different opinions here, but everyone is unique so to be expected. I like to prepare a whey protein shake before I leave home that I drink as soon as I finish. I am also often waiting for friends so I head back to the car change, drink shake and then go back to the race area. While waiting I "try" to get a stretch in. When the rest finish we normally smash some beers and a burger while waiting to NOT be chosen win in the luck draw.
  2. My time for this race has shown up on the Racetec site and as I said I am not a PPA member. Maybe I just got lucky, it's not like the PPA are known for being efficient
  3. Is that really the case? I have not joined the PPA for years but my results are always up on racetec.
  4. So bleak to be back at work already, was going to take these two days off but the betty has no leave to take so no point taking it without her, or is there
  5. Sub 3.10 - 99er Sub 3.15 - Argus Continue commuting to work Keep spinning once a week Ride more with the betty and help her improve her weaknesses and give her confidence to push herself.
  6. I really enjoyed die burger this year. The wind was a bit hectic but I enjoyed the challenge. I thought it was well organised and I will definitely be back. The only issues I had which were very minor were no goodie bags and no lucky draw!
  7. I used to be the only one in my family as well as my partners family who used to ride, run and train. I had always aimed to to start triathlons but just never quite got there. Now my partner is a avid mtb and runner, running and riding pretty close to my times. her parents are also mtbing 3 times a week. My sister is doing triathlons and looking into doing the half-ironman. So my motivation is now stronger than ever. It is not necessarily that I want or need to be fitter or better but they all look to me for advice and training tips etc and I like being able to help them. Another added benefit is that I am now in charge of any problems that happen on four mtb and two road bikes which has forced me to increase my knowledge and repair skills.

Hi Mon-goose I will drop you a pm as well if you don't mind sharing those plans. I am just starting to find my feet in the water and some structured 1-2km plans would be great!
  9.
  10. I would give Dark Horse wheels a look
  11. I am also interested to know, don't hold out on us guys!
  12. It is very irritating I agree, it's just like they often don't have the prices on the bike/part, so when you ask they look you up and done and suck out a price they think you will pay!

    Argus 2014

Entered this morning, nice and easy. One of the lucky one I guess!
  14. So did I. At the time I thought it must be some high quality type of goo product. Then I also thought to myself I know I get a mental and physical boost every time I take a goo, whether it is just a mental thing or actual boost I don't know, so maybe it was that as well.
  15. So its been a tough start. Got a flat on the way home yesterday, but it was on the front so not to stressed. Woke up this morning to it pissing with rain, thought about catching the train but powered through and you know what, I LOVED IT! I don't think I would cycle everyday day if it was raining but every now and then I can handle.
  16. I also need to have my car at work, so my plan is to drive it in on Monday mornings with the bike and then commute until Friday afternoon when I will drive home again.
  17. Read this thread from the start to the end last night, there was some great advice (and as is custom on the hub, some unhelpful advice). I have just completed my first commute into work this morning and it was great, felt so amazing to not be sitting in my car while my mood slowly deteriorates due to traffic. I have a fairly short and flat commute with the option to ride on the pavements/"cycle paths" most of the way. The trip is from Wynberg to Observatory which is about 11km. After only 1 commute under the belt I can say to everyone if you are thinking about it, DO IT!
  18. Hi I bought the Giant TCR 2 a few years ago, was about R8000 new, 9 speed Tiagra. I absolutely love the bike, I was at the time swayed to the Giant because its colors were better than the other bikes in that price range, but boy am I glad I got the Giant.
  19. Hi Tienie Congrats yours was the lucky reply. Will post some wallets for you to choose from shortly!
  20. Hi All Thanks for the response, Will post the winner tonight
  21. There is obviously a cost that has to be paid by someone. At this stage it is meant more as an option for the sponsors to get their brands out on social media etc. But I fully understand your concern and as a rider I also do not want "extras" like this pushing up the entry price
  22. Hi Stretch The backhaul would be different for every situation depending on what was available, what it is going to be used for and how many people will be using it. So yes often the only option is something like satellite if it's out in the sticks. 3G is great if it is available and if it works. But we find normally as soon as there are a large amount of people connected it all goes downhill pretty quickly and there is nothing that can be done to get it going again or to be able to control it.
  23. Hey Hubbers Will keep this going until tomorrow evening (9pm) and will then announce the winner.
  24. Hi VicanZA That is certainly the aim, it all depends on the event organizers and sponsors etc,
