    Cricket......

You can't not have Kallis in your team, you just can't!
  2. I had an awesome race doing the 60km and thought the course was great. Was a bit frustrating the few times we got stuck in the bottlenecks but starting from E I knew that was going happen. I just took it easy from the start and wanted test the legs out doing 60km on a mtb. Had some good chats with fellow riders and one hubber (name forgotten ) and witnessed some great falls into deep mud
  3. This is such an awesome thread, but quite a read to get through it all. Saw this and thought people may find it interesting (apologies if it has been up before). Original Story: http://www.boredpand...ur-josh-renouf/
  4. My training has also taken a dive these last three weeks, so the 60km is going to be a bit of a push. Hopefully that means time to chat to some hubbers along the way.
  5. I may be wrong here, but if the shop does any extra work or replaces any part that makes the cost higher than agreed on, regardless of the cost to the shop you are not required to pay it. All additional charges have to be agreed to by the client (is this not in the CPA?). If that happened to me, I would have politely informed the shop I would not pay for any additional labour and would pay for any parts at cost. Completely unacceptable to do that in my book.
  6. Bloody taxis and Tow-truck drivers, I just need to see them and my blood boils, even if they are obeying the law.
  7. Talk about a post going wrong Firstly I guess I should have started with those Hub members that feel like doing so should partake instead of implying all hubbers should, thought that would have been obvious, secondly I probably should not have posted anything . I just personally feel that they go out of their way both on the hub and in their stores. Yes at the end of the day they are a business and wont sell anything to you at a loss to them, but I for one appreciate the engagement. I hardly see how it is similar to faceless store like pnp or woolies, if you asked me to pop R50 for them I guess I would give the same replies that have been given here. I see the hub as a community and CWC someone who adds a value to being a part of that community, not many places where you can ask for specials on what you need and get them (sometimes). In general I do like to reward good service when I get it, be it a phone call or letter to the owner etc. At the end of the day I guess I have just been really stoked with them lately and most of it has been though the hub, thought others may have been the same way inclined. Flame suit is on
  8. Haha, I was just thinking about writing that , secret is it out, jokes!
  9. Hey Hubbers I have always received great service from CWC and I also appreciate how active they are on the hub. I know it is another channel for them to sell their products, but I think we can all agree that they do much more than just that and this often enables hubbers to get what they want first and at a great price! I have been trying to think of a way for us as cyclists but mainly as Hubbers to thank them. The one idea was to setup a fund where all the hubbers that wanted to could put in say R50 into a fund and at the end we could get something for the shop. It doesn't have to be big, more of a gesture. It could be a fixed object for example but I was leaning towards getting them 10 large pizzas and a case of crafty beers and dropping it off on a Friday afternoon. Just an idea, feel free to suggest others. Obviously someone would have to play bank, I can't remember which thread I read it in but some hubber was mentioned as having previously been a good option, maybe them? Cheers
  10. So jealous of all of you watching, this is killing me

  12. I have a Corolla and fitting the road bike behind the front two seats is super easy, just pop the front wheel off and slide her in. The 29er is more of a mission and requires both wheels off and some careful placement. When I do take the 29er I also normally take the bettys car (has a bike rack) but that's an issue as she has a personalized licence plate that reads "DUCKI", not much street cred with that
  13. Sorted, thanks!
  14. Hi All Just thought I would give a big shout out to Dorpie. He was selling a bike in JHB and I was down in CT. I had told him I was nervous doing an EFT and then trusting that the seller would do their part (thanks SA) He went out of his way to put my worries at ease and even went the extra mile when the courier was taking longer than they should have. Great guy, great deal, great service! On a side note when ever I try rate the seller I get this message " Oops! Something went wrong!"
  15. Here are my two cats, Indiana Jones and BumBeeTuna Dog to follow soon hopefully (spoiler - to be named shakaka)
  16. Wow loving but not enjoying all the carnage that is taking place, those guys are proper tough! What I don't get is why the don't do more in the wet stages to protect themselves when they know there is an even higher chance of crashing then normal. What I mean by that is: some kind of carbon fiber (or other material) layer on the outside of the bibs over the hips have some minimal cover/strap/sleeve over their knees and elbows gloves (I know some ride without but def on a wet/icy stage) Those are the areas it seems where most of the damage is done when they fall so why would they not do all they can to protect themselves.
  17. So much awesome! If you see a guy riding naked up to the mast in Tokai, you know why!
  18. There is a trainer at my Virgin Active who uses a barbell to do his rolling on, no jokes!
  19. Did anyone else think that the CB segment was really badly done/produced, I mean with all the evidence they had they could have really put those punks to the sword. On the bright side, the owners have really shown how thick and simple they really are.
  20. Hi I saw that ad and it looked like a GREAT deal, did a quick Google search and found other link with the exact same picture that the ad used. I was also the one that posted the link under the ad. I didn't want to directly accuse the advertiser or get into a big debate so just posted the link for people to make their own decisions.
  21. My mate worked for the company that did the pics for the Argus a few years ago. She was a full time photographer but did work full time for the company, she was paid R450 for the day and required to give a DVD with all the pics the following day to the company. Use it don't use it.
  22. You're not alone buddy!
  23. Things I have personally learnt: The wind is always against me on the way home (challenge accepted) If I see someone on a mtb I have to chase them down (I commute on a roadie) If I get a puncture, I only discover it in the morning as I am ready to leave and running late Keeping a spare pair of socks and undies at the office is a must Cars are surprisingly polite/understanding if you don't ride like a **** When you get caught in a sneaky rain shower it is awesome I hate it when I have to drive my car I get to work in a foul mood if I drive It's easier getting up in the morning when I know I will be riding I love my bike even more!
  24. There are some very strong opinions going here, although people are managing to stay polite. I have not competed in any sort of IM, more of a runner and cyclist. I do how ever like to get shirts from the events, two of my favorite are the two oceans marathon and Knysna shirts. I like them for the quality and the normally great designs. I use them for training and find that I am often able to pull motivation from them as I can remember what I went through each year to get that top, or failed to do etc. The point I am trying to get across is that people wear the tops for different reasons, some as a sign of personnel accomplishment, others to show off and some because the tops are just really nice and if the event advertises that they will be giving a top you have a right to complain if it is a piece of rubbish. Even more so if the cost of the event was extremely high. Davem I am completely with you, while you were a bit cheeky, it's good to let them know if you are not happy with the quality and it's not like you were demanding another one. For those of you that say I don't take the top or who wants it anyway, you should start another topic "stop the pointless race shirts etc"
  25. Good idea, on my way to do that now!
