  1. Something like this? The reason I ask is that the platform on the basic plastic pedals with the small cage does not offer enough support for the foot. There is a good chance that your discomfort starts there.
  2. Yes we do! Don't come here with that Cape attitude my bru. We have a little something called Gilroys
  3. I was really hoping to have had this issue resolved when I replaced my very worn out 5.10s with a new pair of Ride Concepts Helion shoes. From the first ride I experienced hotspots and numb toes across all 5 toes on my right foot and about 2 toes on the left. At first I thought the new shoes just had to break in. I loosened the laces a lot and it helped reduce the numbness quite a bit. The next thing I did was replace the inner soles with the Specialized footbeds. Had the fancy machine tell me what to get and everything. First ride was fine with only a tiny tingle in my right big toe. Then things came back. Pain along the outer edge on my left foot and numb toes on the right. Numbness is worse on hard rides where I push more power. A chilled ride with lots of spinning seems fine. I'm running out of ideas here. New shoes again? I'm sure the fit is right on these. Another thought popped up this morning. I know saddle height and width can cause additional pressure around the hips where the sciatic nerve runs (i do have occasional sciatic discomfort after rides). I'm 99% sure my saddle height is correct. My hips stay level during the pedal stroke. Width wise my sitting bones measure around 140mm and i'm using a 142mm Now the nose of my saddle is tilted up slightly. Can this maybe cause problems? Will level it out and see how this weekend goes. ANY THING ELSE that you guys can add will greatly be appreciated. I'm getting really tired of rides being uncomfortable.
  4. Give Lynwood Cycles a call. I don't recall seeing the 2FO flats there when I was there in December. Received great service from them. Ask if they can still get stock of the Skitch shoes. At R600 on sale it's definitely worth looking at. Not the most hardcore shoe but they do have their place on the bike. https://www.specialized.com/za/en/skitch-shoes/p/156271?color=229464-156271&searchText=61218-5045 PS. What pedals are you using?
  5. Vaal Marina last year January
  6. I'm seriously considering 2FO. Hows the toe box on those? I find the Ride Concepts too narrow (I think) and I'm having endless issues with pain on the outside of my left foot and numb toes on the right. Normally after about 20km.
  7. My ass is seriously itching to get back on two wheels again. In fact it started itching the day my Harley was sold. This caught my attention.
  8. Not as chilled as those beers mid ride. Irony is my middle name. Especially when I slap on the . Imagine that, three of them! OMFG. Happy new year to you too.
  9. Interesting question. With the added weight of the bike (+- 10kg?) you would need to run higher tire pressures. This would be at the expense of grip. Is this an issue?
  10. You got your feedback and then you got pissy with "get a life"
  11. Trouble reading? I said it's personal preference.
  12. Sensitive much? Don't push content to the internet if you can't take the feedback. Now who needs a life?
  13. My biggest issue is promoting the consumption of alcohol mid ride. Highly unprofessional. e-bike or no e-bike, drinking and riding is irresponsible. Maybe that is why the camera is spinning around them 90% of the time? Cheeky to use Corona. I see the comedic side of it but at the same time I feel it is a little insensitive. Is the video sponsored by Corona? This is personal preference but this video is supposed to sell a lifestyle. Trail riding and having fun. Why all the lycra. Just doesn't look right to me. Again, this is personal preference. Lastly, the video production. What frame rate is that? Looks like 30fps. At 24/25fps you will get that smooth cinematic feel. Also the colour grading makes it look like they are riding in a wasteland. It severely lacks more closeup footage. The setting for the video could have been a forest or similar. More eye candy and sells the ride better. Right now it looks like you are slogging along in dry, dusty, and hot environments. Again, personal feelings on the video. Except for the alcohol part.
  14. So many things wrong with that video... But, I would not mind adding an e-bike to the stable for something like exploring everything Karkloof has to offer. Some of those climbs are brutal. My knees and back will thank me. It does look like a lot of fun.
  15. 67: They will not bring back the classifieds comments.
  16. I still want to know what the final outcome of that was. Did Bike Addict damage the frame like that? Was the OP hiding trying to do the bearings himself maybe?
  17. I have some Hope rebuilding in my future. Also the video on lower stem and higher rise bars caught me attention.
  18. Ok. But only because I learned something.
  19. Do I get naan with my Covid Tikka Masala?
  20. Loving Nord but I can't get past Amazon Prime with it. Keeps telling me to disable my VPN on my laptop. Would like to find a way to install this on the Mikrotik fibre router and have no more SA Netflix on my Apple TV. Starting to see more and more local content filling up space where quality content should be.
  21. A good start -> https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds
  22. If you get any of the above wrong retreat to a safe distance and throw said chocolate at her
  23. The biggest and most important thing that I've learned from 26 years of riding. The wife/girlfriend dictates the speed, distance, & technicality of the ride. Take chocolate on the rideTake her for a saddle fittingBuy her the best cycling shorts you can afford Flat pedalsZero pressure to do thingsStart on the easiest and flattest possible routesShe will have her first crashBe supportive in every little thing she doesCongratulate every small achievementDon't show her Redbull RampageWatch insteadOnce she is comfortable with the basic gravel rides you can book her a skills course. It doesn't matter how much you know, you won't be a good teacher and she won't listen to you. A coach is a stranger and to an extent an authority figure. She is more likely to listen.
  24. Definitely a candidate for a small frame. Size is 99% of the riding experience.
