  1. To Komatipoort?!!
  2. For you guys?..... maybe
  3. sure thing. Marzipan is so old fashioned anyway (unless it's in a petit four, then its a must!)
  4. fancy that, my instagram account contains mostly cake/baked stuff https://www.instagram.com/artsy_tartsy_cakes/
  5. and never let poor Ruby, join in any doggy games?
  6. Thanks, he's a bundle of energy and can be overwhelmingly boisterous, but I can't remember what life was like a couple of weeks ago when he wasn't a part of it. I think if the roles were reversed Barry would've taken my animals in... ok, maybe not the cats
  7. Well, for what it's worth, Scar is settling in very well and has found his new BFF in my teenage son. I sometimes look at him and wonder if he understands what has happened and where his human went to, but he seems to like his new humans, so I think he'll be ok
  8. I'm sorry about your predicament ScottC-M. I hope you manage to home your boys. If nobody here can help, it would probably be best to try and use an animal welfare organization to help you home them so that proper home checks can take place and they don't fall into the wrong hands. Good luck
  9. Mine has gone up to 22 hours
  10. You might be the third person to say that. I'm beginning to think that it's tougher than Baviaans
  11. I do this at TransBaviaans with my 310xt. The only problem is that although it continues recording, I get the 'charging' screen. This isn't much of a problem in Baviaans, but in an event like this where I'm relying on my GPS for directions, I'm not sure what I'd do.. #thingstothinkaboutwhenconsideringdoingC2T
  12. Those last 110kms though.... Wear your big girl panties
  13. have a look here too http://tears.org.za/dogs/ AACL Cape Town also currently have loads of puppies: https://www.facebook.com/pg/AACLCapeTown/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1411603322243836 Please support a shelter rather than a breeder.
  14. I came to this thread to look for a bit more info on this little critter that has moved into my home and my heart. It's been less than 3 days and he's attached himself to the humans. I can't say that the cats are too pleased, but we're working on that. He just gets overexcited and wants to play but they don't see it quite like that. Our elderly Jack Russel is ok with him as long as he doesn't get into her face (which he tends to do). This morning just before I was about to leave for work he perched himself on her bed and started weeing. Maybe a territorial move? Nonetheless, I told him he was a naughty, naughty dog and he wagged his tail
  15. A few of us got together to remember Barry on Saturday morning. Accessorized in pink magenta feather boas, we rode the streets of Benoni and ended up at Grapes. Unfortunately they were closed, so we headed down the road to Quaterdeck. It was a bittersweet gathering. Good to have a reunion of some old Hub mates that hadn't seen each other in years but sad about the circumstances that brought us back together.
  16. Thanks so much SwissVan! 2 dogs with homes, 3 to go.
  17. I had no idea he was a she!
  18. Taken from IanJ's FaceBook page. Ghost was introduced to his new family yesterday "I think Barry Mccallum would be smiling, Ghost in his new home with his 2 sisters"
  19. Hi SwissVan, there are still 4 mutts being taken care of, 2 of which have potential homes. My understanding is that home checks are underway. Until all of them actually leave the shelter, they are costing R90 per dog per day for boarding only. HRSA are still feeding them at an additional cost. As at yesterday R1200 had been spent on food alone since the accident. I have no idea how much has been contributed so far, but I think it's better to have some excess in the Barry Dog fund. At a rate of R360 a day now (sans food) until the others find homes, I think the funds will run out quickly. Thank you to all of you generous people that are paying it forward and to all of those animal rescue people that give of their time so selflessly.
  20. What Wil6 said. Ian in conjunction with Husky rescue are in the process of re-homing them. Two of the dogs first had to be snipped but are now ready for new homes. I personally fell in love with Scar (the Boxer) when I met him at the funeral, but I'm not in a position to adopt him just yet. If my situation changes in the next few weeks and he's still available though, I'll be signing up
  21. I'll send you a PM, thanks!
  22. Hi all, I come here in search of more funds for Tumbleweeds dogs. As you all know IanJ from Huskey Rescue is doing a sterling job of taking care of them and your generous contributions made that all possible a few weeks ago. Funds are starting to run a bit low and they'll still need boarding fees to be paid whilst Ian does his best to re home them. Please can you open your hearts and pockets once more to help out? any small contribution will help. Husky rescue SA Standard Bank Cape gate 02 39 10 271474092 The reference can be 'Tumbleweed' or 'Barry', either way, they'll go towards the upkeep of his dogs
  23. That's all folks
  24. These he sent me from a photo shoot, I think Danger Dassie gets credit for the pictures, but they're clearly professional, so not mine Dassie I hope you don't mind me sharing
