  1. eeeeee-yoh-yoh-yoh eish. hilly indeed
  2. haha sadly no! I experienced a sudden sharp pain upon my person. figured it must've been my financial manager sticking pins in my voodoo doll
  3. +1, let me know how it goes? very interested in price and how easy it was to retrofit
  4. if you run endomondo then it will sync with your bluetooth enabled sports accesories, including HRMs. the finger on the camera thing is definitely not even remotely accurate
  5. Also did an abrupt u-turn to go look after a training ride last weekend (while still wearing my filthy mtb kit nogal). To their credit, nobody even raised an eyebrow when one dusty mtb chick squealed out loud at the pink bianchi road bike. LOL
  6. I'm no expert but from what I've read the import duties are much higher if you import a complete bike vs components. I seem to recall several pinned posts on the forum about import duties, maybe do a search?
  7. did you see this add? looks very small https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/30658-scott-gambler-dh20/
  8. I'm a short rider. I'll look really silly on a 29er and I'll probably struggle with the frame's geometry. BUT, I have a 26er bike that fits me really well and I can appreciate the advantages of a bigger wheel. why wouldn't I get excited if I could fit 650B wheels on my current bike? To my situation it seems ideal.
  9. well, you can always discuss with your LBS about helping you build up your imported frame?
  10. yeah, I think the X2 and X4 comes in XS?
  11. the woman's specific bikes tend to run smaller, so maybe she would be able to get away with a small frame. I'm 1.65 and ride a small 'unisex' HT which is just right for me. why not import a frame from CRC?
  12. +1, our spinning instructor makes us do standing climbs without touching the handle bars and with your weight further back. your nose shouldnt be past the handlebar. remember when you climb the bike angles upward along the gradient, the spinning bike stays level, so you have to adjust your position accordingly to engage the correct muscle groups.
  13. anybody know what the 40km route is like? how hilly and technical?
  14. ballsy trail skills are sexier than smooth legs
  15. hmm, also check that your seat is level. if it's tipped a bit downward you could be sliding forward
  16. I'm already riding a small frame (Scwinn Moab) but felt a little 'stretched out'. Didnt want to move the saddle and mess with leg angles so installed a 50mm stem and a backswept riser bar. made an enormous difference to my comfort and the bike's response on the singletrack
  17. oh my word!!! the guy at 22 seconds has the EXACT same bike that I had! complete with the big bull bar-ends
  18. hahaha, all of us bud!
  19. loving this thread. i'm a half marathon kind of rider but the technical bits, especially loose or rocky drop offs scare me. anybody in pretoria east wanna help? I have two other lady friends that would also greatly appreciate this. we can pay in boozy lunches
  20. I have a 12 year old selle italia ldy which is serving me incredibly well. has done many km of road riding and I just transferred it to my mtb. best saddle I've ever owned
  21. we started in the 20km D batch with a beginner friend. We stopped to help a stranded rider and ended up being lapped by the 40km A and B batch and I must say, what pros! where we could we stopped to let them past and everybody was courteous (except for ONE lone @SS that shouted and screamed that we were in the way). Well done organisers, our beginner friend greatly enjoyed her first ride
  22. bucket with sunlight liquid or omo and hot water. and then a stiff bristle brush. but then my diadoras have velcro straps and my time cleats and pedals dont mind mud
  23. +1, I did road riding for many years on a rigid Giant hybrid with Conti slicks. Nobody ever looked at me funny
  24. I was just in cycle tech in kyalami and they're quite reasonably priced. R600 for a complete strip and service on a full suspension bike. the guy reckons service on my HT will be about R300. it's worth giving them a call. 011 466 9974
  25. yeah, he doesnt answer any of those
