  1. When buying a second hand carbon road bike, what are the first things i should look for? If there are any cracks, where would they most likely be?
  2. First draft Day 1:Durban to Spioenkop Nature Reserve (239km) Day 2:Spioenkop Nature Reserve to Clarens (189km) Day 3:Clarens to Caledon Nature Reserve (266km) Day 4:Caledon Nature Reserve to Venterstad (200km) Day 5:Venterstad to Graaff-Reinet (263km) Day 6:Graaff-Reinet to Barandas (232km) Day 7:Barandas to Ladismith (187km) Day 8:Ladismith to Worcester (213km) Day 9:Worcester to Cape Town (110km) I am a little worried about day 1 being 239km with 1.2km elevation!
  3. Stainless, with white face. I like it so much, when i got robbed about 6 months ago (it was about 5 years old at the time), i went out and bought the exact same one.
  4. TISSOT PRS 200 (the real makoya) CASIO GPS (useless) POLAR 200 something or other
  5. Thanks. Sound like a plan. I have extended family in Middelburg, so that will help with accomidation.
  6. Thanks man, I sent a PM to FRAIL asking for some advice. At the moment, just two of us. We will probably have support vehicles (soft option) and stay anywhere. It should take around 10 days or so
  7. Probably road. My mate wants to get there to ride Argus. I am just going for fun, so my options are still open.
  8. Fellow hubbers I am thinking about cycling to CT from Durban. Has anyone had any experience doing that trip or parts of the route. Coast or Karoo?
  9. Oops, wrong thread. I thought bonking was something else. The answer to your question is no.
  10. I ended up finding a good deal off DEALEXTREME. Picked up a light for cheap. So i am out of this round. Maybe next time
  11. Thats definately not cracked. You would feel it if it was. The crack would be transfered thorugh the gloss coat.
  12. Zula, my advice to you...buy what you can afford, cause the terms affordable, cheap, expensive, waste of money, etc are only words and have diffrent meanings to the different walks of life. A R3k handle bar might sound ludacrous to some people, but for others it is an necessity to complete his awesome ride. What ever makes you and your wallet happy! My appologies, for a moment i thought you were refering to Zulu.
  13. The OP is refering to comfort not cost.
  14. +1 Yip, there is already a thread for that.
  15. Unfortunatly there is no overtaking in single track. It is also advised in tricky sections to give a little gap. There is nothing worse than someone charging your back wheel and causing you to stress and mess up resulting in two people going down. Wait for the gap and take it. I know when someone is behind me, you dont have to tell me. What really gets my goat is when two riders are having a lekker chat next to each other on jeep track. Pick a lane buddy, I aint going through the middle!
  16. cool, thanks. will check it out.
  17. not much either, hence the need to piggy back. I am looking for a decent front light and willing to pay up to R500. I dont ride in the dark to warrant spending more. May also pick up a few tubes, slime etc.
  18. i am keen to piggy back on someones order anytime soon.
  19. Yes, that was scary. I still have terrible images of that in my head.
  20. Thats a really nice barrel
  21. Wow, thanks for the warning.
