1. Are you sure it is going to be the "cream" ?? Friend of mines daughter was placed 1st in her category in the Western Cape but due to being the only cyclist from her school she does not qualify, check the western cape results for Chloe Parker! Some local schools brought girls who could hardly ride a bike just to make up numbers so their better riders could qualify, surely if you finish 1st in your category you qualify to go to the finals?
2. Why not just fit a Mono rail front and Crossmark rear tyre, great on the loose stuff and hardy enough for the tar?
3. Running XT cluster 11-42(removed the 19 tooth), 3 blades in front 22-36-44. You name the ratio and I think I have it. Great when I feel lazy and have left a few roadies what just happened on the road.
4. Contact Taryn @ Global Marine Systems 021 5551574, had the same problem and they sorted it out.
5. Majik forest should be safe to ride but is riding alone safe? I was bullet proof until I came off and had nobody to assist me
6. Stupid question maybe but why would you want to change from a 3x10 to a 2x10? Weight saving is maybe 200g and personally I would rather have the wider selection of gears, with 2x10 you are going to loose out on ratio's ?
7. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/05/download-garmin-705800810.html ,not saying I used this, but it could be your answer
8. Will have to be a 29er...
9. Screwing the adjuster out at the shifter will move the derailleur further away from the frame of the bike. If you do not have enough adjustment at the shifter well then yes you are going to have to adjust at the derailleur which becomes a bit more tricky dependant on your mechanical abilities.
10. Adjust the cable, screw will only stop the derailleur from moving too far ,it wont move it further, that is the cables job
11. About the same weight as you(92kg) and have had the Sola 1 for 2 months now and love it. It came with 3x10 and I have changed the small blade to a 22 tooth, makes the bike a pleasure to ride up hill. You will not look back, just do it!!
12. As a novice I bought the Mr Prices spinning tackie which has the holes underneath for the cleats. Used them for ages with no issues except that they are a bitch to dry, bonus is that they are comfortable to walk in with lots of grip and if your girlfriend is new to cycling she may walk a wee bit.
13. So 262 postings later and many a month later you get what you wanted and now you don't want it. I am way past debating(fighting) with you so hopefully you do not take this the wrong way but if you believed in what you are fighting for then why would you shy away from the meeting, who cares who is there or were it is being held. Go to the meeting and put your feelings on the table, you may have been right all this time. Hopefully you do not take this message the wrong way because I seriously believe a person should fight for what they believe in, if you are proven wrong well then you need to put it behind you and move forward in life
14. Personally I think "King Crispy" may be "King Limp Biscuit" which would explain his attitude but well that is just my 2c worth?
15. Try Global Marine in Milnerton 021 5551574. Not sure if they have technical person but they are agents.
16. Probably is not good enough Da Vinci, compared to 2 years ago the club is in a MUCH better condition and moving forward in leaps and bounds. Given the communication could be fine tuned but by your own admission they are appointing a admin person in the near future who I assume will assist with communication and membership queries so that tells me they are trying to fix their shortfalls? As for the condition of the trails for newbies well I can honestly say I have never let a person fall, my wife,my 2 daughters, friends and friends children can testify to that. Slow and steady, if you are not sure walk it till you build confidence, that is what we need to get into newbies heads. We need to educate people not just ride along with them. What is going to happen to that newbie that has only ridden a perfectly manicured trail when they get to a fun ride with ruts ,loose gravel and drainage ditches? Anyway I am tired of this argument because we will never come to agreement so I am off to join the vast majority(too scared to speak up) of the club members on our stunning trails. P.S. Without faith we are nothing, have some faith in the committee you helped choose.
17. Unfortunately I have no answer to this question, the few times I have had a query or question for the committee I have been able to phone them or E-mail and have received a response(maybe I was just lucky).
18. I actually meant to come back to you on the step, I also find it quite daunting to get across those wooden steps maybe a piece of rubber to give you a sure footing or a small platform to assist those who battle with their bikes. I really do understand your concerns but I just feel that we can only make suggestions and if they are not used, well then so be it. The club cannot please everyone and as much as your idea of discussion till we find a answer sound great we both know that we will never come to a decision because someone will always be dissatisfied. We chose a committee to act on our behalf and do what is in the best interest for the club, they are doing what they think is right and have appointed the trail builder that they feel is capable to do the job. If at the end of their term in office we as the club members are not happy with their performance well then we can replace them with people we feel are better suited to the job. Lets give them a chance till the end of their term and then we can do what the members feel is right? You and me share the same passion for this club, I just do not think that a public platform is the right place to address these issues.
19. I really have no problem with constructive communication but once the horse has been flogged to death and logical explanations supplied, can we then move on? P.S. Will you please like me, I think you are cute?
20. True words 'Dale but sometimes frustration gets the better of me, I too am not perfect.
21. Don't recall ever asking you to like me buddy?
22. during summer they suntan and drink beer - seriously buddy this has all been explained to you in great length, you either did not understand or just don't want to. As for getting personal, I do not like you ,you are a moaning old lady with nothing better to do but cause trouble. Trying to improve the club is great and I am behind you all the way when it is constructive(even though I still do not like you) but things like this do not help. Membership cards were a problem, nobody said they were not, but the "Gestapo" is trying his best to fix this?? None of us are perfect, we try our best. Our personal argument is a result of you attitude, we both want what is best for the club, I look for the good in people and you look for the worst in them.
23. Amazing how people only state what they want you to know. Da Vinci you know that as far as finances go the club is still recovering from a major financial setback that nobody wants to talk about. As for you Coenie(same dog as your FB profile) well you just want to cause trouble and no you cannot work the trail in summer cause the clay is rock hard and cannot be molded, a principal you fail to understand, you still feel you can fix the trail with your cycling shoe. The club cannot please everyone but seems to be pleasing 95% of the members?? Get a life people, as long as we have stunning trails at a budget price, lets just ride our bikes. P.S. The person managing the FB page has a day job but still tries to answer questions timeously, he is not perfect and does not get paid for his time BUT does try to help!!
24. Yes it will make a huge difference. One thing people forget to tell you is to adjust the pedal so that your foot battles to stay clipped in and then as you get used to them tighten the screw till your foot only just stays in.Nobody gave 99% of us this advice thus we all fell over like dumb asses!!
25.
Was the first time I rde it(30km),bit of a killer seeing as I have not been on the bike for 3 weeks. Will be back next year as this is the best ride I have had,the nature, the beauty and the fun factor. Thanks to the organisers for a great event and we will be back next year with the whole gang!!
