  2. Hi all. Thanks to traffic, I wouldn't have made it home and back in time, so decided to take some pics again. No one had a camera for me to use, so I used my cell phone. Out of 50 odd pics, very few came out worth posting. I tried my best to resize and cut where I can, so here goes...
  3. To be fair' date=' Nancy's tyre problems were my fault. The valve was not tight, so I presumed it was the fault for the tyre going flat [/quote'] Ok, as a punishment we'll bring a 20kg baby doll for your empty passenger seat Bugger that... I know MTBking or I could squeeze into that seat... I just want to remind you guys.... it is a hard tail and I am the pilot

  5. To HR and MTB, thanks for organising. To everyone else, thanks for being hubbers. I had a great ride and time. WW, you did do your planting gracefully, but I must say that the fall of the day goes to Rad006. Eish, how do I explain this.... picture riding along a track, 1 - 1.5m wide with trees on both sides. Rad comes across this branch that is hanging dead in our path. He grabs the branch and holds it while riding past. ( now remember that if he lets it go, it's going to slap someone clean of their bike behind him) While holding on to the branch, travelling forward, he says " if I let go this Braaaaannccchhh...." He had come to the end of the branch's travel and this tree was having none of it, it wanted it's arm back. Rad's bike slowed down, then stopped and then he got dragged back to under the tree, body first with his bike trailing with him, still cleated in. Rad, your a gentleman for not letting go at all costs. Once a month sounds like a great Idea. Might not make them all, but will make most.
  6. Can't wait. Due to logistical reasons, we are going to Springs on Sat, with the kids, and then to Benoni on Sun. The outlaws will look after the kids. Becuase of this, I can't give Slowpoke a lift anymore. A scholar and a gentleman will be giving SP a lift. Thanks Hog
  7. Just got confurmation that this thread is not falling on deaf ears. Please note that changes will not happen in a week or 2, but with time things will happen. Thanks again for all the great ideas.
  8. I am sure the 3 or 4 beers drinkers could drink enough for the rest of us
  9. Zoo, we might have to get our own table. Oh yes, seems as Mrs PB doesn't trust me with all the female riders, so she's coming too
  10. Nancy, can I still come? I promise to ride slowly (the only way I know), but I don't drink. I'll meet you half way.... if they have stout, I'll have one with you guys
  11. It really is a pleasure. It's not nice seeing people getting knocked down all the time. Luckily, I have the ability to help repair the wrong, so...
  12. Astana, I agree with you and Porky. Just because it's the only show, doesn't mean we have to accept it. On the other hand, we do have a small say in what we want as the producer would like to improve the show. Pickled, yes, we all do have our own opinion. On the other side of the coin, I believe content is more important than presenters. The majority of the show is about content. People will always have opinions about people and I think these presenters are here to stay for a while. What the producer would like to change is program format and content, so that you don't have to flip to another channel. I am being serious about this, the producer does want info and feedback from you cyclists.
  13. Locks from a second hand dealer: R250 Locks adapted ti fit the original key: R 350 Drivers side window: R 150 SP's face on the overall costs: Priceless Ok guys, so far, we have managed to get SP's car back to the way it was, for next to nothing (in my opinion). The last item we would like to replace is the front loader cd player that she had. Now I know these things are now very cheap at most stores, but maybe there is a hubber who has a unit lying around after an upgrade or something. If someone has a front loader for sale at a decent price, please pm me or SP so that we can finish her car off.
  14. My luck, is that I met Owen before I started cycling, so I got to know him before I could hold a grudge for what he did. People do make mistakes and as far as I know, he did apologize. Many people have been caught for illegal substances, but are still around as their knowledge is useful. I always speak to him about riding techniques, different bike parts etc, and he is always helpful. As I said, I met him on a personal basis and he is down to earth. He's a normal chap, he rides a superbike as well, and we get along well. He did what he did, but in the end, he is giving back to the sport. From the feel of things, if you are caught doing something wrong, you must dissapear. Imagine the top 2 formula 1 teams being banned from everything, for the **** they caused, passing on car spec info. Teams cheating and slip streaming cars to get back to the bunch etc. These guys all made mistakes, get a fine or pulled over the coals, but in the end of the day, life goes on and we all make mistakes Maybe I am naive (sp?), maybe I like everyone I meet, but then again, this is my opinion.
  15. I have only been cycling for 11 months and have little experience in buying from any of the bike shops (most of my kit came from the hub). I was introduced to Andrew, through a friend, when I decided to start cycling. He was smiling then and I always see him smiling now (these times have not been in his shop). He offered me advice then, and also said his door was open if I ever needed anything else. From what I have heard, seen and read, I think Andrew has done more than his share for cycling. I joined the Cycle Lab club and will support him if and when I can.
  16. I have forwarded this link to one of the producers. He has actually asked me to put up a post to see what it is you guys would like. I am now too late They have tried to do bike tests, but believe it or not, suppliers don't want to do it. I think, brands are scared of getting bad publicity. They have also tried the phone in, but the "module" that does this is quite technical and full ****. It works during testing, and then they tried to use it for an interview and ... This guy is serious about giving the viewers what they want (and if he can), so lets change things from b1tching, and post here, what you would like to see, and how you would like the show structured. One of the ideas was to structure the show eg: first 10 mins is local, next 10 mins is International, next 10 mins is technical. This way, if you don't like technical, you can flip channels after 20 mins, or if you don't like international, have a 10 min coffe break in between. You would not be glued to the tv waiting to see if there's something you like, only to find out there wasn't. I have met Arnie, Andrew and Owen. They have a great sense of humour and are great people to talk to. It's unfair to judge their character from a show. Due to being a little leader in my sector, I have been on TV a few times, and I can tell you (after watching myself) that that is not who I am. It is hard being yourself, when you get told (through your earpiece) your shirt is not strait, don't look at the lights, stop fidgeting with your hands etc, all this while concentrating on what you have to say, whithout the ums and buts and using the correct language as the shows are live. I agree that a lot of people aren't happy with the content etc, but with your help, you guys could get a lot more. Post away...
  17. eish, sorry, only read this now, and would've joined. To be fair, I must have been tired, as I only woke up at 12:30pm today
  18. Where to start... to the guy that fell in front of me, hope it wasn't me distracting you. This guy was giving it horns and I was taking pics... next thing is this horrible grinding sound... it looked a little sore To the rest of you, I am sure I can get a couple of leather suits from the motorcycle training academy. Do you guys not realize that there is a lack of suspension, proper slicks and tyre warmers !!! To the public, even if you don't want to ride, make a turn and come watch. It was fun and it needs more spectators and support. Between Troy and Zoo doing some arm twisting, I might ride next week wif the wife on the tandem. It was great to see all the familiar faces again, some who stay quite a distance away
  19. Well, if you do need the bus, or I can help out in any way... just shout I can also pick you up / drop you off at the air harbour / your house or any where else, before / after the ride. Pocketbikes2008-09-23 03:31:04
