  1. Hog, I thought about it, but it would be too expensive. I want all three locks, purchased and mated to the keys for that price. Randburg locksmiths charge R120 per lock to mate with the key. I will bargain him down to R100 each (trade pricing). No one really buys locks from the scrapyard, so I should get those cheap as well. Shaunh, busy building an east rand motor for a northern suburbs friend. We had the 30L V6 block rebored and also cut the cranks. I can't measure crank clearances during the day, thanks to kids and cell phones. I can concentrate better when things have quietened down in the evenings. Fatcyclist, thanks. To be really honest, it's not that much work and it's a basic procedure. Hagar, that cake was great. This job was paid for then already. I'm not into sponge type cakes that much, as they are normally dry and you need a cup of coffee for every bite. This cake, however, was the opposite... you didn't want to spoil the cake with coffee. I was honest with another hubber, I actually had another 10 or 11 pieces on the way home. Wolverine, and everyone else, thank you for the kind words.
  2. Eish guys, you make me . It's not nice seeing someone down, after what happen. Going through claims, dropping off and collecting car, increase in premiums etc would just make the experience worse. I am quite sure we can replace locks and side window, cheaper than the excess, which would save some bucks and no claim. The nice thing about SP's car, is the door panels and locks come out easily and they never touched the ignition. The hard part is to find second hand locks. One would expect scrap yards to be full of these, but not around the Randburg area. New locks from Toyota is expensive, pirate locks aren't always that strong and then you'd have two keys, one for the doors and one for the ignition. The idea is to get second hand locks and let the locksmith mate them to the original keys. Will keep you updated
  3. Someone's still wide awake... classic...
  4. Ouch. Zoo, you better be nice, you will be riding in his territory on the 28th Ok, sorry for being distant all, but I have had and still do have some virus or something on this PC of mine. It's a lot better now, but I think the malware software deleted some of my windows files. Everything works fine till the computer needs to re-boot, then all it does is re-boot at the login stage.Over and over. The addres is 889 Golden drive, Benoni. Once you are on Golden drive, the road will bend to the right and then a little further to the left. At this bend, you will see a road to your right and the entrance is just after that road, on your left. The company is called PMD Transport and it has a big red gate. If the gate is open, you will see a **** load of red trucks. Miguel said that if they are working, it will be better to park in the open space, opposite the entrance and there is a security gaurd. If they are not busy, we can park inside. He is just scared a truck takes out one of our cars. If there aren't too many cars, we can park inside irrespectively.
  5. I stand to correction, but in Australia, they either pay TV license but they do not have interruptions (adverts), or the don't pay but have adverts. Just not sure which way round. Here, they make money from both. If you can't see the difference between HD and normal, have you system/installation checked. I saw HD in the Multichoice buildings, and I felt like I could "touch" what was on TV. It really is something else. Do I need it... no, I don't even have DSTV. I will be following in Muxman's shoes soon (for the family), my kids are now asking for it as their friends at school talk about programs and my laaitie is lost. I just find it hard to pay R450 odd, and from what I hear, there are plenty repeats.
  6. If I told you it was on a jack with the rear wheels in the air, would you believe me Wherever you go, you get the "what can she do mister?" question thrown at you. I was a bit curios myself, when the owner (a good friend of mine from the east) threw the keys at me and told me to pilot it. Now I now it's dangerous, but that was our decision. What I didn't want to do was hurt other innocent road users, hence the late hours at night on a very quite stretch of road. What I can tell you is, she is one hell of a beast. The restricter comes in at that point, and you actually feel the car hold back. Tap off, hit it again and it goes straight back without any hassle.
  7. What dash is that PB ? Also a CLK, just the bigger brother, 500. I have to agree with everything WW had to say about the car. We also had the roof down early hours of the morning (could hear the exhaust better), and the heated seats do the job. The one thing WW didn't have to do was to fill up the tank before giving it back.
  8. should I post this one for you?
  9. So you got a 705? How did it go today?

  11. eish, were to start. Sammajoor already thanked all the people, so I will just give my take for the day. Marshals, you guys can show anyone, anywhere, how it's done. Considering that none of you had communication between each other, you all knew where to be and when. Frikkie, thanks for being delivery boy. As people were taking there warmer clothes off, I was passing it to Frikkie, who in turn took it to the bus. To the riders, well done for all the waving at the intersections. I have never seen so many motorists, so patient, waiting at a green robot on a Sat morning. A LOT of them even waved back. To those that weren't there, please believe me when I tell you we went through some busy intersections and we never stopped once. Sammajoor, your daughter looked like she had won a pageant, sitting on top of the convertable. Nancy Drew, I am sorry. I never thought of mentioning that kids could come with as the bus has a DVD player.
  12. Eish... Hi all. Sorry been so quite, been trying to get rid of a virus the whole day. The wife can't get someone to look after her shop, so she's out. Just got of the phone to Frikkie... he and his marshals can't wait Ooooh, a CLK diesel.... I want....Weather for tomorrow... 9 - 26 and sunnyTo every one who has something to do with this ride, Mercedes, Cruzer, Shaunh, Sammajoor, Slowpoke and the marshals See you all tomorrow...
  13. With pleasure. It will be there between 6:00 and 6:15. I wanna be there to introduce Frikkie and the other riders to Shaunh. They need a quick crash course "Marshaling for dummies"
  14. CLK The post on pg 15 says convertible SLK/CLK. Knowing the value of a CLK convert, I presumed they were giving a SLK
  15. Hope you make it too. Plus, you can buy into a lucky draw to ride a Merc slk for a weekend. Pocketbikes2008-09-03 13:27:33
  16. Shaunh, I also have an amber light, magnetic with cigarette lighter jack. I know the Vito's have a lighter socket at the back of the bus. I will bring it with as well. SP, I can also take the cake for you if you need. I have 3 confirmed marshals, still waiting for the 4th. If needed, due to kids, supporters, photographers and family, we can also use my Vito. Then we can have a lead, trailing and floating vehicle.
  17. I have an order for ?77.38. If you need it, give me a shout. Someone would have to post to JHB though. There are always hubbers up and down as well.
  18. I have a ?40 order now and could be a ?70 order after I speak to people this Sat
  19. I spoke to Hagar this morning to help him out with his unit. He had found out that the unit had just been delivered to Avnic CT. Maybe Avnic CT will upgrade him to a 705 for all his hassles and riding around. To be fair though, as with Muxman, I don't think this is Garmin/Avnic's fault. Yet they still upgraded Muxman, now that is good service. As everyone knows, I put my nuts on the block when it comes to their service. I think it's hard for them to babysit their dealers. The dealers should look after their own name!
  20. ShaunH, thanks for the offer of the vests. One guy has confirmed he can't make it. So we still have 3 confirmed that they are and another 1 still waiting for an answer.
  21. Garmin really do give good service. Took in a friends Nuvi 200 last Monday. They offered her an upgrade, at a price, which she declined. She got her new one delivered to her work on Wednesday. Hagar you got pm.
  22. very nice, well done
  23. Looking at you now, I would never have guessed it. Well done
