  1. Shaunh, do you need Gary to ride the bus? I need to "book" him, if you do.
  2. I think it's great. The hard work is starting to pay off.
  3. Boskruin Village Hardware had/has the Panasonic CR2354 @ R15.90 (10-May-07). They are situated at the corner of Pres Fouche and Hawken, in Bromhof. They are also in the Garmin units under shopping "Boskruin Village" or S26 05.260 E27 57.500 You can also call them on 011 793-7377 to confirm stock. Eish... changing my hub name to Walking Yellow Pages
  4. The battery it uses is a CR2032. They are between R10 - R15.
  5. Sikes, it's here: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=29841 Hog, come join us at that Hub ride, even HR is also coming. You even stand a chance to ride a Merc for a weekend. I have a Bianchi size 54 that you are welcome to. It's in great nick, but is still stick shift !
  6. Hog, I will join you on the Paulshof side.
  7. Only kidding. Hope the assassin RELOADS recovers soon.
  8. Sorry guys, been out for most of the day. Bobby, I tried calling (4 times), so you must be cross with me. It looks like we are going to have to miss this one. Funds and flues are the main reason. I think some of us were really looking forward to the meet and the ride at Giba, so, can't we organize something for the weekend of Amashova? This would make things a lot more cost effective as most would be going down anyway.
  9. almost forgot... Mercedes and Cruzer
  10. CLK 350 or 500? Used a buddy's 500 and it doesn't fill up at the garage, if you leave it idling. Even worse if you have a heavy size 8 shoe. So, if no one rides the bus, Shaunh can't ride topless... just joking Shaun. Gary rides my Vito and knows where all the funny buttons are, I am also 99.9% sure he will ride the bus for us. Cruzer, hope that model has the GPS... Shaunh might get lost and only come back on Monday
  11. The wife is the same... what time do we leave, when is the first stop, have you got the spare, when is the next stop, what time do we arrive, have you got enough money in case of emergency, is the cell phone charged etc, and this is just to go down to the shop ! I am easy. Hr and Delgado, what do you guys suggest. What do you suggest, Zoo.
  12. I divided the accommodation by the 6 people. 800 div 6 = R135 + R370 for transport: 1 night = R505 + 200 (bike) + R65 (lunch) = R 770 (leave late Friday) 2 nights = R640 + 200 (bike) + R65 (lunch) = R 905 (leave early Friday) Pocketbikes2008-08-06 11:34:54
  13. OK... to those that are/want to go to Durbs from JHB... Traveling and accommodation comes to R505 per person (this has been blown up a bit, so it's definitely not more). This wouldn't change much whether we are 6 or 8 people. If there are 8 people, we would need to get another cottage. So... who's coming?
  14. Don't you find it funny that he never hit anyone off, from the front of the pack. (the two of them might have got a beating). I find it too coincidental that he pics one of the last riders. If the rider had done something wrong, why didn't both of them go for him? It looks more like a casual walk back to the sidewalk, after the cycles had passed. The way he puts his weight into knocking the guy off his bike is also pathetic. That rider might have hurt his back, neck or head (if you watch the slow replay). This is my opinion, without having seen what the rider might/might not have done.
  15. Smittie, congrats. Is it your first?
  16. Hey all... that was great. KonaFan, thanks for all the organizing. To every single person out there today, thanks for the chats and whether cold or uphill, everyone had a smile. It was great ! Ewep... slow... yah right, those oblong chain rings of yours work. You trap that Canondale like you stole it IanJ and Sonic... respect guys. I am sure your milage was double ours. The same to the guys that did climb 5 One last thing... if anyone has found Chillie's brain, please give it back to here. She made it look as if Zoo and myself were looking for parking, while thinking she was on a MTB going over the speed bumps, down one of the hills. Here's hoping everyone made it home safe, especially those that cycled home.
  17. where's my manners? SP and Smittie, I am taking the bus, so you can get a lift if you want. I promise I won't be late! SP, do a checklist and include shoes. I got my chain
  18. HR, I'm easy... Anytime is fine with me. What time do the others want to leave. We can leave anytime during the day, but then there will be an extra nights accommodation. We can also leave late on Friday and be there Sat morning. Whatever you guys feel is best. Pocketbikes2008-08-01 07:07:27
  19. HR, Delgado, Zoo and any other interested parties... spoke to Bobbie about accommodation, so that we can get a final figure. She will look for accommodation for as and come back here. Thanks Bobbie, for all your running around
  20. Eish... ignoring me now... For the JHB people, calculations are: (with extras, in case) JHB to Durban and back, plus milage down there= 1300 kms At a bit of a heavy consumption of 10kms/l = 130 litres Diesel price (going up on Wed = R12.50 X 130 = R1625 Toll gates, there and back= R 590 Total = R2215 6 people = R370 8 people = R280 Budget on the worst case of R370. If we can fill the other 2 spots, it's a bonus. We need to know if we are still going, as some might want to do the Tour de Soweto if we don't go. Entries for T de S close today at 18H00. Are we still going?
  21. rad006, rad006, rad006... you had way too much energy (talk about gels spiking). You and my son are competing for a Duracell advert That 3/2 wheeler looks a lot better without the rear mudguards, and 1.2 kg's lighter. Nice pic
  22. Damn... my home town. Where you staying, Funchal (cobblestones by the church). I had a hard time driving there, due to the narrow roads - keep safe. Could be a joll taking the cable car from Funchal to the top of the mountain, then do some down hill . You can also cycle to the "BIG shopping centre" (Madeira Shopping)in San Antonio and then rest all the way down. I can't think of a section of road that is flat for more than 2 k's We've got an apartment just behind the casino, on Rua de Infante. Things got horribly expensive when the Escudo changed to the Euro, so haven't visited for a while.
  23. Now I know why I struggled . Never mind doing it twice, I struggled on the first hill! 12-23 is all I got. Can one buy loose gears?
  24. If the one's name is Evox, what's the other's name?
  25. 4 days of silence, must I be worried? Come Gauteng, we need at least 2 more people to join and help share the costs. Does no one have family they would like to visit? HR, about the bikes, either way is fine with me. I think we will need a venter of sorts for the luggage. To limit everyone to one medium tog bag for kit, helmet and clothes would be unfair. Does anyone now someone who has a venter that can carry bikes? Then you, Zoo and whoever else can bring their own bikes. The wife and I just started riding now, so we will hire bikes. (wouldn't know the difference between riding a Specialized to a Makro special )
