  1. Yeah I saw the Porlex mentioned earlier in this thread but I see it's around R2k which is more than I have to spend
  2. Advice on which hand grinder to get? Looking for a gift for my brother. Budget is around R1,000....what about this: https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/products/hario-skerton-ceramic-burr-manual-coffee-grinder?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product+display&utm_campaign=Shopping+Feeder&variant=816654413&sfdr_ptcid=123_617_149646&sfdr_hash=b05a9fea5fc4295454b1193c928475eb&gclid=CjwKCAjw26H3BRB2EiwAy32zhQ_7tb4MDqRg2WQw6jGx5ySSl3Bes06Ub9fz5sans6GHDeGI_4BBHxoC5E8QAvD_BwE Thanks
  3. 22,000 people registered so far (across all distances)....you won't be alone out there.
  4. About 1,000 people registered to run 90kms so far.
  5. Depends what your objectives are I think. Your question is kind of like which brand bike should I get to a certain degree....and so like the response to that question I think the best for this is to say go and try them all and see what you like. Many offer a free 7 day trial or something similar. My personal preference isn't on your list....Trainerroad. No gaming, just structured training.
  6. Exactly. Perhaps I'm completely missing this but I don't understand the panic over gym visits. Per a link posted earlier and the Discovery website https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/gym-visits-covid-19 Updates to the Vitality Gym benefitUnder normal circumstances, the Vitality gym benefit requires members to do at least 36 gym workouts during any 12-month rolling period. In these unusual times, we have adjusted the benefit for the stay at home period. For the duration of the stay at home period we will maintain the gym benefit as is for all our members. There is nothing that you need to do, as this will happen automatically. After the stay at home period is over the normal rules, terms and conditions will apply again. To me that reads : you don't have to worry about gym visits until the lockdown ends.
  7. Haha. I see they confirmed that the route is longer but they haven;t confirmed the route. So they know its going to be longer, they just don't know exactly where we will be running those 2kms. My guess is normal route, we're just going to do laps of UCT fields
  8. I have one.....its awesome
  9. Hahah. I love how cryptic even that response is.
  10. Haha, he dropped the bomb and then left to watch the chaos that ensued thereafter. To be honest only reason I took the bait is that I've heard this rumour in different circles (not just CT cyclists). And a TOM silver is definitely harder than Comrades. No doubt about that.
  11. Given this years communication plan I would guess Friday 10 April
  12. I doubt they will change silver time. Comrades has never changed the 7:30 cut off as far as I know and the route changes slightly often.
  13. Unless you are on the cusp of a medal but ya otherwise no real issue is it as long as we still get to run chappies (fingers crossed)
  14. My guess would be that they want to keep Chappies and that change would be something involving Main Road. Possibly a slightly different start (or finish for that matter if they wanted to move away from UCT). Problem with Chappies is unrest in Hout Bay but I can;t imagine they would move away from the chappies route if they could help it
  15. I've heard the rumour before but still havent seen any actual confirmation?
  16. It's definitely noticeably heavier than my usual road shoes.
  17. OK so two short runs completed. Both around 1hr / 10kms. Ran up to the block house and then along the contour path a bit and then ran in Mont Rochelle Reserve in Franschhoek. Mont Rochelle is very Rocky with steep ascents and descents. I have no real frame of reference but... Grip was great. Never felt like I had an issue. Soles offered good protection, I never felt any sharp rocks while running. Felt pretty stable coming down although I am very slow descending. All in all very happy with the Brooke's so far
  18. Just bought a pair. My first pair of trail shoes... Currently 0kms on them but heading to cape Town this weekend and planning on hitting some trails. Will let you know how they do
  19. Thanks
  20. This is my problem with trail running and my lack of experience. Panorama circuit at Jonkershoek looks awesome but at 14-17km I have no idea how long that will take. On the road its so easy to estimate ETA. I guess thats the beauty of trail running though.
  21. Cool thanks. As I understand it Mont Rochelle is basically the reserve/area beyond Franschhoek, around the pass. I've seen trails off to the side when riding a road bike up the pass...just need to find best way onto the mountain. Google map time.
  22. Trail runners I need some advice on routes please (Western Cape). Looking for any routes max length around 1:45min (rest week for me after marathon on Sat so I don't want anything super long) Staying in Franschhoek on Wed and Thursday night so looking for a least one route. Was thinking Mont Rochelle reserve but don't know anymore than that. What do you recommend? Then staying near Zorgvliet in Stellies on Friday night so looking for a run either on Friday afternoon or Sat morning. I'm clueless so looking for any help / direction.....
  23. I couldn't agree with you more. Trying to resolve an issue for business banking via the call centre is possibly the worst thing I have to do as part of my job. I will put it off for as long as I can because I know that I'm just going to get kicked around from extension to extension with no real help or resolution. 40min on the phone later someone will tell me they can't help.... its been escalated. Don't get me started on the fact that when you first call the number listed as "Business Banking support" you land up speaking to someone about Personal Sales. Mental.
  24. Nice interview with Brad Binder ahead of next / this year https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/motogp/brad-binder-ktm-s-next-big-thing?utm_campaign=1260729_Mat%20Oxley%20-%20140120%20-%20Binder&utm_medium=email&utm_source=emailCampaign&dm_i=4DIP,R0S9,3QQGHP,388X8,1
