  1. They are almost walking distance from your work.
  2. Yip, my pod is still Garmin but if you get a Dual(ant+/bluetooth) Wahoo pod works well, my wife uses one.
  3. Sounds like a good bike at a decent price, is it the correct size for you? if so Nice bike, MVDP can not be wrong.
  4. One thing that I must mention, recently I started putting my Garmin 540 to "sleep" instead of switching it completely off after each ride, now I get more than a week on a charge, I typically ride 3 times during normal weekdays and Saturday long ride 2-3 hours and some Sundays.
  5. One of the main reasons, I use Garmin is Vitality, so I have become so used to the ecosystem.
  6. Good thing that I did not enter this year, maybe my training will be up to scratch in November.
  7. I think wahoo is a good alternative, I am a Garmin fan-boy but my soft strap is a Wahoo.

  17. Recently 2 cyclists got knocked very badly in the Edenvale area(Gauteng) by a Lady that went across 4 lanes and hit them head on, apparently, she was on some medication, one cyclist is in hospital in an induced coma, other one recovering with a few broken bones.
  18. ICE band is the easiest and very cheap, R110 last time I got mine.
  19. Looks like a near perfect day out - I am not even riding, and I am getting excited.
  20. I think I have won the Garmin lotto, I have had a number of garmin products with only one issue, I bought a FR205 with Zero issues, then I bought a FR225 "unboxed" from Garmin when they still did the unboxed deals, it failed within 6 months, that was replaced by a FR235, I had that for around 2 years sold it bought a Vivoactive 4, after 2 years, I bought a FR965, still have it, all of the watches with Zero issues, Not even mentioning my Edges, I had an Edge 500, then got a 810, sold it got a 520, sold it and got a 530 on a Evans cycles Black Friday special, passed that onto my wife and I now have an Edge 540, all with Zero issues. My only problem so far is the heart rate straps, I use a very old wahoo strap with a Garmin pod - as I said I think I won the Garmin Lotto.
  21. Link your Garmin connect account, you don't get the same points through Strava and if you go on the endurance athlete you score more.

  25. You mentioned that another bike was much easier getting up hills, have you checked all the bearings and brakes on the bike you battle with, I had a Silverback with quick release axle and the bearings was a bit loose and if you put the power down, the disc would bind, that cased the bike to feel "heavy" , after I fixed that the bike felt easier.(still riding that bike in a different se-tup)
