  1. If you ma(r)ke(t) it... they will buy it.
  2. And it shall be named SPARTA!!
  3. Found some Gem roads on the way to Groot Marico. Long day out, but loads of fun.
  4. Spot of Mud on Saturday at Moddefontein (Would have been counterintuitive not have a dry ride) Bikes took a beating, but The Ride for a reason event was great fun. Well organised (except for too few toilets, and not enough cold beers)
  5. Cycling is PD. If I had to pay R400 each time the 3 bikes in my household is washed, lubed and indexed, I'd be even more bankrupt.
  6. That's not going to f$%king happen...
  7. Options with deadlines are important. As mentioned multiple times on this mildly entertaining thread, communication is key. Give options according to responses, but then communicate by providing deadline - "If buyer A does not pay by x amount of time, I'm moving on to Buyer B"
  8. All these signals when cycling sounds like a Hennie's session... "Remember to Howl with the rider that falls off the back of the bunch...."
  9. Colin Meyer colin(at)bikebeyond.co.za 082 three three ate 9593 This is from the Go2sea group, where Colin offers rental e-bikes for the event.
  10. Hope you guys manage to stay unscathed. War does not determine who is right, only who is left.
  11. @Spokey is everything OK??
  12. Man, I love that part of SA. Been through Tankwa twice now. Those vistas are something else.
  13. Also saw a Junior lady going at quite a pace, with what I assume was her mother (or spirit animal) on an Ebike giving her a push on the dirt roads. Wanted to get a race number, but my uhhm, slow ass, only saw the back of them briefly. Have helicopter parents now changed mode of transport to E-bikes? I'm really trying to not have animosity towards ebikes, due to the acessibility factor, but there's always one or two soiling the image of the collective.
  14. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of singletrack. Had loads of fun. On the E-bike rage-quit topic: When I got to the underwhelming waterpoint (I wasn't expecting a buffet - but at least some sugary stuff to snack quickly) there was a person who's Ebike derailleur battery was dead (kinda counterproductive to have a huge battery, but the wee gear-changer thingy doesn't run off it.) This person made it abundantly clear that he was not willing to wait for the sweep vehicle, and riding purely on his battery will not last the rest of the "race". Demanded the organiser's number to summarily send a vehicle to collect him. I was quite surprised at this lack of resilience displayed by this person. Due to the event taking place on school grounds, there was no beer tent. Something that was sorely missed, people sat around looking depressed, some even distraught. Some brave souls had some of the Zero beer on offer, but even when I concentrate really hard, and squint slightly, it still does not taste like beer. More toilets please.
  15. I'm a bit surprised that E-pace drivers have not raised their "I'm offended" sign because of being called "creeps" in the topic title.
  16. I find that much like my riding, participation on the Bikehub is slow lately, a head-start is required to get enough group momentum to have some nice pace going into Friday. (I'm trying to keep my comments cycling-related)
  17. It was announced on Saturday that the winners will be contacted to receive their prizes. They would have to make their own podium and get a rent-a-crowd if they want an actual prize giving. Please post youtube video of the ceremonies.
  18. Your options are: 1) Decrease font size 2) Add a teaspoon of cement to your hydration 3) Buy E-bike 4) Find an analogue - only group 5) Ride solo.
  19. Nope, not an excuse. But a reality. As is driving recklessly and disrespectfully.
  20. There is a thread on another forum and the point of the "draconinan" "over zealous" nanny-statedness of said nanny state was brough up. Without going into details, it was related to enforcement of what the poster believed to be stupid traffic laws. In my mind, such enforcement and over zealous applications of the law is the only way to systematically educate ALL ROAD USERS. From pedestrians, through to cyclists (both recreational and commuters, and as mentioned above delivery service workers) as well as motorists and HMV operators. It's just a small part in having a functional society, and the general lack of adherence to the law specifically relating to road rules, points to greater issues within our South African society at large.
  21. On this point. I think the cyclists in this case was the trigger, but the cause of the reaction of the P)#S in the white bakkie, to be out of proportion to the perceived transgression is due to a lot of other external psychological factors. Hence my Penguin-Shark analogy. (Or seals even) I had to take the cage to work this morning, and my frustration levels due to the ignorance and distractedness of drivers in traffic was through the roof. Being "stuck" in a cage constantly subjected to this stupidity with no way to escape had me feeling increasingly angry. Now multiply this by about 100, when someone is under stress at work, or at home, also financially and the straw that breaks the camel's back does not have to be particularly big or heavy.
  22. It's also good for survival to not resemble a penguin when swimming with Sharks.
  23. I'm just glad they check the boot only when leaving. Because all the contraband I deliver daily at these places remain undiscovered. Road Rage - I can probably write a book on it. ( It will probably not be very pleasant to read) From both sides of the spectrum. I can from a personal point say that stress from external factors such as work/family/financial has a direct relation on the severity of road rage experienced. The Meek will inherit the earth. In this case, the ones with their anger under control.
  24. Damn Hairy, I was hoping for the better, but I would agree with the others to part (pun intended) ways with that KTM and move onto other things. I understand people go through personal things, but when it starts affecting business dealings, He should have manned up earlier and said, Sorry, My life is a trainwreck, please collect your bike, and I will pay back your money. It's been painful following this, must have been 10 times worse for you.
  25. ....and what about cannabis use? Seems to be an acceptable practice these days to get high before and even while driving.
