  1. Is missed the "longest post" competition being launched by admin... Good luck with everyone's carpel tunnel...
  2. Will be going nowhere for the foreseeable future. spent yesterday and today trying to extract the broken seatpost, and in the process managed to damage the seat tube at it’s thinnest point. I’m not going into details, but needless to say, I am more than a little angry at myself. And the f@cking seatpost is still in there… just sitting there, laughing at my incompetence.
  3. Easy ride with the missus yesterday, she wasn’t feeling it, so we took it real easy. I had a bit of an incident where As I took a small jump, my left foot came out of the cleat (I know, I did lots wrong, that was just a unfortunate result of my silliness) as I was launching off the dirt…I knew the landing was going to be an issue. Not quite sure what happened, but I guess, I landed with my ass on the saddle, which in turn snapped my seatpost clean off at the seat tube clamp. I ended up having my knee and shin attacked by my pedal, which as we all know, is nice and painful. My right hamstring made contact with the spinning rear tyre, and thank goodness for my indola baggies, which got a nice tyre burn on, and saved my skin. Now my seatpost has been stuck in the frame for a number of years (steel and ally) and I guess now, I have a reason to remove it without saving it. Before the carnage… Still enjoying my ride… I stood riding all the way back to the car, and I must say I did not expect the dropper post experience in this way…
  4. Sad, and completely unnecessary. Impatience, and selfishness taking the ultimate toll.
  5. The "hazards" brigade. I guess in their mind it really is an emergency that they are unsure, left or right...forwards or backwards. The only telling thing is that they indeed are a hazard on the road.
  6. Problem is partially market, and partially terrain… Do I want a 140mm plush slack trail shredder? Hell yes. Will I use it for its intent? Not up in Gauteng. The lack of ski-lifts, or parks with sufficient elevation drives the market as much as the lifestyle marketers does. (Neverminfd the fact that I am not in the market, and If I was, Rapide would have my money before you can say grey) I’m sure if you bring in a couple of bikes, they will sell, easily. Like chris says, Saffa’s like a bargain. In “our” defense… you did ask the “serious cyclists” opinion, and of course they will tell you it will not work, as you are not serious enough to deserve their money.
  7. If there is a picture of something advertised on an online store, and the description and picture do not match, I will not purchase. I prefer to see a photo (generic is fine) so I at least know the e-shop at least pays attention to what they put on the web, and hopefully the same will go into the box.
  8. Currently switching between Green bean coffee beans ( close to my house, and on my cycle route) and Fingers Crossed’s beans ( whatever they have roasted in the shop) I cant really decide on a favourite. I too have have decided that although convenient in an emergency, I will not resort to the woolworths beans again. For anyone else perusing this thread, that is also not in the machine buying boat, I have been more than satisfied with my manual grinder, and Mokka pot. I’m not a consumer of milk, thus a simple black americano is my go-to. Biggest “game changers” for me was getting the manual grinder, and consuming small batches of fresh beans.
  9. Yeah, I avoid mornings, too many people, with zero awareness of their surroundings. With Lockdown, and WFH I was very fortunate to be able to do week rides there, the whole place basically to oneself is priceless.
  10. It was just a post in jest, mainly from the people speaking to mechanics about the weird noise their car makes, at which point when the mechanic inspects the car or drives with the person, the noose is of course not there. I’ll try and keep my attempts at humour to the few NCR topics that still float around here…
  11. These threads used to be a lot more fun when people tried to explain the noise.. none of this "Using Technology" witchcraft...
  12. As for all these CT pics, I reckon you could accidentally press the “photo” button on the camera, and still get an awesome shot. Like the one murican commented on some of my Lesotho pics on a moto forum: “That scenery is very photogenic” F-all to do with my camera skills… lol.
  13. I have a lot of respect for these tall horses. I am very wary of getting too close to them. These ones are very calm, and gets exposed to humans a lot. So they are not skittish. That said, I’m not taking chances, and I do not want to be on the receiving end of their hoofs or pointy bits on their heads.
  14. Man, those CT pics are something. Our weather has also been very nice, 23° on the way to the trails, and perfect for riding. saw some real tall hikers along the trails and of course, recovery is very important…
  15. Spent the week on the indoor trainer, work has picked up a bit, so my “free time” became restricted. Took leave on friday as I had to go do my moto learners and went for a ride at around 2pm in the cradle. Tyre issues about 30mins in. Bombed and carried on. I kept on slowly loosing pressure. The tyre had a small hole just above the rim due to a pinch from a hard landing on an exposed rock, too small to put a plug in, as the canvas would have just tore more, and I was running low on bombs. ( one left) Kept going at a sedate pace, trying to keep weight off the rear ( not smart on the dirt) went till the squishyness became wobblyness and figured I’m close enough to the car that if I do plug and bomb it, and the pressure doesnt hold, that the hike will not be too bad. as I was rummaging through my tool pouch, I came across 2 of those really tiny “worms” I could never figure out their usefulness due to the skewer I have makes a bigger hole than the worm can plug. I had a wee brainfart, and decided to try and insert the worm lengthways next to the rim and the tyre, to hopefully close the hole with pressure being applied ( see photo, as I’m sure my explanation sucks) this seemed to have done the trick, and i managed to avoid the hike. Well deserved:
  16. Got my learners yesterday, must say the process at Westonaria is quite smooth, there is never more than 10 people in the row, worth the drive out there. now.. to book for my actual license test….soon
  17. I can’t take their website serious with all the spelling mistakes. “Swift” in stead of Zwift? I’m not on facebook, and using that website is like going to the dentist.
  18. The more things change... the more they stay the same...
  19. Think the OP wants the cover for the battery. https://www.ikhambi.co.za/support-request These are the distributors, they should be able to hopefully assist.
  20. Nice First Post!! Welcome to the Bikehub.
  21. Thanks for that Hairy, pretty cool vid. was expecting weirdly dressed riders and beer stops. But this is pretty cool.
  22. My learners (I know... dont give a procrastinator more **** than is required) expired last week, so I have booked for another test next week. In Westonaria (about 50mins from where I live...only slots available. ) The actual driver's test is another story alltogether.
  23. very difficult to get an appointment tho. (here in Gauteng)
