As soon as I posted and saw that I'd put "racing" in the title instead of "road" I wondered how long it would take. I do apologise ... if I end up getting a mountain bike I would race on it too.

I've been toying with getting a mountain bike for a while now (traffic, irate drivers etc) but as yet have only been a roadie. Lately I'm really toying with the idea of letting my road bike go on to someone who is braver than I on the roads and get myself a really nice mountain bike with the money I get for the road bike (otherwise I'll have to save up forever and ever and ever to get a really nice mountain bike) So what do you say? Both? Only road? Only mountain?

You can't put a tow bar on by they are allowed to breakdance on roof tops. I didn't buy that specific model unfortunately.

Quick hijack ... I've got a Chev Spark - goes without saying I can squeeze one bike into the car but two is totally out of the question. Not allowed to put a towbar on because then I'd lose my warranty so I've been looking at the Bones or Hang-On option - anyone have an idea of price?

I had a Fuji SL Alu frame way back and before I had to replace the frame (thank you to the motorist that didn't see me ...) I first upraded my gruppo and then got better wheels and then a couple of other odds and ends (handlebars, stem, seatpost etc) New frame didn't make as much of a difference as all the other goodies. My 5c ...

Do what Big_H said ... I had the same problem, followed the instructions above and it works fine now.

Ok ... also could someone please explain what the pros and cons are of full suspension versus hardtail?? I'm really not all that jacked up on mountain bikes at all so really appreciate any help ...

I'd like to get a bike that I can progress to bigger things on ... not meaning that I want to take on the Epic but will start off small and probably move on to marathons.

Hi everybody ... hope everyone had a great holiday. I'm back from my holiday - said holiday gave me enough time to think (which is dangerous) about getting a mountain bike. Having been a roadie for a good few years now I'd like to a) try mountain biking which looks like much fun, and b) get off of the tar because its becoming a bit of a warzone between us cyclists and motorists So that said ... I am in need of some advice on what too look for in a mountain bike. My budget is not limitless and I'll have to save up a bit but I appreciate that with cycling you tend to get what you pay for - I'm a competitive person so would like to get a decent bike (although R45000 is completely and totally out of my price range ) So let me know ... components, frame, price etc. Thanks a million

Another question - will we be able to license through the Hub club? And if so, will the ladies that are licensed be required to actually race? Ok ok I'm going now ...

White Lightning - I wash my bike once a week and then lube once its dry. That's it - works ok for me.
