  1. agree 100%. that will be the only way that all will be equal. What about the climbers that have to ride on the flat stages??
  2. try riding at 4:30 in winter... thats no joke
  3. the L2L was easy. Expect to do almost twice the time. It is harder than it looks. especially after the last waterpoint. thats last couple of climbs can be quite tough if you are not feeling well by that point
  4. get a 26" with a XS frame. my daughter is 10 and it is perfect for her
  5. where can I get new padding ( cage type) for a zuma helmet?
  6. I would suggest doing about one trip per week of about 100km offroad, and with climbing above 2000m. Not technical, but tough and then 2-3 more over 30km per week. This should be the least that you do to minimise the pain. I would try to average 250 a week. Last year I did 200 a week and almost died.
  7. yeah. I was asleep by 10, but felt dead by 6

  14. Last year in the transbaviaans I blew just before the climb to badplaas. Started cramping and had to push my bike up the hill. I think that was about halway. Had to ride with cramps and severe nausia for another 7 hours. Was totally f@cked mentally for the rest of the season. Everybody needs to learn a lesson some time, but I would prefer not to have it like this again
  15. From oak valley you can go on to the n2. From the gate of paul cluver there is a singletrack section taking you to thandi. From there you can go into libanon across the road, or go on the N@ 1 km past the houwhoek turnoff, in the dip on your left there is a left turnoff. Take it and 200m down the road you can turn right onto a gravel road. This will follow the railroad track till you exit at botriver. Great jeeptrack/farm road with good views and bloddy fast downhill all the way to botriver. From there make it interesting.. go all the way to the kleinmond turnoff, turn right, go up the mountain, down libanon and back to the N2. I will try and get a google image from my garmin.
  16. I struggled with that for 2 years. The answer : ASSOS chamois cream ( no other brands works ) VAYA Smooth ( i think it is pimple stuff - got it in the argus race pack) The vaya smooth burns like hell, but dries it out in a day. good luck
