  1. Bi surely?
  2. Not everyone can take their son for a ride up the busiest rode in Paris and get it closed to traffic! Rode there in 2000 for the Millennium celebrations, set off from Eiffel Tower around 6:30, did two laps and a bit then watched the start at 2pm. Robbie McEwen took the sprint. Awesome day out.
  3. Mens Road Race: Live from 10:50 to 17:15 on July 28th.
  4. I thought his "the lucky draw" reference was very clever. Who really cares what the guys say post ceremony? The Texan got all holier than thou about believing blah blah blah and the only stuff he believed in was that his doctors were smarter than any one else's. He thanked his team plenty before, every time he spoke to the press. But how amazing was his pull with 1.2km to go? The saxo tinkoff guys were just ridden off his wheel.
  5. Which podium girl did Sagan the Great bed last night?
  6. Wiggins is a traditionalist, accepted a few yellow bits of the bike before today but left the full yellow for the end. Notice the black shorts with the yellow jersey? Cav too, black shorts with the rainbow jersey. They are steeped in tradition and know the rules. Rule #15 Black shorts should also be worn with leader’s jerseys. Black shorts, or at least standard team-kit shorts, must be worn with Championship jerseys and race leadership jerseys. Don’t over-match your kit, or accept that you will look like a douche.

  8. Don't bother going. You'll only meets lots of pricks who can ride bikes really well. And probably embarrass the rest of us when people work out you are from around here.
  9. Why do you think they invented T20 and Sevens? Bird brain concentration levels followed by bird brain comments if no instant gratification. No doubt PnP with their replay on 1996 with name changes contribute to any boredom factor. They are just so beyond pathetic. I don't think I have ever seen this sort of disciplined performance by a TEAM before. And what is surprising, in every interview with a Sky guy, they all talk about the great set of guys they are riding with.
  10. That article is a possibility take by cyclismas.....not true!
  11. What are you wondering about? They cannot train you for racing.
  12. Wiggins looking to equal Bottecchia at 2013 Tour de France by Frank Mercer on Friday, July 20th, 2012 As Team Sky helicoptered through the transfer to Bonneval after the finish of stage 18 in Brive-la-Gaillarde with another Mark Cavendish sprint victory notched up, the heir-apparent to the 2012 Tour de France victory was already making plans for 2013. http://www.cyclismas.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Wiggo.jpeg Wiggins has certainly enjoyed his red carpet ride around France, courtesy of Froome and the rest of Sky’s serfs (photo courtesy of ITV) “I’ve always been someone who wishes to move on to new challenges. Now that I’ve conquered my first Tour de France it’s time to attempt a feat that has only been accomplished three times in the history of the Tour. I want to wear yellow from the prologue all the way to the Champs-Elysées next year,” declared Wiggins. As an avid student of cycling history, Wiggins stumbled upon the legend of Ottavio Bottecchia – the first person to wear the yellow jersey from start to finish as winner of the 1924 Tour – via a conversation with famed Scottish cycling journalist, Richard Moore. Moore was turned on to the story of Bottecchia by Herbie Sykes over an espresso in 2006 during a very animated Giro d’Italia. “I know that I’ve promised Chris (Froome) that he could have a shot at the Tour in 2013 and that I’d support him, but I think my goals are more important than his. After all, I’m higher on the seniority scale in GB Cycling and I don’t feel I’ve reached my peak yet,” continued Wiggins. “I think I have a chance at equalling a feat only done three times in Tour history, and one that hasn’t been accomplished since 1935.” Team Sky boss David Brailsford confirmed his support for Wiggins in his plan for 2013. “Considering that Brad and Fabian were the only two to wear the yellow jersey in the entire 2012 Tour, and the fact that we pretty much intimidated every single team in this race, it is distinctly possible that Brad could wear yellow from start to finish in 2013. No one can match our team strength on any stage on any day,” mused Brailsford. Eurosport cycling pundit David Harmon concurred with Brailsford. “Until the rest of the peloton grows a backbone, or Contador stays out of doping troubles, cycling is Wiggins’ domain to plunder as he wishes. He rides on the front for the sprints, and otherwise sits third wheel the entire race. He is a throwback to the great Kings and Queens of England. He truly is the king of cycling, no offense to Mark Cavendish or Sir Chris Hoy,” declared Harmon. Former Tour de France champion Greg LeMond weighed in with his thoughts. “Wiggins could lead the race, but only if Team Sky buys Alberto Contador’s and Andy Schleck’s contracts to sit them out of the Tour de France for the rest of their careers, or have them ride the front in support of Wiggins like they forced Froome to do this year. It’s what Hinault did, and also wanted to do to me back in the 80s,” stated LeMond. When asked about Wiggins’ statement, Chris Froome refused to comment directly. “We’ll start with the Vuelta and the Olympics, and see what happens from there. Anything is possible for 2013,” said a muted Froome. Stage 19 is Saturday, which should be the 53.5 km time trial coronation of Wiggins into his role as King of the Tour de France.
  13. What was I thinking? Oh dear, didn't bank on those fancy new Spesh tyres fletting on debut or CAS sticking his fingers into his spokes. As for Hoogerland, did he even start? Rolland Hesjedal Wiggins Martin Cavendish Sagan Chris Anker Sorenson Hoogerland Evans Team Sky, Garmin-Sharp, BMC Not even good enough for Lantern Rouge
  14. See the spinning class, a bit of wetness in there?
  15. That must rate as one of Cav's best ever sprints in the TDF. Just amazing.
  16. 1996 when Jan Ullrich sat behind Bjarne Riis. Then in 1997 he jumped him when Riis couldn't hold the wheel, and that was that. And Eric Zabel took Green. Total Domination by Telekom. ut even with this only 2nd in team classification. 2009 AC and 3rd for the Texan. I seem to remember AC being lambasted for not letting old doper get closer to him. A bit like Wiggins now? And of course 2 and 3 for the Schlecks last year.
  17. Not sure Froome can repeat. What is his TT normally like? Is he really strong in the TT normally?
  18. What is going to be said if Wiggo blitzes FroomeDog in the TT on Saturday?
  19. A dope free Contador might be easier to beat.
  20. Simple really. That's the sport of cycling in 3 points.
  21. links guys if you're going to be dredging up the past. Us newbies need help finding stuff!
  22. It's the boredom factor Dangle. Maybe they criteriums are more their speed. Or T20 cricket? No, even that takes more than a couple of hours. I'm seriously depressed today. 50 weeks till it all starts again. At least there is quite a bit happening in those 50 weeks bike riding wise. Except the idiot who put his flag into Cav's wheel, causing a bad fall and a broken Dogma. Some of them are serious dickheads. Most are great.
  23. There's been some cr@p written on this site during the tour but this has got to take the cake. Tommy V was just brilliant today, played his hand incredibly well.
  24. Another sucker
  25. A long term contract at Sky perhaps? And he seems to be a loyal honourable person. Not seems. Is. Cycling is not like football. Contracts are honoured and there are rules about poaching. And only a fool would leave Sky for any of the smaller teams. Even BMC is no guarantee of success, look at their new signings. All have had a 'mare of a season. Not to mention the fagg up with the Hog at RSN.
