  1. Cheap Lambo or expensive BMC bicycle at 20,000 US http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2012/04/18/1334779415855-etlz0ouhur84-670-75.jpg http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2012/04/18/1334779415837-2c25qihker5-670-75.jpg http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2012/04/18/1334779452042-j7t34ifnq4ix-670-75.jpg http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2012/04/18/1334779452043-1hjjo25du9f86-670-75.jpg http://www.bikeradar.com/road/news/article/bmc-impec-automobili-lamborghini-edition-launched-33743/
  2. Solostorm, you are wrong. Everyone he beat during the period 1999 to 2005 has subsequently been proved to have cheated by doping but he was clean and beat them because he was a better athlete. All the top runners-up have been caught. But Lance was just a better athlete who trained harder and recovered better. I too wish he had cleared his name rather than just squashing the investigation. I really enjoyed the Easter Eggs the Easter Bunny left in my garden this Easter and I am looking forward to Father Christmas coming down my chimney in December.
  3. I never get asked "have you done the Epic?" more like "Are you doing the Epic again next year?" See, a guy will always tell you he's done the Epic, you don't have to ask!
  4. Is that allowed en route in Ironman?
  5. What are we adding? Naked lady + bicycle = sale? Or is it an ad?
  6. What else does one do at the end the of a date? Surely this is why anyone dates?
  7. I stand by the thread name, ignoring your own daughter when she is there to give you your finishers medal (or any other reason) is the action of a knob.
  8. Super Six Evo or Synapse Hi Mod and a Scalpel 1 29er
  9. Section 35. Display of licence number (6) No person shall operate on a public road a motor vehicle— (a) on which a licence number or anything purporting to be a licence number, which is not applicable to such vehicle, is displayed; however (g) in or on which a number plate is carried on which a licence number appears which is not applicable to such motor vehicle or anything purporting to be a licence number, unless he or she provides evidence that such plate was not carried with criminal intent; I'd rather not be arguing criminal intent on my way to a holiday with my wife and kids in the car.
  10. Really nice. But who has the b*lls to turn up at a group ride or funride/race on one of these. All show and no go comes to mind.
  11. http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2012/04/01/sa-denies-pope-visa Pope Benedict the XVI has been denied a visa to visit the country. The Pontiff was previously planning a visit to the country in order to celebrate the life and work of Benedict Daswa, South Africa’s first saint. However the department of Home Affairs has rejected his Visa, on the grounds that he heads an organisation with possible links to money laundering. “This ‘Catholic Church’ of his is on the US money laundering watch list, and his bank has been linked to the fraudulent collapse of Banco Ambrosiano,” one department official told us. Further concern was apparently raised by his repeated calls for the end of the secular state, and past links with dictators. “He heads an organisation that was very closely aligned with Francisco Franco, and he himself was a member of the Hitler Youth,” Another source said, "we don't think he is joking when he says he opposes one of the bedrock principles of democratic law.” Catholic groups are outraged, claiming the real reason is pressure from the US following the Pope's call for an end to sanctions against Cuba. The president’s office could not be reached for comment.
  12. Please, please NO, keep this cheating symbol of all that has been wrong with cycling away from this great event and this great country. Move on guys, the Lying American is yesterday's man. Thank goodness he has moved into triathlon. Now let him stay there.
  13. Strava?
  14. Hey Slowbee, while you about it why don't you have a look at the highly offensive avatar of the Lying American, there is no place for such a provocative avatar in this great thread? It's just not right. He has retired and best no one reminds us of how big a cheat he allegedly is and how many drugs he took while destroying July for the clean cyclist.
  15. Try www.easygis.co.za when you are ready. I bought from them. Best price and great overnight delivery.
  16. The Sani or W2W is like half a morning on the Epic for 3 mornings. Yes if you are a fit cyclist and have done the season, you can ride the Epic. Slowly. Ride magazine did that in 2005 by chucking Martin Droske onto the race with a month's notice. He finished in plenty of hours but was very very tired every day. There are so many unknowns. One year we came across one of the favourites for the masters on the side of the road after 20kms on day 1 with a broken derailer. Removed some kit and some links and he had a single speed. 108km on a single speed, missed the cutoff and was kicked off. DNF. He rode all the other days and completed but he is a DNF that year. So for 37K you going to carry a spare derailer too, Lucky Luke? Oh yeah, I forget, it's got easier now with service points. Another year my partner bailed after picking up a bug and riding through days 3 and 4, the Doc pulled him off day 5. I finished alone which was not lekker after us 2 training together for 20+ hours a week for 9 months. Of course, we never trained 8 days straight, we are ordinary guys with families and jobs. This year a 4 time Epic finisher bailed day 1. In an ambulance. After a heart attack. No, he was not under prepared, he just had a heart issue that day and nearly died. Luckily he bailed and lived. Very few weekend races can prepare you for or compare to the Epic and if it's not your year to finish then it's not your year.
  17. No, it's not a piece of.....it is a great GPS unit that works really well until you try to use the speed/cadence sensor and forget to either set the wheel size accurately or use auto detect wheel size. Unlike the 305, if the speed sensor detects a magnet on the wheel it "switches on" and overides the GPS. Bizarre but true. Solution is to just leave the magnet off and only use the sensor for cadence.
  18. Why great news? Surely just an advert?
  19. City Cycles are open every day with the exception of the obvious Christmas/New Years, and their hours are normal retail hours, not 2 pm close
  20. I'll build him a Niner with a Lefty, target weight 9.8kg and he can keep some cash in his pocket. At 50,000 South African Rondt he'd be a fool to buy anything off the shelf.
  21. Anyone else suspect self promotion and an undeniable craving for publicity? Not been in the public gaze for a while Prof? Like this wild claim after the RWC 2011 about match fixing and Bryce Lawrence: http://www.sabc.co.za/news/a/58c3cf0048af50e8a04ffc25cd63f3de/IRB-urged--to-conduct-match-fixing-probe-20111014
  22. Seriously?
  23. Must have played Craven week rugby as a pikkie
  24. 4 screws and a CR2354 battery for the 720/725 series. You may have to ask your favourite battery shop to order you the battery. Wynberg and Noordhoek Pharmacy do carry them in stock. Don't get a 2032 unless your are changing the wearlink sensor.
