  2. A good experience is a good experience......... And a bad 1 is just bad. I'm sure It's easy to differentiate between the two. Tankman's got a point though. But I'd be interested to see these ratings....... like at "hellopeter.com". So people can see what experiences are like at LBS', and decide whether they want to "take their business elsewhere", or take their chances. I'd like to say that I've had good experiences at Revolution Cycles/Load and Go And bad ones at Helderbeg Cycle World, although, I have to commend the youngsters at Helderberg Cycle world, they always wiling to assist.
  3. Is it a NiMH battery pack? There are companies that rebuild battery packs at a fraction of the replacement cost, including a guarantee. There is a company down in Cape Town called Melzer Agencies T/A MPower and MPhoto. You should look into that. I've had them do Laptop batteries, Hugh end testers, etc. They do warn you that they need to cut the pack open and that you might notice a seam where the pack has been resealed. I could, however, not notice where the seam was on all the battery packs they did for me. Good luck
  4. I have been trying forever to get it. Unfortunately I have been directed to the sports-tracker online shop all of the time. I heard someone got one from a major Nokia store up in Jozi. But in Cpt, they just refer you to the online store. Pity though. There is a sports-tracker page on facebook, maybe I shoulda tried there. They are always very helpful.
  5. If Price is an Issue, and you have a Nokia GPS enable phone (Coming soon to Android and iPhone) have a look at www.sports-tracker.com If you have a compatible phone, its going to be your best "BANG FOR BUCK" option. There are however "cons" to go with the "Pros", eg. GPS accuracy (a common problem), and the cost of the polar Bluetooth HR monitor belt (69 euro) to get the full HR features. The "pros" outweigh the cons though, like, gpx export (which you can use with other apps, eg Sports Tracks), top speed, average speed, calories, route profile, HR zones, current speed vs Average speed, and route plotting on your cellphone. Its pretty much the simplest, cheapest test you can do. Garmins are not exactly cheap.Try the sports-tracker, and if you don't like it you can always flog your HR monitor Belt (as it's the only thing you need to purchase)......... You'll have guys lining up to purchase it, IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT :-) Regards AK
  6. It only mentions TMNP........ so technically this notice only applies to TMNP.......... That's what I understand, In Plain ENGLISH :-)
  7. Firstly: If it doesen't say it on the website, then where, in the purchase process, do they inform you about it? If there is no notification about this cost, then the "UNLIMITED ACCESS" card is then blatent false advertising. Secondly: Why have I not had any problems entering with my MTB in Grabouw?
  8. I had the same issue. Also Waiting since Jan. I've sent numerous mails. The last 1 never even got a response. All you get is "The first batch of wildcards were sent". But nowhere is there confirmation that yours is in that batch. That sounds like a "STALLING MOVE" to me. I called them after they ignored my last mail, and the said it would arrive in June. I also got the All Parks National card which offered "UNLIMITED ACCESS", and I expect it to be just that, "UNLIMITED". I never added the MTB permit to my card. I never had any issues getting into reserves with my MTB. So I'm a bit confused with this additional MTB permit.
  9. +1 for the specialized Saddles. I have the Indie 143mm, and I'm a big guy. Its even more comfortable than a previous 155mm that I had
  10. Thanks alot for all the comments......... sorry for Hijackin the thread....... lol I think I'll chat to my GP first..... then take it from there. Cheers AK
  11. Ok......... may I throw anothe spanner in the works? I have a somewhat related question :-) So I've also been training with a HR monitor specifically because I do not want to keel over and die by over-exerting myself. I suffer from a little bit of Hypertension, so it is a concern for me.When climbing my HR monitor reads 95% of my max, but I feel like I still have some left in the legs, but I stop because I do not want push my heart too far. So this is my question.......... What are the symptoms to look out for when I am pushing myself too far? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks AK
  12. I am also in the same boat as the OP. I am, however, not too worried about weight loss. That is not my primary objective. I do have 2 questions though. How do you guys feel about pasta dishes the night before. Does that not assist with your energy intake and therefore helping with the longer rides? And what is your feeling Muesli/Oats in the morning, for a more sustained longer energy release? Any comments will be welcome. Thanks in advance AK
  13. My 1st strap lasted only 3 months but polar replaced it. Lets see what happens with the new 1. they recommend a wash every 5 uses, however, I followed the directions to the tee. I'm not sure I'll stick with Polar next time around. It's gonna take lots of convincing
  14. Have you checked the Wildcard Site? They have a comprehensive list of Parks. Why don't you get the "ALL PARKS" National package? It's only R40 more than the Western Cape Package. You might be in another province and could get a few discounts, evn at Kruger National Park. You might find yourself in another province sometime in that Calendar year, and you might be kicking yourself for not getting the full national package. LOL Just be warned that They SUCK at getting your "Wildcard" to you. I paid in January, and have to date not received my "wildcard". their customer service is PATHETIC, with no definitive answer about when I'll receive my Card. All I nget is "The first batch of cards were posted". Thats the only respose I got in March, April, and May. Good Luck :-)
  15. I'm also pretty interested........ DRY or WET? Which lube to use on your drive train. The first two replies recommended a dry lube, and then the third recommended WET.......... So it's obviously not "cut and dried". Also It has been recommended to drop some lube on the top of the Fork seals to prevent any abrasive substances wearing down the seal. What are you feelings about this?
  16. Thanks alot....... Got it to work pretty easy....... AFTER I LOOKED AT IT DIFFERENTLY Now the 2nd worry is, HOW TO SECURE IT. I've heard some guys complaind about their bikes being stolen WITH THE RACK Even with the lock on the Horizontal Hinged Bar I am Currently experimenting with a few things to prevent this.
  17. Thanks Mampara. I actually popped in at the shop to buy the Hanging adapter bar. So they recommended the same thing. Will try later. But It will probably work. Regards AK
  18. Yeah, Load and Go is the store's name. That's where I bought it. They're always very helpful. Thanks
  19. Hi Guys. Just got a Medium GT Zaskar. Then got a express 970. I can't seem to get it to fit I see there is a "Bike frame Adaptor" that you attatch to the seatpost and Stem. The Bike hangs on it. I was ust thinking if they're readily available, and how secure they are. Are there any alternatives..... LIKE THOSE OLD GORILLA STEERING LOCKS. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
  20. just recently got this 2 x 10
  21. I used it before. It does seem to give better readings. Turns out my HRM was faulty anyway. Waiting to give it another try......... As soon as my Unit gets back.
