  1. Mybe you should get into politics............. I'd vote for you You seem to be approaching this from a good angle. I too does bother me (as well as some other Moderators) at the amount of racially based comments that are left on here......... there is always mention made about the Black guys riding on the wrong side of the road........ never the white guys (which I've seen btw...... often), or the garderner that cant afford the bike he's riding. I too ride a mid range Hard Tail, and I am not White......... so can I expect to be pulled over for irritating a passer by, because I dont seem to be able to afford my Bike? I too am very concerned about being Bike Jacked......... And I understand why Bicycle thiefs need to be approached......... and BEATEN TO A PULP (preferably)......... especially if they hurt the people they are mugging........ In fact.... Don't even call the police. But 1 question for the OP? The Million Dollar Question............ HOW MANY WHITE GUYS DID YOU EVER THINK OF PULLING OVER? DO THEY IRRITATE YOU WHEN THEY RIDE NICE BIKES?
  2. I feel there's 1 more PRO/CON that you must consider, and that is SECURITY. I've owned Thule and Holdfast (Currently Thule Express). I must say I miss the Securtity of the Holdfast (Option 1). There are 3 lockable pins on the Holdfast. 1) Locking the Base Plate to the Upright Bars 2) Locking the Upright Bars to the The Hanger Bars (That the bikes Secure to) 3) Locking Rod Securing the Top Tubes to the Hanger Bars The only vulnerability here is Securing the base plate to the towbar...... Can be done with a "Macguyver" The Thule 2 Bike 970 Express is seriously lacking in this are. I managed to secure it to the Towbar By means of a Yale Long Shackle Lock. But there's not much else you can do. So the Holdfast , for me, is a bit more secure.
  3. Eldron....... Have you ever tried SportTracks 3? With a wholre bunch of plugins that constantly get developed, EVEN ON REQUEST. I promoise....... YOU'LL NEVER GO BACK
  4. When you say "Software" do you mean "Management Software", like Polar Personal Trainer, or do you mean the actual software on the Watch/Computer, ie. HR calculation, Calorie calculation, and other formulas used for presenting the RAW Collected Data from all Sensors?
  5. I have to agree 1000% with Tankman. If race organizers can just share a gpx file about the planned route, that would be pretty awesome. Just gives so much more info, except just a simple, LOW RES picture of the profile.
  6. UPDATE: No import duty on Sunglasses only 14% VAT Albeit that I'd rather pay South African VAT at 14%......... than EU Vat at 23% Also just checked..... never paid any duty (only VAT) on my Polar Bluetooth HR Monitor Belt from the Sports-Tracker online Store  Apologies Edman
  7. I really liked that saddle too. But had a slight tumble one day, and the whole thing came off the rails.......... Gave up 2 months later trying to get it back on the rails........ lol
  8. Will check. Gotta dig up the paperwork........... I think I know where it is
  9. I just paid duty on sunglasses from CRC
  10. try http://www.obike.co.za/Products/ProductsList.aspx only Bell and Giro though, full spec list +1 on the Specialized stuff....... they are good
  11. Do magazines weigh 300g, or around there? If so, then true. If you walk into any LBS the weights are printed on the inside...... Just like the sizes......... And I think it's better to try 1 on for size, rather than just buying it online, and not know what you getting. Pick it up, feel it, put in on your head......... AND CHECK THE WEIGHT ON THE INSIDE LABEL. If you're looking for a helmet under R1000....... then the "Bell" helmets are lighter. Good luck.
  12. Sports Tracker is now available for i-Phone. Check with tech support at www.sports-tracker.com whether the polar bluetooth HR belt is compatible with the i-Phone. They are pretty helpfull, and efficient. I gort my polar HR belt from finland in less than 10 days with a 23% discount(EU vat). If you do the social networking thing........ try http://www.facebook.com/sportstracking Good luck
  13. Try www.dealextreme.com They have a huge selection of little pouches and cases. I received mine in about 10 days
  14. Bottle cage mount on the handlebar/stem....... I screw a semi hard silicone cellphone cover to the bottle cage mount. Its pretty stable, and kinda waterproof/splashproof i've experimented with a few mounting scenarios......... this one is the best thus far. For further waterproofing for rainy/muddy conditions, a full skin transparent phone cover can be used (a phone condom..... if you like) Bottle cage mount = R60-R70 Phone cover = R25
  15. +1  Ordered a bluetooth Polar HRM from Sports Tracker. Got it in less than n10 days from Finland. Turned my Cheapy cellphone into a full on Computer. You can also export the activity as a .gpx file and analyze with SportsTracks. Its really pretty good.
  16. +1.......... Body Geometry Indie 143mm. Quite reasonably priced at R450. And its only about 60-80g heavier than the Gobi, being that its Chrome Molly
  17. Rondebosch Police Station had a team dedicated to mountain Duty. Maybe contact should be made with them. They have some good guys working that unit. And 1hour is just not good enough. It's quite possible that during winter the mountain is not really that busy, so they may have deployed the resources elsewhere.
  18. Thanks.......lol.It does actually make sense
  19. HI guys........ for give me for asking what may be a stupid qhestion. I was cleaning my bike yesterday and noticed what looked like half-broken teeth on both my SRAM x7 chainrings. So I go chainring hunting online. But all the SRAM/Truvativ chainrings I see have the same (what looks like) half broken teeth. So I realize that there are a few square shaped teeth on the chainrings "by design". Does anybody know why, and what the benifit is? Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks AK
  20. Check that your front and rear deraillieur are aligned, and the Hi and Low screws are set prperly. I had a similar issue on the rear and it was a bent derailliuer bracket. Found videos on you tube that helped me sort it out in about 30sec. Good luck
  21. That address is failing. Mail being returned
  22. Agreed....... However. These are not full on ratings. These are just noted BAD/Good experiences. and I feel it can help. Just as a reference point for hubbers. It can help find your favourite LBS. It may even help LBS service levels in the long run, or assist someone when they're not anywhere near their LBS, and time is of the essence, they could find a shop with a few good reviews when they're not in their "hometown". Just my 2c
