  1. Any upholsterer woth his salt could do this. Try Auto Trimmers. They do this kind of customization on Motorcycle bits....... Harley's, etc. Maybe they can even do it with some offcuts....... Providing they have that colour
  2. Ho About getting a comfy saddle. One that you know works for you.......... And have it covered in whatever colour you want.
  3. revolution cycles........ 021 423 5191 or 021 424 5823 Ask for Sterling Junior
  4. Revolution Cycles in the CBD have ZTR 650b's
  5. You mentioned the Merida 99 and 96....... Have you considered the 120? New frame design. Nice curve on the top tube. Full XT except for the Brakes........ Which you can upgrade. AND THEY'RE ON SPECIAL RIGHT NOW. Going for about 16k http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_za/bike/2012/1/MTB+Full+Suspension/One-Twenty+XT-D
  6. R50 is nothing. You should be lucky they never charged you the minimum 1hr Incidently....... What was done for R50?
  7. Cycle Lab Winelands is nothing to write home about. They are not open long though, so give them a chance. I'd much rather go next door to Cycle World........ Dn't like the Manager........ But Eugene is a star..... Always helpful. I had a similar experience as the OP on my 1st visit to the new CWC. The guy walked past me 3 times in the 10min i spent waiting for assistance. Offering to help other BROWSERS. Until the 4th time he tried to walk past me, I put my hands up, and then received some assistance. Maybe I don't look like I'm buying.......
  8. I can Answer Yes to all of the above. I have had my battery last for more than a few hours....... up to 7hr. It doesn't display temp and Cadence, however, all other USEFULL info is available, including averages. HR is availbale with any compatible HRM. Handlebar mounting solutions are availble, but I find that a good robust BodyGlove case works well (with a bit of tuning). The obvious disadvantage is weight, but that is neglegable, as well as cost of replacing an expensive handset, but your handset does not need to be expensive. I have been using a phone for 18 months with no issues That being said........ I'll probably be getting the Ryder 35 soon
  9. I am running XT's on my new bike......... and they are really good :-), however, the Avid Elixers i run on my other bike are just as good, After I fit the XO pads............ they really are worth the extra R100 So I'm running both and I think they're both good.... To each his own I guess
  10. Pump it repeatedly like you would your Car brake pedal
  11. Anywhere in The Cape Town CBD. Jack Lemkus are selling old Stock for R30-40 bucks, and another store in Long Street R25..... they are polyester I think........ Not Proper Athletic Arm Warmers.
  12. True. But why do that if there's an App that can do it for you.
  13. But would you not prefer an ascent to be above a certain gradient threshold? Just a thought, because if you have a rise of 2m, and you do this about 50 times during your ride, your total ascent would be 100m, which would be inaccurate, because the ride would essentially be flat, RIGHT?
  14. The answer is simple. Different software sees Gradient Differently. Here goes a short explaination. The 1 application will see anything above 4% gradient as an "Ascent", and hence, anything below 4% as "FLAT", and the same would apply to descent (above -4%), and anything below as "FLAT" (0-> -4%). The second application might see that gradient threshold at 2%, hence the Different Total Ascent The Third application might read any increase in Altitude (as per GPS) as an Ascent, and Vice Versa for the Descent I hope this explaination is kinda Clear. But thats how I fugured it. In fact some apps actually tell you what their gradient threshold is for Ascent/Descent. Try SportsTracks3 it's compatible with the Garmin Devices, and it's free. Good Luck
  15. LOL.......... It is a concern yes. These guys are getting creative...... Really creative
  16. If they have your paypal email address, they can possibly redirect a "FALSE" password reset, and then Hack your Paypal........... then using your account to pay themselves........ DON'T DO IT
  17. Running 2bliss Fast Trak LK too........ and I'm impressed up to now. They weigh just over 500g......... Grip is good too. Prob not for extreme rides, but still good.
  18. lol.......... DEAL But I don't see myself in Jozi too soon....... I love Cape Town too much
  19. I've been watching the trailseeker series on Supersport, and frankly, those routes in Jozi have nothing on ours in Cpt...... btw....... We also neglected to mention the security, ablutions, picnic area for the family, as well as the wine tasting and sales office (top class wines I might add)...... and At R350 there are very few annual permits that will compare to Oak Valley, as far as value for money, or quality of the ride...... just my opinion
  20. I believe you can...... Its somewhere around R500-R600. And it includes Night rides if you want...... But tackling those technical bits in the dark is another story....... and don't forget about the Bovine threat...... lol
  21. Oak Valley is well manacured and marked....... And is probably 1 of the best rides in the country
  22. They are heavy, and not very strong.......... gret rid of them as soon as you can
  23. Yep....... thats what mu buddy does........ But some of theses F$#@kErs have tools that can cut/dismantle the locks........ Those street cuffs, and Shackle style locks are pretty solid. I have this UK MTB Magazine (pdf...... If you want i can mail it) where they do a securty/lock comparison..... It seems as if theft is a serious problem there too........lol Go Figure
  24. I understand that cycling, and more Specifically Mountainbiking is a very popular sport/passtime, and therefore the business of supplying Cyclists/Mountainbikers (equipment and Routes/Trails/Venues) can be a lucrative business. I have no gripe with this......... But R1600 for an annual permit at the Toyota MTN Bikepark just sounds ridiculous. I do, however, not know all of the services offered by the park....... but come on........ R1600? Is this in any way acceptable? This, in addition to the sometimes costly events (Day licenses and all the rest)Give us a break already
