  1. I am in. Entered last week. For me its all about the bike. You have to respect the bike. You can be a brilliant runner, but if you have not prepared well for those hills on the bike, you will not have the legs to run a decent time.
  2. The way my winter training is going, there is a big chance that I will experience this at the 5150
  3. Greeting means loosing 0.326 seconds on my overall time and a nod of the head/lifting of hand increases drag resistance.
  4. - You should at all times have at least 3 electronic gadgets on your person during training/races - ALWAYS look fresh after a 100k bike ride at threshold pace with cyclists or on a long run with runners. One sport is nothing
  5. Over the weekend a fellow triathlete and I started joking about some of the "unwritten" rules of triathlon. So, I will go first: - Never use the ladder in the swimming pool to get out - Always do a brick run after a bunch ride with roadies, because you (think you) can and be polite and invite them - Compression socks is a must, because it.......well its a must - Always wear your IM finishers T-Shirt to MTB/Road/Running events registration
  6. I have entered the 5150 at Bela Bela in August to motivate me to get out of my winter slump. Any suggestions for decent (in terms of price and facilities) accommodation for that weekend?
  7. Not BS, my friend. They are very, very sexy. The supercars of cycling. I found myself just sitting and watching the guys checking in their bikes at 70.3 and drooling over some of those machines.
  8. I think everyone starting of in triathlon has this decision to make. What worked for me, was to first use my road bike with clip on's, as it was much more versatile and it gave me time to see if the triathlon thing was for me (and time to save for a possible TT bike). I did two 70.3's on it, a few shorties and also some road races. I decided that triathlon was for me and am now moving on to IM distance. I bought a TT bike only a few days ago. The TT bike also limits you to only training on your own and not with groups. And by the way, welcome to Tri. Its addictive.
  9. Jip dit is. Ek het dit darem agter gekom voor ek hom vir n toetsrit gevat het.
  10. Nee, dis vir drinkgoed, maar ek moet nog uitvind hoe presies dit werk.
  11. Not a problem...
  12. I got a Felt DA4 TT bike over the weekend and I am busy setting everything up. How do you guys carry all the tools, spare tubes, bombs, energy bars, energy drinks etc etc on your bike? I have a small Tri bag that sits on the top tube, but it is not big enough for a 70.3 or IM event.
  13. His run is probably in the top 3-4. I think I saw he ran a 28 min 10k in a previous ITU event. He just needs to get his swim on par.
  14. Sub 5 is seriously fast. I think there were only 50 odd guys going sub 5 at this year's 70.3, so you might struggle getting a partner that can keep up.
  15. I think it is available on most systems. I have it on my tablet, smartphone (both Andorid) as well as my laptop. You use the same account for all, but obviously you have to download the magazines on each platform.
  16. So funny that, I almost let slip a urine sample of my own!
  17. Well done for owning up. Huge respect for that. Having said that. Knowingly taking any illegal substance is wrong and should be punished, no matter where you finish and you should get the appropriate punishment. Good luck with whats to come and glad to hear you are off the stuff.
  18. Race week! Training done and I am feeling better from my cold I picked up somewhere and now just excited to have fun on Sunday. I am not expecting any fire works this year, but would be happy with: Swim 42 min T1 7 min Bike 3:20 T2 5 Run 2:06 Total: 6:20 To be honest I will be happy just finishing in under 7 hours.
  19. Thanks Spartan Got some meds from the pharmacy and drinking lots of OJ. Will also try some of these. I think I am going to head home now for some rest(and cricket). Not feeling better than yesterday, but also not worse.
  20. So this morning I wake up with an itchy nose and throat. Not good news 10 days before race day. Any advice on how to make sure this does not turn into a cold/flu?
  21. Wow, did you guys see some of the comments at the bottom of this article. Makes some of the "disagreements" on the hub seem like a Kinder garden play.
  22. Has anyone else had problems with their device connecting to the ANT usb stick. I have to pair the device and stick everytime before I upload workouts. I have never had any problems and suddenly for the last 2-3 weeks this problem. Same thing happend to my wife's, at about the same time as mine.
  23. I wait the whole season for a triathlon closer to home, and now they go and schedule it during 70.3 weekend. Ai, not great planning
  24. I am in the same boat. I am also considering entering IM PE, but I am worried about the extra training needed. I just do not know if I can increase my training by much more, between family time and running my own business and my wife training for the Comrades. Like I said earlier, I am happy with the training for the 70.3 given the time I had available (by no means am I on the same level as 2012). I am also thinking that my available time is probably not going to increase in years to come, so why not give IM a go. But I also do not want to enter being under prepared.
  25. Two weeks to go. How are you guys feeling and how was the training over the festive season? I did my last long run and cycle over the weekend and have started the tapering period from today, with my focus on swimming. I am feeling ok and more or less where I hoped to be by this time.
