  1. hey BEN- you doing XCO or Tougee then? PS> I didn't mean to say people should only do it when they tough/fit? What I meant was DO IT - but just choose wisely between the XCO and Toughee!!!!!
  2. We will certainly be there!!! As a family we ride the 20km XCO lap at least 2 or 3 times a month, it's really awesome and yes, there a a couple of climbs, you just have to put your head down and pedal, you eventually get to the top of the climb... The "toughee" part is just that... if im not wrong, the most part of it was to be Wendell's "DH" track... and for some time it was even referred to as such... However, it's was expanded and now it's part of wendell's way... It's very technical, in the sense that the uphills are SUPER steep, rocky, loose and some tight turns and switchback... the downhill sections are really awesome, some serious drops and cutting over rock sections... but totally do-able. To be honest I dont know how much of it will be ride-able for your first time, as the course certainly needs a bit of getting used to... But if you consider yourself TOUGH, and consider yourself to have TECH-Skills... then DO IT!!! (PS> I ride the entire course, except for the total last piece of uphill right at the top where you go along right next to the fence... just cant drag myself up there yet, but I figure I will be able to do it once fitness gets better)!!!
  3. Fortuner = the new "X5" gang
  4. you can trace a reg number plate using rice paper and some chalk.... doing it while slipstreaming in traffic is a bit hard, but not totally impossible.
  5. Proof, some picchas of the she and the cracked frame
  6. Snap...crackle...pop! The stress intensity factor is estimated for a circular crack associated with a spherical particle subjected to thermoelastic stress field. It is shown that the stress intensity factor is a function of particle size, elastic and fracture properties of the two phases and preexisting crack length. Spontaneous matrix cracking will occur when the particle size exceeds critical value Dc. Close agreement between calculated and measured value for Dc is obtained. The model is applicable to all particulate composites where there is volume increase of a particle induced either by phase transformation or thermal expansion mismatch (αm >αp). The results of the present analysis fit very well the observations made on spontaneouscracking of a single phase materials possessing thermal expansion anisotropy or two phase materials possessing thermal expansion mismatch.
  7. Comrade Mayhem, having revelations....
  8. Lol, whatever "floats" your boat, I like them forks foxy.... you however dont seem to mind the old coilsprung every now and then? Hahahha
  9. Listen to Crow, Reba would be best value for money, best suited to your bike and frame. Fox would be killer, but alot more expensive, unless you can find a 2nd hand float in good nick and price.
  10. For Forks sake, get a new Forks first.
  11. Search for Jerry cards in google, been using him for 5years, buy cards atleast once a week for apple TV. Canned my DSTV a couple of months ago.
  12. You need an XL, in every respected brand/model range, you will need an XL.
  13. Just looked at the geo for your bike - it seems to have a 605mm top tube... so it should actually fit you fine... especially since you mention the pain being in your shoulders and arms, as opposed to back/neck/knee issues. Therefore, I think it might just be a case of adjustment, stem length, and what i really think might affect you is the bars @ 685/15mm rise the standard bars could be your real issue... maybe being a lady you need slightly narrower and maybe more/less rise/sweep in your bars.
  14. s0rry Mads....in your case specifically, the extra 1-2cm you can gain by a stem won't help much, and most probably just make it worse because even if it's more comfortable or a better "fit", it will just end up ruining your bike's handling and effect your descent/technical sections. And if you take all of that into consideration then ride quality and better technical/rolling capability is what you got the 29er for in the first place? What bike do you have?
  15. You have very little to gain by buying a frame because it's a "great" deal but ends up too small for you... Just don't do it, please!
  16. You need a Large... and then you can play with the stem/bars/post to get your position/fit dialed in. In more detailed you need a 19"-19.5" size, with a 600mm to 610mm top tube.
  17. I am really sorry to hear that Mads... However, this happens every day, in way too many LBS..
  18. Just listen to Mayhem dude's..... I've for the first time invested in a set of XX brakes... why you may ask? ... because they are SUPER sexy looking, and they play so nice with shifters and reverb controls when you use the Matchmaker clamps.... Yes.. i LOVE XT/XTR brakes and Ice-Tech rotors are amazing... but I wanted to try the full XX experience... 1. They are super "shyte" to bleed... you have to bleed, first 3/4 syringe from caliper up to lever, then you have to suck air out of caliper, then you have to suck air out of lever, and then you have to do it all over again knocking hoses, taping, praying, wishing, repeating, etc etc. etc... Dot fluid is also crap compared to mineral oil... however, once you get them right, they WORK. 2. The avid rotors are crap, I had the most expensive floating XX rotors and they were bent out of the box, and so soft that even with hours of play I could only get one rotor straight, the back rotor was just replaced with a cheapie avid normal rotor and it now seems fine... Now, the brakes brake... they really do... I'm still toying with the idea to stick some Ice-Tech rotors on, - any comments on that? reasons why not?
  19. No, it's not OK! Correct frame size is non-negotiable for many different reasons. A too small frame used for XCO riding will f-up your neck, back, knee's, etc... really, dont even think about it...
  20. Wow, looks great... good luck, store looking good!
  21. Pictures, show us picha's of the shop!!!!! Also, you should get models wearing cycling kit to man the shop.....
  22. While reading this thread, I p,p'd myself when I noticed a vodacom banner ad for datapackages running at the bottom of the page...
  23. and we had a very nice winter afternoon ride @ the spruit... and by the way awesme nails it on the downhills I would never say that his brakeset upgrade was even optional nor will it be wasted. I'm now convinced, more than ever, that the XT/2012 brakes are way better than my Avid XX's....
  24. LOL - my largest order ended up being 46kg's.... some tools, some wheels, and lots of components for my Yeti... you should have seen the face of the delivery guy...
