  1. I'd be keen to donate money. Just went to the link. There are a few things that need to answered though, as right now, it's looking like a bit of a free marketing shill as well. Now I'm more than fine to donate money to this fine cause, but I'd need the following: 1] the objectives of this fund, clearly outlined. 2] A viewable audit, showing what will be spent and where. 3] The credentials of the PI involved. 4] I'd like an opt-out for any marketing/spam due to giving away my personal details.
  2. Because you were at Cresta?
  3. Cool idea. There's no decent footage on Youtube. Only one of the lamest vids I've seen in years. I've got a decent camera and a bunch of lenses. Would love to film some of the runs some time. I can rope in a buddy too so we could have 2 great cameras and make something worthwhile. What do you have in mind? edit: oh and we've got some GoPro cams as well. Wld be cool to shoot from 2 perspectives, with a third from the helmet and intercut.
  4. judging by your avatar, you tried it?!
  5. It's all about priorities I guess. You could always drive out at 5:30am, hit the trails by 6:15, by 8am leave for work. I live about 30 mins from Tokai, so I usually schedule work and meetings around 2 hour sessions there, and work late to make up the diffs. I love having the park to myself. Less chance of anyone seeing me cry
  6. Haaa, maniac! Classic. Wld have been funny to see that. Phase 2 sounds cool. Is that off to the right again just before the bottom of this new trail?
  7. Yeah that's clearly so. Whoever lifted all of those rocks needs a few beers I'm sad I wasn't able to contribute, my time has been strange with work etc. I will keep the next slot open in my diary though. Well done!
  8. Just got back from a very wet & wild session up there. AWESOME AWESOME trail lads. I'm really glad I didn't gun it right away, and chose to roll it to see what it's about. Lots of great bits. I really like the fact that some sections don't have chicken runs. Makes commitment a big part of the route. Beautifully built as well. The berms are crazy good, and those sharp lip rock booters are great. I only got a couple of runs in before the heavens opened up and I had to retreat. I ended up taking a pretty massive wipe out on a trail above boulders. Stoked to see such great trail work, inspiring. 10/10
  9. I love that little fat one. I make a point to do it now and then.
  10. Killer idea. Throw some big booters and that little gap jump. Perfect end to the day.
  11. Cool, I'm game for this. The berm is the most dangerous spot by far. Finally we're getting somewhere.
  12. hahahahahaha! brilliant. And totally legal. Semantic, go to love it. At least he didnt send you a microscope.
  13. Glad to hear new signs are being made. Any idea when they'll be put up?
  14. My worst are the quads or 'kwats' as they call them. Blood boiling man. I also ride XC, trail/AM and have started DJ. I have several bikes. LOVE riding too much for words. It pains me to think that someone would be so obtuse and inconsiderate and spoil the fun for everyone by disregarding the basic code of conduct at the bike park. It's only to make it safer for everyone.
  15. He's a troll. Forget his BS man. Looking at his average speeds there you can see he's a bit of a slow rider too. Maybe if he wasn't trying to pss people off and came and helped, he'd pick up some pointers on how to ride faster. Anyways, his agenda here is clear. I'm on the lookout for a Scalpel now. Sorry in advance David. David, WE must relax, when you add nothing to the problem, but stir. Put your money where your mouth is. Since you are such a hot shot rider, come ride some DH some time. If you need to use a decent bike, my offer stands. Great comment man. It's exactly about being considerate. Seems a lot of selfish people are around these days. Anyways, David is slow, so he'd not be much help on build days. I doubt he's very strong, although there's always a need for a 'lemonade girl'. It's time indeed.
  16. It's best to ignore David. He is a troll. I'll bet he doesn't even ride much. Probably has a boring office job and this is how he gets his rocks off. David, care to come to a trailbuilding session some time? Meet all of the DH riders you clearly hate so much?
  17. This is the point, they WERE built by downhill riders as downhills for EVERYONE to enjoy. They were designed to be ridden one way. This roadie wouldn't have the balls to try, which is why he feels all 'crowded' when he's speeding down the jeep track! hahahaa. Roadie, come ride some DH with us, show us how to do those jumps. You can use my bike if you like.
  18. Omega, seriously, lets not waste energy and get riled up by this roadie. Maybe his bum cream went sour. Who knows?
  19. See ya! Sigh. It's so tiring having to explain this ALL the time. There are k's of singletrack all over Tokai. There are 600 meters of DH. The downhill is for everyone! You too. It's just safer to have it unidirectional. Get it now? You have some issues dude. Seriously? Over the whole road hey! hahahaa. These are the faceplanters I see all the time. You ride down the jeeptrack hey?!! hahaa. Maybe you should be less obnoxious and watch and learn a bit how to ride technical descents. So, roadie, you selfishly want to have ALL the trails to ride up then? We know that XC has hills. Why do you NEED to HAVE TO HAVE the DH lines too? What about those who want to ride the downhill safely without you and your bum cream warrior friends stuffing up the berms, the lips of the booters and being in dangerous places? WHY?? Some people are seriously obtuse.

    Your DH Machine

HOLY S%$####%T that is an AWESOME bike!
  21. I'm keeping an eye out for an '09 Giant Anthem X, SID Race 09 Fork, Cervino Tubeless wheels with a rider carrying a heeeeuge chip on his shoulder. I hope to spot David going down the DH though. Keep an eye out boys. The more I think about it, the more I'm loving this idea of cycle shops sponsoring the signs. Thoughts?
  22. I'm with you on that one. Ignorance is bliss. I can't stand these school prefect types who feel the need to police things. You did the right thing and I hope you told him to ****OFF and mind his own business. It's why Tokai needs proper signs. I saw some people riding up the DH the other day, but I'm not going to run after them and scold them for it. How are they supposed to know? Signs. Hi Larry, if people are coming down a single track (i.e not a dedicated, DH specific trail) then you actually have the right of way coming up the hill, and the riding coming down is expected to slow down and make way for you. These are accepted norms Worldwide. If however, you are riding up a dedicated downhill, then you actually are not meant to be there at all. For the sake of safety, these routes are strictly one way. Everyone is welcome to ride these lines, and most downhill riders will be more than happy to see anyone going for it. Its whatever gets your stoke on, and seeing people having fun is the main aim of the sport. Riding UP a DH is a big no no. Hopefully soon, with enough screaming, crying, letters and probably eventually doing it ourselves, we'll have some proper signs at the exits to the downhills that will clearly state them as being unidirectional and no entry. But seriously Larry, everyone is a downhill rider, and it's not about the bike, or the gear. It's about going as fast as you can, in the best style while having heaps of fun. Slamming head-on into a kid while railing a berm is not any rider's idea of fun, hence the million threads about it. sigh
  23. A lot of riders don't know that a dedicated downhill is unidirectional though. Most riders don't hang out on The Hub either. Without proper, clear signage at the end of the DH runs this is a losing battle, and one that will end tragically. If we do get signs in place, the next issue is one of enforcement. There is no way a rider can be banned from the park for selfishly disregarding the code of conduct. I'm all for getting this happening, and it was why I posted about this issue many weeks ago. I'm unaware if anything is in the pipeline to be done. I suppose we will have to wait for the inevitable.
  24. I don't know who he thinks he is. Why didn't you go and ask him? Tell him how the trails are for all. David, I feel sorry for you. I really do. Pain or Shine, signs? ETA on them please.
  25. You know, it's tiring reading lies. Please refer to your statement: "I didnt tell the guy to hurry up, get off the trail, etc because there could be a superior DH rider coming soon to ride over us!". Only you feel inferior. There is not one DH rider who has ever said they are better than anyone else. Get this chip off your shoulder dude, it's uncalled for and it's becoming boring. I agree with your post here, without signs there will need to be some other form of safety system in place. I'm sticking with signage though. Most people will obey the signs when (IF) they are put up. I will start writing letters to CNC about this issue. It needs to be sorted out. By the way, EVERYONE is allowed to ride the downhill lines. Hardtails, junk bikes, bmx, SS, 29ers, MUni...and I've seen just about everyone having a go. The DH runs are not 'reserved' for those who wear full face helmets. These are just the guys who try their best to go as fast as possible on these trails by learning every possibility and pushing their own limits. David, I know you're on here to stir, your signature says this, but please, try not to derail a really important issue with your own insecurities.
