  1. Let's be honest about all this. In the beginning, after the six days of creation, and the day of rest, God created Rugby. It's sport in it's purest form. All these lovely other things we do like cycling, running, triathlons, piano playing etc are marvelous. But they ain't rugby. So get thee to the tv on Sunday am with your bok jersey. Or Else.
  2. Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey. PVRing rugby is not allowed under any circumstances. Can lose your supporters licence for a comment like that
  3. My son ,13, told me he needs a new bike. I told him in jest he could have his mom's. He put his saddle on the thing and rode around the driveway. She arrived home while he was riding it, so he reckons dad said I could have your bike, cos I can ride it faster than you... So I get storys. Chicks.
  4. Nearly broke my iPad screen trying to catch your goggo.
  5. Sorry GOG. Sounds like you might need the couch and a beer. Beer good for knees.
  6. People who don't colour code should be tazered. Cyclists or otherwise. And wearing blue and brown together is not colour coded. Ever. I am the fashion police.
  7. Look dodgy in a speedo,( for swim training in the gym) , with top deck looking legs, white tops and brown tanned bottoms, plus dodgy shaving lines when having difficulty knowing how far up to stop.
  8. 15 hrs a week with job, wife , kids and beer drinking mates is very very difficult. And tiring. I think it's all about what you want to get out of it. If you want to finish as fast and strong as you possibly can, or are racing for a specific position (like winning) , then it's what you got to do. However there are lots of ous who ride stage races on much less training than that. They might take a bit longer per day or hurt a bit more, but their 16 weeks before has a bit more balance to it.
  9. Nothing common, law or otherwise, about her. World-class in fact.
  10. Correct. It's a term of endearment.
  11. Crazy that. You replace the bits, but grumpily. Still costs you and still got irritated customer who probably wont come back. Why not , Hell, I'm so sorry, let's replace for free with pleasure and a smile, then the dude tells 10 mates how he got sorted.
  12. I also got wide feet. Prefer the fit of specialized shoes. Had a pair of basic mtb sport for years and very comfy. Just upgraded to their comp version, with side buckle and 2 straps. Hurt my feet for first few rides but settled in now and all good. I won't look past spez shoes for me.
  13. In an event recently, down a rocky technical section, with max only room for 1 rider on the track, some dude who started in about z batch of the short distance, tried to squeeze past my current wife and her mate. They had to pull off to the side, get off and let him through. Few metres later our hero went tip and rolling over the bars, and they rode past him sprawling. Sometimes MTB levels the playing field itself.
  14. Eish brother, I feel your pain , literally. I've had it bilaterally from running, that pain when it bites is something else. Going from full speed to lying down like you've been shot in the knee in 1 metre. Don't know your training and racing schedule but I do know it takes a loooong time, with lots of rest and then slow build up. Doesn't affect my bike riding though. Good luck
  15. Is a good idea. I've got a head start. Got 2 massive avo trees that are excellent producers, but I'm a *** farmer. Between the monkeys (airborne) and labradors (landborne), I have to still buy mine from Spar. Maybe need a scarecrow. Got healthy dogs though.
  16. Is this not just a cyclical phenomenon. Such as circa 04 and 07. I remember the days of 12 to dollar and more. Doesn't it all just correct itself to true values at some point?
  17. Just dump mine in the wash as normal. They seem fine. Too much admin to wash by hand
  18. Well done for hanging in bru. Don't think there were many guys riding down those switchbacks without cramp and pain. I cramped in both legs on the sinlge track section after those switchbacks, couldn't move at all. Hurts like hell but part of a race like that. Def no kiddies picnic. Can wear your blue shirt now
  19. Hey boys, how hard was that thing. New track coming down into PMB was lekker, just made it longer though. There were boys taking punishment all over the course near the end, and the dreaded cramp monster was biting everyone, me included. Good day out but proper hard. Be interesting to see how many ous didn't make it.
  20. Paul, ditch the jacket bru, arm warmers maybe, last year was quite nippy at the start but this time looks warm enough to go without. Might need the arm warmers to stop sunburn though. I'm not taking mine.
  21. Thick cut still warm fresh white bread, with peanut butter and syrup running out the sides of the sarmie. Shweet.
  22. Tuna, why do you want your resting HR to drop below 40? Got to get O2 round your body somehow.

    ...

I been running a bit over the past 3 months, as mtb crosstraining. My riding partner is a SA triathlete and I see how much his running does for riding. I havent the same genetics but have been trying to run 2 to 3 times a week 6 to 8 south african kilometers a time. Run in my 4 yr old running shoes. Now developed calf and achilies pain bilaterally, and my shins hurt when I ride, which is a first for me. Maybe the five fingers are worth a shot????
  24. That's ridiculous. That thing going to bite you properly. Thank goodness we can still surf and swim here in Durbs. That's about 20 m off the beach
