  1. Why on earth didn't they play the second test here at Kingsmead. Raining properly here
  2. Big time legend. Well done brother.
  3. Not even a debate. Your control and pedal efficiency worlds apart with cleats. Most nb piece of clothing after lid for me.
  4. Hey Devlin Cool info bru. No doubt it's tough to build a route and I reckon you guys did well. I thought the climb up from Mango was cool and well built. Some of the track back down to the river was slippery but that's from the rain. The bog bubbler was dodge but again no-ones fault. As you say there really is nowhere to go but up unless you cross at Mango, as we found out seconding Dusi this year on MTBs and had to double back then climb out of Res Hills. One thing that would be nice would be a set of planks or palletts over Island rapid. Easy to tip and roll while carrying your bike across there, could have a nasty fall down into the river section. Shot for your honest feedback
  5. I've always enjoyed spinning , enjoy the music and can go when it's dark, and chat to all the regulars that go to the same class. My VA still has the old bikes, last time I checked, but even with that started to get sore knees and ankles. I just find the setup too different to my regular bike, plus my riding mates seem to get faster than I do by road training over the same time put in. So stopped spinning, now swim for extra cardio and ride my mtb around the neighborhood early bells during the week. Lonely but good.
  6. Two words for you brother. Kar Kloof. Or Giba Gorge.
  7. The section around the dam was good. Nice to ride there, esp if you know the river from paddling. I was amazed how low the river was though. Woudnt have been difficult to put a little bridge over Island rapid though, carrying your bike over there was dodge. Then all good until the urban slum, the bubbling bog pipe was a beauty. Pity. Certainly a tough ride though once you crossed the new freeway bridge.
  8. Invite Ricky Michael and Mitch around for a braai. They got nothing to do.
  9. Right boys. Hands up everyone feeling sorry for the Aussies. ?
  10. Circus.
  11. 15/5.
  12. I've got a Giro Atmos and it's cracker. Light, comfy and cool. Just get the right size. I've got large and fits well.

  14. Road bike or mtb?
  15. I ride a fuel EX8 and not sure how that differs from the superfly in geometry. I know 26 v 29 is different geo but I mean how you feel sitting on the thing. Although I did change the factory setup plenty when I got it. Layback seat post, different stem etc, so can't really compare. I just love the way it handles though, up ,down and sideways.
  16. I have always ridden Treks. Just love the geometry. Anthems are lovely bikes, but when I sit on my mate's Anthem X, justt feels too upright for me. So I would stick to the superfly.
  17. Biltong flavor cheddars. Take two packets in your pocket. When you can't stomach any more sweet stuff, they are the business.
  18. Of all the juices I've tried, find 32gi the best for me. I also have some red ambulance at water tables when I feel I need it and never caused me to blow. Agree with other posts, doesn't matter what type of fuel you using, when your intake is less than the reserves you use, going to hit the wall. It sucks when it happens. Always keep an emergency gu or gel to suck on if you need it.
  19. Polar service is cracker, and they will sort it if you post it to counter . I've done it a few times and always good. Battery though is easy to do yourself. Takes 20 sec.
  20. If riding or training is a chore, then it's not worth it. If you training for a specific event or race, get a partner, ESP one quicker than you. That helps to focus your mind. If you just training for training sakes, find a group or session that you enjoy or one that doesn't take time away from something else you enjoy. Cycling or training is not our job. Unless you a pro, and then if you haven't been training you gonna get fired
  21. That letter was written in 2008/9. Since then the entire beachfront area been overhauled, in line with world cup upgrades. Paved clean area stretches all the way from Moses Mabhida to Ushaka and it's really world class. Any day of the week, you'll find runners walkers bikers pram pushers rollerbladers skateboarders surfskaters cruising up and down, then stopping for a coffee. Granted not on new years day or boxing day, but any other day. Something special about riding loops along the beachfornt or running as the sun comes up over the sea. Next time you in Durbs, pm one of us and well take you along. If you can surfskete, even better. Been riding my sons surfskate at the beach recently and it's sweet. We missed out on those things as lighties. Had a few kids suggest to me that those aren't for old people .
  22. Found it. That's cool. Well done to them.
  23. Shaune Easy dude. Nobody knows about those charities when they chip 295 bucks for the entry fee. You obviously are privy to the initiatives, and they all sound great, but the avg entrant isn't. So to some of us the entry fee doesn't seem justified, and we might not come back to do the event. To some of us it does offer value and we will be back. Each entitled their own perception of value. Maybe marketing at entry point saying x rand of your entry fee goes to these charities would be nice.
  24. Easy bru. Durban is a kiff place. Where did you go or stay that was ***?
  25. Also no race has a right to a sponsor. Sponsorship is given by a supplier because they feel the exposure they get and longer term revenue generation is worth the investment that they make. The event can do all they like but if sponsor feels they not getting a return then they gone like last weeks pay. I also imagine as a generalization, event sponsors are harder to come by as there is just less spare cash around.
