  1. ja got too agree when it was built by downhill okes they should have right Other trails should be shared, strange how it all changes, back in 1998 i used to stay in Sivermine military accommodation gain the mountain and Tokai was were i did all my training Back then you would hardly ever see bikes, mostly some going up oukaapse weg, now they all or mostly all offroad
  2. all depends what time you want It was my first race and first long ride ever, i manage to do it in cutof time on a shitty 26'' with sore knees After riding for some time i will aim for a great time next year. not sure if sub 7or sub 8 but i can really say that rolling hills at the end kills you if you are not fit For me i will ride montagu 2 times a week for 3 weeks and do a 50km flatout route door to door along the mountain with rolling hills and climbs
  3. i run and i ride maak ma plek vir mekaar sal ek se meeste van daai paaie is gedraf voor dit begin ry is so jy kan altwee kante toe stry oor die topic Ek skreeu ma gewoonlik as ek iemand sien en dan gee hulle pad, net so met stadige ryers en honde mens moet ma almal hulle plek gee om te doen wat hulle wil
  4. MTB barbie, do you have a link for me I think the wife might like this Thanks
  5. karoorider gave you the best advice there, i do a lot of running and this one work the best if you are brave enough put the needle in with a string , make sure it stick out long enough on both sides Now take another syringe needle and inject methyolite into the blister (make sure you drain the water first) this will burn badly but it heals quick after this best is to strap this even before you run or cycle, don't use those old shitty rugby strapping plaster, get one similar to that at the pharmacy and after you have strapped yourself leave it one, this will stay on for a milti day stage race if you put it on in the right way this is the only pic i can find now for around the foot in front, will look for one of the heels and post it later The blue plaster was for itb and acylis problems
  6. everyone is different Get yourself tested properly I don't really use HR for cycling , but in running my max would be round 190 and avg round 168, running at round 4min/km pushing it on a 3 or 5 and running at 3;30min/km it can sometimes spike to over 200 with my max 211 i use a garmin and find although it gives you every kilo you did and the max , you normally will find a higher max HR if you look at your total max HR over the distance you will sometimes spike in a race , even if it is for 5sec and that will show as your max , so even if its for 15 second it will show , rather look at your max HR per kilo and not at the one for the total race My HR will be a bit higher if i had flu or if i am tired and even if you are training on a empty stomach and the body feels a bit week
  7. i also had a look and couldnt find the seatpost size

  17. Does anyone of you use them and how does it compare to the other top brands They sponsor my one mate and he seems to be very happy with them http://www.mcfk.de/
  18. i also started on a cheap R2500 bike Attekwas was my first race -riding with the wife to finish it, that was also my first long ride Then i got into the sport and realized , you either get the racing snakes or the more social riders riding social you can do with just about whatever you want I also realized you will always be beaten by either a youngster or a old toppie, but you still have to race the best and try and beat them to get better -this is if you are competitive with a older say 13kg bike , like my old one i got to a stage where i wasnt getting any better and knowing what i wanted to race i got a R28 000 -10kg bike , this bike gave me amazing time and it's a racing machine , my old bike will never get close to it So it all about the bike aswell if you train hard, a fit guy will do much better on a good expensive bike compared to a a heavy bike take for example , my wife has a climp to the tower behind out house , she climb with her duel 26" -13.5kg bike , then the other days she did the same on a demo carbon bike(HT) -29 er, costing R30 000she improved her time by nearly 90 seconds I agree they are too expensive, you can buy a car for some bikes prices, the other day i had a pro was and changed a cable , that was like R300 or so, at the same time i had my wife car washed , vacuim and polish-all for R60 The point is if you can afford it you will buy the best and sometimes the most expensive my max are R30 000 or Hard tails for me and the wife
  19. don't buy gold stocks , buy gold Glad i am working abroad at the moment, at least i can smile a bit with some things
  20. Lance is a great athlete and i think he has moves on and that's great for him i am not a road cyclist but to make it easy they should have a life ban so you cant come back-finish and klaar There was a article in a SA cycle mag about this guy who doped, got banned and now that he he is clean he is racing again Yes he might be sorry about what he did but he still doped, what motivation is this for our young readers--dope and you might get caught but you can eventually race again Rather print stories about upcoming youngsters in the sport If you dope you should be be banned forever
