  1. I hear you, but there's the issue - people are not that accepting of purchasing repaired frames. Perhaps someone with experience in successfully getting 'full' value for the a repaired bike can comment but I have seen some high end bikes with repairs being advertised for abnormally low prices.
  2. and then I have a mate who's having an endless battle with them. Refusing claim for cracked frame as there was no incident - pointing blame to manufacturer. Long story - no bike now, for what must be months already.
  3. I have seen bikes that have been repaired being sold for much less than they should be due to the frame being repaired, and insurance companies are going to the repair route over replacement, surely this is a concern. Despite lifetime warranties being offered
  4. Are competitive as well?
  5. Looks like great weather ! Looking forward to a great day out, hopefully not too long though 😂
  6. Or stripped for parts across multiple bikes
  7. Imagine a world where comments are once again allowed on ADS. You sell your bike for xxx to one of the resellers only to see it advertised for xxx + 30% the next week. You then comment as such on said ad and all hell breaks loose! LOL
  8. Chapeau Tadej, a ride worthy of the stripes he wears , his regular blows eventually causing his competitors to crack.
  9. As the commentator said “ if a four man group of this stature cannot catch a solo rider with 12km to go” what a spectacle, still a headwind for 8 to come though!
  10. Tyres the least of the worries , that level of rain will result in a mudfest of note, my drive train is already crying at the mere thought.
  11. Where did this rain come from! WTF
  12. Can you elaborate
  13. Ja ney, I pulled out many years ago due to a partner issue, that was probably my one shot at doing the event , but had peace about the decision at the time . Often wonder if things could have worked out differently, but I wasn’t prepared to tackle an event of this nature with a complete stranger .
  14. very true on finding people to ride with ! This can be harder than you think - especially if they don't have an event of this nature looming on their horizon. The African proverb comes to mind: " If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far, go together."
  15. Good point - would a road bike then be the preferred training weapon of choice? Better yet a rim brake version if used outside with the MTB being used for the long off road rides?
  16. is partner selection not also a very important factor - a week with the wrong individual could relationship ending.
  17. ah, yes correct - typed too quickly
  18. the medium compound? I have the 45mm M and they are great - my first gravel tyre though - so can't honestly compare
  19. That was my gut feeling as well
  20. How reliable is the fitness measure on Training Peaks? My form always aligns or rises with fatigue hitting zero after a taper but fitness stays around 60? Sometimes lower I train consistently around 8 hours a week, without about 80% in zone 2 and the balance a solid spread across threshold , O2Max etc
  21. Have to say, looking back - such a pity that much of this thread was not about the performances of the athletes and gear on display.
  22. It’s a team event , so not Beers per se . His partner was clearly the weaker link.
  23. I’m out in Tulbagh, the heat is unbearable, I cannot imagine doing anything exercise related in these conditions, reckon the fall out rate for today is going to be monumental.
  24. Reading about the lack of decent facilities etc is just unacceptable for an event of this nature, actually pathetic!
