  1. The most fantastic ride I have ever done - and that was the first year! Entries are easy to get at the moment and it's also reasonably priced.
  2. Same thing happened to me when I opened my cornflakes... (BTW, they say that the package might not be full due to settling, does this one?)
  3. Both my old Geoff carrier and my new Thule one have places for number plates. I use them and have never had a problem. I don't see the point of this post. You failed to ensure your vehicle was roadworthy and got bust. Now you're blaming someone else? Since when have we been living in America?
  4. I've made some mistakes that have cost me - but in the long run, it's the only way...
  5. That doesn't take much. One of their salesmen once presented me with a range of road shoes after I asked him for MTB ones. He really didn't know the difference...
  6. Being more of a roadie I was quite amazed there are dumb@ss MTBers like that when I saw them!
  7. Saturday was 75.4 and Sunday 42kms by my clock. Conditions this year were good and the congestion not bad nearer the front. They do over hype it regarding the trails. Good mixture of Jeep track and some sections of single track. Definitely not the level they claim, but pleasant, hard riding nonetheless. I really enjoy this weekend of riding. Hardish, but not crazily so...
  8. It was fantastic and dry! Just enough mud to splatter the shoes and legs so it looked like we'd done some real riding!
  9. My opinion: - SRAM X9 (X0 is too fragile) or - Shimano XT (XTR is a rip off on spares)
  10. Cajees. Once before I knew about them for a service and never again...
  11. I stand corrected! ;-) typo early in the morning!
  12. 500 is a completely different beast to the 705. The 105 was to the 705 what the 500 is to the 800. Neither the 105 nor the 705 had temperature. You could get it on the hardware diagnostics screen, so I always thought it strange you could never actually display it on the training pages. One of the reasons I upgraded to the 800...
  13. So shall we meet at Dunkeld at about 18:30 to be in town by 19:00 to meet the main bunch?
  14. OK - if we can get a couple together... What time and from where?
  15. I see it has been moved to Melle and Juta in town. Is there secure parking there? I don' t want to park on the street and don't fancy riding alone into town at that time...
  16. Probably never contributed... maybe we should tell SARS to check that, too...
  17. Any final decision on the start/finish venue or are we starting from Dunkeld as usual?
  18. Sean is still trying to find the owner of this unit!!!
  19. I've always found them friendly and trying to do a good job. <RANT> Better than the lazy Metro cop *****s who sit in their cars watching the traffic strangle and refusing to do anything because they're too ****ing important to actually do their ****ing jobs and direct traffic . And that also goes for the useless JRA dumb@sses who obviously weren't getting enough kickbacks from the Pothole Brigade who were doing their jobs for them and fixing our roads so they cancelled their contract!!! Now our roads are falling apart again!!! Aaaarrgghhh!!!! </RANT>
  20. Climb up to Hekpoort, then rolling until Magalies, then the long, big climb out of Magalies. The back stretch has a couple of climbs, too. Nothing major, but enough to hurt your legs. Oh - and the Maropeng road can be a bugger..
  21. Having been hit several times by these pigs, I agree it is a disgusting habit.
  22. I'd agree with Johan here. I can't see a couple of small holes making a big difference to strength. My biggest concern would be to make sure the holes had good covers to keep dust out.
  23. SS is Spectrum Sport - a timing company from Vanderbijl. They don't have the resources of Racetec, but I have always found them to do a reasonable job. They are big in triathlon timing. I believe they do the Energade series.
  24. I presume you're feeling a little premenstrual. Go lie down for a little while...
  25. A properly fitting hard saddle...
