Morons like this really p*ss me off. It's illegal, dangerous and bloody stupid. The other day I turned left around a corner in my car only to find an MTBer in the road riding the wrong way towards me. How the tonsil survived not getting hit by my two and a half ton vehicle amazes me. I presume this was a supposedly intelligent and well employed individual judging by his bike. Why do so many cyclists brains disappear up their arses when they get on a bike?

My tuppence: If you enter a race, you should be as liable for testing as any pro. You are responsible for what you take. No excuses. I suffer from sinuses and take Sinumax. But I am BLOODY careful not to take it a couple of days before an event. Simple. If it was accidental, then bummer. If it was intentional, the guy IS a d**s. Either way, it's fair enough of the authorities.

Maybe not. I got nailed in similar circumstances a few years ago on William Nicol by a car turning across in front of me. He stopped, then decided to go for the gap and floored it. I never had a chance to touch the brakes and t-boned him at 40-45kph... Many motorists just reckon the physical risk to them of taking a chance against bikes is low, so they will go for it.
