  1. I think the only reason I am not worried is because I know it is too late to do anything about my fitness.
  2. As ready as I am going to be! Looking forward to a tough weekend.
  3. Good news, I seriously need to get a grip.
  4. Can't wait! Anybody camping at buffelspoort? We should have a braai afterwards.
  5. Maar jy is 'n wakker akker! If they have pulled out I missed it as well, but I don't think we have to worry about organisation, should still be top notch.
  6. Isn't it R320? Either way, well worth it. It is tough and has a lekker vibe. We are doing the 75km mtb and the next day the short trail run.
  7. I try to remember race numbers to report them after the races but always seem to forget it in the last 5km. I still can't figure out how anybody can think it is ok to throw their *** into the veld during a race. Would love to find out where these people live and start dumping my rubbish on their lawns.
  8. I had the same thought and actually prefer the silver. I got word from garmin sa that the new versions should be here middle to late Feb, think I might just wait.
  9. I want to hear from those of you that have the standard fenix 3 i.e. not the sapphire. By now most of you have been using your watches for quite some time and I want to know how the glass is holding up in terms of scratches? I have been saving up to get a fenix 3 and now have the money ready. That said, with the rand's poor performance the standard fenix 3 has become more and more attractive as opposed to the sapphire.
  10. "Tests showed that, at 40 kph, the Propel Advanced SL saves 12-36 seconds over 40 kilometres." - Is it just me or does this not make sense at all? At 40 kph even the heaviest, bulkiest bike you can find will still do 40km in one hour. If they said at 40kph it saves a certain amount of energy over 40km i.e. less work done by drag, that would make sense. Either way, I must agree, it is a good looking bike.
  11. I will be there. By far the most fun I had in a race last year.
  12. Firstly, welcome to the awesome sport that is cycling, hope you will have many happy miles. Now to get to your question. I would advise you to steer way clear of the so-called Makro specials. You will not be getting value for your money should you go that route. The suspension on those bikes are pretty much only there for cosmetic purposes. The frame and entire bike for that matter is very heavy compared to a proper mtb. Then we get to the drivetrain. The components on the makro specials are usually lowest of the low spec. Your shifting will be sluggish and just not lekker, this and you have less gears to play with (24 speed vs 27/30). The raleigh you are referring to has low end mechanical disc brakes which I would never recommend. I have had a bad experience with mechanical disc brakes and would choose rim brakes above them. My advice would be to look in the classified section for a good 26" hardtail bike. You should be able to get something with shimano slx or even xt components and possibly also an air fork in your budget range. I sold my merida hardtail a while back for R5000 and it had an xt/slx mix of components, tubeless tires (tubeless is the way to go) and a manitou R7 air fork, if you don't rush it you should be able to find something that you would actually be able to enjoy riding. Also remember to budget for kit, things like a helmet, gloves, shoes and so on. Hope that helps. I am sure there will be more replies tomorrow singing the same tune.
  13. I haven't encountered the same problem but usually only use prepsol on my drivetrain and my tires sealed pretty well even without sealant so my case might not be a very good comparison.

    D2D 2014

Thanks for the help with my handlebar . Good to hear you could at least finish.
  15. wrong thread...
  16. The wait isn't that bad, between 1-5mins usually, just enough to make coffee. I think the longest I have ever waited was around 12mins, depends on the time of day obviously.
  17. Also got a great deal on a Merida 96 hfs1000 on OLX about a month ago.
  18. I have found OLX to bring the most hits recently. Advertised a 4x4 trailer for my parents recently and noticed that someone was using my description and photos for a fraudulent add, emailed OLX and they removed it and banned the user the same day.
  19. The matchmaking they brought into csgo is quite cool. After playing 10 games you get a rank which is used to place you against equal opponents. This is more fun than the mayhem of the 10v10 casual servers. You should try it, I got a lot better after discovering the matchmaking. We also did the clan thing for dgl, but not too serious, think we won 2 out of 8 games.haha
  20. Do you guys play competitive matchmaking or casual servers? Strange seeing mention to CSGO and gaming on here but good to know I am not the only one with this combination of hobbies.
  21. I heard that it might be too blue?
  22. I throw my chain into a bottle with some prepsol diluted in warm water, shake it around and rinse afterwards. Works well, it's easy to dispose of and economical.
  23. To me it looks like a crack in the paint from a bump against something. Doesn't look to be in the area that carries the actual load/stress. IMO
  24. Probably didn't have a 100 to start off with...
  25. Thought this might be interesting, as well as serve as a training guideline for next year. What was your 94.7 Cycle Challenge 2013 time vs your time in the saddle the 30 days leading up to the event? My race time 03:29 Time in saddle 08:01 - Including the 55km mountain bike race (thanks to FitTrack) Definitely room for improvement from my side.
