  1. Thanks for all that info MDW, and all you other guys with helpful ideas. Now I wonder, why can't I just buy whey and mix it with 32Gi to get a good protein/carb mix? That way you can decide your own ratio? Alternatively you can add l-glutamine if you find in necessary?
  2. Does anyone know how long the slowest riders ride at this race? Or when the cut-off is?
  3. I've heard some claim that a hot tub actually is better for recovery. Any one got more info?
  4. I'd just like to know if the guys at USN let their kids use it
  5. I am used to 32Gi Endure, which makes me somewhat biased to the 32Gi Recover option. I will do some research Please keep the suggestions coming!
  6. Hi guys, I have searched the forum but could not find and concrete results. For the past 2 months I started training more intensely than usual. I found that my body takes long to recover after a decent workout - sometimes more than two days. From what I understand I could benefit from having some whey protein directly after my workouts to aid in recovery. I am however a complete noob with these supplements, and don't know what to look for in a protein shake. Any advice will be appreciated. I should also add that I am a bit overweight at the moment, and currently on the Weigh-Less diet, which includes a surprising amount of carbs, but not much protein. My idea is to take the protein shake once a day after my morning workout, replacing the recommended protein (yogurt or milk). I would still have 2 slices of toast together with the shake, as per Wheigh-less. So, who can tell me what I must look for in a protein shake, possibly recommend some brands etc. Hopefully there is something cost-effective. Thank you very much!
  7. 32 Gi has a protein shake??
  8. Pronutro released Active, a high protein shake. Who has seen it? Used it? What do you guys expect of this product? I suspect the pricing will be better than most others. Who knows what a tub goes for? 9. Glad to hear you and family is okay. When the dust settled, you should add your ADT complaints to the hundreds of others on Hello Peter . com Good luck with the reissuing of IDs, passports etc
  10. For me, its easier and quicker to find a suitable tar road to put time in the saddle than a gravel road - as much as I prefer MTB.
  11. Heads up Android users! Endomondo pro is on special today for R2.05 on the Play store!
  12. This makes a lot of sense. In a recent race I noticed how how little I lift my butt compared to other riders who have hard tails
  13. I'm a fairly unfit MTB'er, and recently decided to join a spin class twice a week. After each class I feel like I worked my ass off! I'm convinced that it is a good exercise for those who are some what unfit. But only as a supplemental workout - not to replace time in saddle. Maybe if you're already fit the advantages may be lacking, but at the moment I really feel like I'm working hard
  14. Wish I could go! Got family in Nieuwoudtville, but it's too far to travel for the weekend!
  15. I just put slicks on my heavy dual sus for the first time and I must say it looks kinda... funny. But it rides a bit easier, so I'm happy

  17. Hi guys, I'm a weekend warrior type MTB rider (more weekend, less warrior actually). In an attempt to get fit, and with the limited amount of MTB races where I live, I'm contemplating participating in road races too with my mountain bike. Have any of you done this? The purpose is obviously not to do a good time, but to get in some extra time in saddle. But I'm afraid of looking like an idiot going there with an MTB and doing a terrible time
  18. Nope, worked perfectly for me. Did both wheels. I couldn't find the Stan' syringe, so I had to improvise
  19. I cheated a bit... I took a syringe and needle, and used it to refill the sealant in my tubeless tyres. Do this with an fully inflated tyre and very thin needle. Fill the syringe up with Stan's, and pop it in, right on one of your tyres' knobbles. Works a charm PS: I only tried this cause my tyre are close to the end of their life and I am a wee bit lazy. Worked extremely well with very little effort and it is quick!
  20. Hi guys. Thanks for the awesome site! I'd like to suggest an option to subscribe to the events section, with certain criteria selected. For instance, I'd like to be notified via email of future events that may fit the search criteria by which I usually view the Events section (like type and location). What do you reckon?
  21. Never meant to bash the app. Just wondered if you preferred it over Endomondo which I know a lot of hubbers use
  22. What makes this better than Endomondo?
  23. So did my first ride to work. Its only 6km though. Will maybe look for a longer route in the future. Thing is, i'm pretty tired now...
  24. I went to Incredible Connections today, but their Targus backpacks are R1,000. So I rather got a cheaper bag from Totalsports. Can't justify paying so much for a backpack. Rather get something for your bike!
  25. Tomorrow I'll do my first commute. Its only 7km one way one way, but forman unfit guy like me its better than nothing. I'll be doing it on MTB and riding on the curb most of the time. Are there any tips for a firat time rider to make the ride most effective?
