  1. Here is my log for yesterday. I think some calories aren't represented correctly on MFP, because I ate A LOT of food. Felt a bit frail this morning, but I'm better now. http://s24.postimg.org/5j1dh8zc5/Capture.jpg
  2. So today was my first day doing Leangains. I had breakfast at 12:30 this afternoon which was a small avo, cucumber and bacon. Then at 4h I had salami, cucumber and a small avo. For dinner at 8h I had chicken breast with spinach and feta, cucumber and a tomato. I had two naartjies as snacks. After tracking all my intake the whole time, I saw that I still had far too few calories in. So I added a strawberry smoothie consisting of a cup of milk, some strawberries and a bit of xylitol. Im still in a calorie deficit for the day, which is awesome. I'm not sure if MyFitnessPal tracked a food source incorrectly,or if chicken and veggies are just really low in calories. But I'm feeling properly stuffed. Will see how tomorrow goes.
  3. Thanks for the link to the Fasting Twins channel. Just watched a few of their videos, they're awesome
  4. By 24hour fast I mean not rating anything for a day. That's one type of fast. Then you also get the leangains fast, which I'm going to try. That's where you fast for 16 hours and refeed for 8 hours a day, on a daily basis. The 16 hours fall mostly over bed time, so it sounds easy.
  5. Thanks to some advice posted by Hubbers, I decided to read up about intermittent fasting. The benefits seem great, especially for those who would like to loose weight or gain muscle. Here are some helpful resources: Articles:James Clear: The Beginners Guide to FastingWhat I’ve Learned from 2 Years of Intermittent FastingLeanGains guideLeanGains SummaryMark's Daily Apple: Intermittent Fasting Series Videos: The Fast Guide to the Fast Diet - for people too lazy to read the book BBC Documentary - Eat, Fast And Live LongerDr. Mercola Interviews Dr. Varady About FastingFasting Twins Youtube Channel (@HodgeTwins) I'm going to incorporate fasting in my own diet. I've just started with a 24 hour fast, but will probably try the Leangains method (16 hours of fasting, followed by 8 hours of feeding). I'll stick to real food and lean towards a low-carb, high fat diet during the 8 hours of feeding. Please share your experience with intermittent fasting. Cheers
  6. I've been Banting on and off now for quite some time. That approach certainly doesn't work. Recently I've decided to do it properly, and my wife is joining too. I've noticed that even when eating Banting foods, my portions are quite big. I did a BMI test, calculated caloric requirements, and setup MyFitnessPal. On the very first day of logging my intake, I was shocked to see how many calories I over consume normally, even when Banting. I'm feeling a bit weak and peckish, probably due to the calorie deficit. But I've got 25kg's of fat to get rid off, so I hope my body taps into that energy soon
  7. Don't klap a kitkat before your ride! IF you're taking some carbs for a ride, wait until you are on the bike and already warmed up. Else it might cause your glucose levels to sky rocket and to plummet again
  8. We recently started watching Orphan Black. Only 5 episodes into this Canadian series, and enjoying it so far
  9. Just stumbled upon this thread... So, did you relocate to Cape Town?? I'm also a developer (Web,asp.net MVC) but in Bloemfontein, and considering a move to CT to advance my career, but not sure if I'm comfortable with working in the CBD. Work in areas like Somerset, Stellenbosch, durbano, Brackenfell, Bellville doesn't seem to exist in this field though

There was a lady in the MTB ride who had a terrible fall. She was unconscious. Does anyone know is she's okay?
  13. The wife and I aren't fans of zombie-type series, but we started watching Walking Dead and can't get enough of it. It's awesome
  14. Time for some tasties: First is some boiled egg & avo salad - I had it for late breakfast and it keeps you full for a long time. Second is chicken strips with a tomato paste and garlic sauce over cooked veggies with generous feta and olive oil. Yummy
  15. Looky what I found! Crispy dried bacon straps.
  16. Some family from a small town in Namakwaland visited and as the topic became diet, they were all talking about this "Tim Noakes" diet and how it makes sense. Looks like the word is getting around! Even though they got the name of the diet a bit wrong
  17. So ironic, the very basis/majority of that diet consists of grains and cereals. Sponsored by Kellogs. Makes perfect sense
  18. speaking of, what happened to htone? i miss his input
