  1. I would've loved to follow the story of the incident in Blouberg as described in the OP, but that's not going to happen here
  2. Like someone else mentioned, now we can just wait for the Cape August bike ads on Gumtree
  3. Obviously I am trolling. Just trying to get everyone through the week! But this gave me an idea. We can even bring in the Hub logo if they'll allow it
  4. I don't get the Hub's hostility. I mean, we get the Durban July, Cape August and Margate December. Is it so far fetched? This is kinda embarrassing. We sent this design to the printers.
  5. Why would the organisers of the Cape August call it that when the race is held in March? Or was the race originally held in August?
  6. I am 1.86m tall. About two years ago, I was about 90kgs. During that time I was following Weigh-Less, and it seemed to work for me, even though it was quite difficult to maintain. I've never eaten so much in my life, like I had to then. I was also not exercising at all. Yet I could maintain a steady weight of 90kgs (which is good for me). Lately I am 104kg (was 111kg just before Argus, lost a few until 108kg, and then started LCHF). I'm struggling to lose weight at the moment. I can only imagine what cycling with 14kgs less must feel like According to my BMI, which I know isn't much to go by, I am obese. I'm not masculine at all. A typical day with Weigh-Less could include up to 6 slices of low-Gi bread . You have 3 large meals, and 3 snack meals in-between. Typically, each large meal would include at least 100g cucumber, 100g tomato's, about 100-120g of some sort of meat, and carbs in the form of two slices of bread or potatoes etc. Snacks would be biltong, a fruit, yogurt etc. Everything was low-fat though. Skim milk, fat-free yogurt, light margarine, no fat on meat, no droewors. You get the grim picture. I don't get how this diet worked, but it did for me. One possible theory is that, because you eat so often, your body doesn't need to store any fat, because it doesn't go into starvation mode. Can it be that because I get less hungry now on LCHF, I eat less often and my body goes in some sort of 'storage' mode? I am thinking of combining the eating patterns I learnt on Weigh-Less with the food choices I learnt from LCHF. Maybe have some fruit in-between meals, together with some droewors, biltong or yogurt. Have up to 300g of cucumber & 300g of tomatoes a day, but with some lekker cheese in the salad too, and olive oil for dressing. And still don't have any starches?
  7. My wife had accidently bought the odourless coconut oil from Dischem. This morning I tried it and it is amazing! I know it's more processed thanI normal coconut oil, but I can see myself having much more of this

    Got hit by taxi

Some progres: The owner (not driver) of the taxi phoned me yesterday and informed me that he has spoken to his broker and told them the matter is urgent. They will send an assessor as soon as possible. So I'm positive that we will see his insurance doing their part.
  9. & Getroud met Rugby a close 2nd
  10. That photo is believed (by me) to have been taken 16-09-2013 (yesterday) at 10:43
  11. Also tell him to let his wife browse through something like an Auto Trader to identify the correct vehicle make & model. "A white 4x4, possibly Ford" isn't very descriptive.
  12. If you are on that forum, tell the OP to post on the MyBroadband forum too. There are lots of eyes and knowledgeable people.
  13. I'm convinced that all spur's veggies have got sugar or some variation in it
  14. Those Scamtree ads have been removed
  15. I've also let one of the cycle shop owners in Kimberley know. Maybe someone can do some inspection and stop these scammers.
  16. I will be in Brackenfell for about a week with loads of free time, specifically Vredekloof. Are there any good MTB routes close-by, or will I have to drive to some fun routes? I don't know the area at all, so any advice will be appreciated. PS: I am rather unfit, so I am not looking to join any group rides
  17. Drivetrain is said to be in very good condition with almost no visible wear, but I would comment on it when I have the bike with me in a few days. Then I can also look at the weight.
  18. Hi guys. I've decided to try and help a friend sell his bike, but I'm not sure what it's worth. Can anyone give me some pointers? It's a Token full carbon 29er - Large. Complete XX SRAM groupset 2x10 gears Rock Shox Reba fork (not sure model or travel) ZTR Crest Rims Maxxis tubeless tyres (I think its Crossmarks) Pedals removed - buyer can put new ones on. The bike is in pristine condition with low mileage. The owner doesn't like the hobby any more (can you believe it!). I wish I could afford buying this bike now. It's light and very well looked after. Instead I'll try find a buyer for him. He wants R16k for it. Is that a reasonable expectation? Sorry for the poor quality WhatsApp pics. I can upload decent ones in a few days.

    Got hit by taxi

Thanks for all the generosity and recovery wishes, guys. Really appreciate it. When the accident happened I was way too shocked to think about assaulting the driver! I spoke to the taxi owner again and he said he'll see if he can claim from his insurance. So that would be great if he can make that happen.I paid my own doctor's bill but would just like him to assist with the bike. The oom who lives in the house into whose wall the taxi crashed commented that "its a pitty the driver wasn't killed". That's a bit harsh. I'm just glad we could all walk away. A friend suggested that I claim my cellphone's cracked screen, which wasn't due to the accident, from the taxi's insurance too. Funny how people's morals surface in such situations.

    Got hit by taxi

Second pic is actually the first. Sun rose quickly after that and then I snapped the one of the front of the taxi. Light was on helmet.
  23. While practicing in the morning before work a taxi literally drove me off my bike. He was driving at a moerse speed and wanted to turn left into the street I was riding in. He was too fast to make his turn so he hit my bike in the opposite lane. He came to a standstill after crashing into a wall. It happened extremely fast and I have no idea how I managed to not get hit. I don't know how I got off my bike, but it was like I kept standing on the tar the whole time. One moment I saw the headlights, next I'm standing next to my bike and the taxi has passed me. I thank God that I only have a bruised knee. I'm guessing my bikes top tube hit my inner leg, and the handlebars swung round to hit my outer leg. If I think of what could've happened, I have actually gotten off very well. A 30cm difference could've meant severe injuries. My bike will cost at least R5K and I simply don't have that cash right now. But not being able to ride is a small price to pay in comparison
  24. If I was one of the clients who phoned in and was ready to pay and the seller responded with a "no, someone indicated on the Internet they might be interested", I would be mad at the seller. I don't think anything unfair happened here and relax, or wait until Friday
  25. Well played, china
