  1. https://africageographic.com/blog/kasanka-bat-migration/ The info in the video is slightly outdated. The used mini solar panels linked to a tiny GPS to track 4 male bats. They moved up to 500km away one as far as 1000km. They spend the rest of their lives in the dwindling forests of DRC. The landscape ecosystem level dynamics are incredible, let alone local level.
  2. The bats. Biggest mammal migration on the planet! And then across to the 2nd largest wildebeest migration on the planet behind serengeti
  3. In one of the more silly decisions we are making, we have decided to go to Zambia for 4 weeks in October/November. Taking our daughter out of school (well she will be car schooled while we are driving). With a business that is struggling, we have decided to go away. Now that is sound business practice logic !

  10. Not sure if it has been discussed. Do any of you use cameras with speakers at home linked to the house wifi so you can dial in and check if all is OK when the alarm goes off?

  14. Lets be honest. We all use lift clubs and there is more than 1 person a car, so that reduces the car number by at least 50%. So that is 60 people in 30 cars as a minimum. *statistical analysis was performed by dual variance photographic analysis using a bi-quadrant polynomial derivative based on an IDT e bike powering a Mac from uranus*
  15. The guiding is the retirement plan for Mrs Slowbee and I. There is a real need for a small custom travel group encompassing the range of things this country has to offer. And since I have a bit of ADD, it will be the perfect thing for me in retirement! Oh and other people will pay for us to visit other places
  16. you lucky SOD !
  17. Stuff I learnt - its is always cheaper and faster to take it to a bike shop and let them do it. Otherwise I have to buy the same part 5 times and break it 6.
  18. Cois, you have got bigger balls than me! You chin up attitude is incredible. I have a few minor health issues this year in comparison to yours and I am fully ready to clutch out.
  19. Wow ! I need your salary and your contacts! At $10 000 a trip (R150 000) give or take for a few days is just a touch out my budget. I do follow his work and have wanted to do a trip with him before. But unless I win the lotto it is not likely to happen. PS Muchly jealous! Sounds like an awesome trip
  20. Have you been on one of the Pangolin trips?
  21. 100% committed on this run way
  22. So that little diagram is not so clear cut from a financial perspective. Add in other reasons and then it is a bit more clear cut.
  23. How much is fibre per month? And how much is the data of said fibre per month ?
  24. Had more time with this guy to get it right. With the Coral Trees and Tree Fuscia's in flower there were several different ones flying around. So managed to take my time on this one. Would have preferred a more open background. With all the light I had I could have brought the fstop down one or two stops to blur the background even more, but I was happy with this as a first real attempt. But I like that this shows how the bird fits in with the environment. Often this is how we see them, in a bush, not always against a blue sky.
  25. Sometimes luck plays a BIG role. I could not believe it when this chap just sat on a branch for a fleeting second. It was just pure luck that the settings all worked on both occasions.
