I don't think they ever rode together again after that race. [/quote'] For sure! Generally I do take them with to those races (dirty double/SabieX) but ride with just one earphone in. Myself and LBB/BBB know I always ride on the left where possible so just keep that one in. You can't be chatting for that long (sensibly anyway) unless you're the PIEMAN!

I know that at recent MTB XC races the commissaire (sp?) commented that they are not allowed. I would not use them at road races where bunch riding is tricky at best .... however at marathon MTB races I would suggest they are 'more' acceptable .......

Must say I am amazed at how many groups do ride in that area lately! I don't ride in a group (unless you count LBB and BBB) since we make it up as we go along (start times and routes). We also often have to be back at a specific time ............... Often people also don't like the way we go out and ride .......

Couple of thoughts I have on those who are bashing all and sundry at the Beijing Olympics:- 1) If as most people would have it only those who can medal should go then the Olympics in fact would just be another world champs in each sport and only the top 10 (if that many!) or so should bother to go ..... goes a bit against what the Olympics should be about no? 2) Perhaps those who are sprouting the most hot air should be more thoughtful (and yip I acknowledge that there are hubbers such as Sean Badenhorts and a few others who do!) about not only complaining and slagging those who did go but also providing some constructive thoughts. Those who went did so under the current rules/thinking and did their best, I for one salute them. They were after all the best we had for 2008! I wonder if all the other countries that finished behind us in the many events are also preparing lynching parties ............

Just a heads up, heard of a fellow who did the real 'scrooge' cheap skate tjoopless - insulation tape with a cut out tjoop valve - had a big fall when the tyre 'rolled off' the rim. Has internal bleeding and stuff, he'll be OK! On another tjoopless note - our new tjoopless puncture 'procedure':- 1) When you notice it's going down and isn't sealing stop immediately! 2) Find the offending hole, remove the thorn or whatever if necessary 3) Put your finger over the hole to stop any more air escaping (preventing total airloss from the tyre and a collapse and bead 'break') 4) Now decide what to do ........... use a tubeless repair if possible, inflate go The reason for this is that often the tyre ends up completely flat and 'uninflatable' before you have been able to do the necessary repair ......

Flip I nearly thought it was one of HR's mates from the east rand caught cheating .........
