  1. Pienk is pienk ou .... maak nie saak hoe jy die woorde draai nie 😜
  2. One of those 'for real?' times .... spent most of yesterday making changes to my Superfly (fitted a Fox TA fork to replace the crappy Recon that was on there, fitted the TA rear wheel as per my other post) Then it flippin rains most of the late afternoon and evening so the planned 'test' ride this morning was in jeopardy. Got up to glorious weather on the Highveld and decided might as well go look see what the paths and jeep tracks look like, turned out a brilliant ride, little mud here and there but no issue! Gives credence to that old adage - what's it like out? Get dressed, go out and when you come back you'll know what it was like!
  3. Just wondering if anyone has experience running this setup? Not about whether it'll fit .... I'm passed that point 😜 It's a Trek Superfly carbon frame ... I have the adapters fitted and the wheel is in, albeit a bit fiddly to get it in but not difficult. Also had to space the brake caliper a 'bit', adjusted the shifting of course
  4. Long Zone 2 ride, as the cool kids call it, yesterday .... better and better every week 😎 That area looks like an old time SETI site sending out hopeful signals, if there is intelligent life out there they certainly would do well to avoid us 🤪
  5. My weekly goal, points that is, is still on 900 as it has been for a very long time I still get it in 3 rides so I'm good with that ....
  6. Damn good point! I have personal experience, positive luckily .... Fell damn hard at a race in Heidelberg and landed with my stomach directly on the end of the handlebar. Was taken to the ER, luckily just a 'hugemongous' (as my 4yr old granddaughter says) hematoma. In fact it has never gone away completely. Thank heavens for bar end plugs!
  7. Don't most bike shops have a rep they call .... Quite a few of these 'agencies' also have B2B sites to check stock and order as well But as always don't mind me, just shouting out random thoughts 😝
  8. Not often I ride this bike but when I do I'm reminded why it's the 🥇 bike in my quiver! Sooner or later everyone wants to ride a Specialized 🤪
  9. "Consistency is a skill you can develop" Until missing a ride becomes 'uncomfortable' you not there yet 😜 #ItsWhatIDo
  10. There is a point surely at which it just gets stupid .... fitting more gears that is Then again panders to the use technology rather than get stronger/better at your craft brigade *don't mind me, just old and cranky
  11. I'm assuming you not inviting him to a braai while he's here?
  12. That has always been my understanding as well ... I am not aware of any distributors (cycling anyway) that deal direct with the public. Normally your LBS will have their CCS rep that they contact and it happens from there? I only know that the local CCS rep in my area does a damn fine job!
  13. So today I thought well let's calculate the total of all my bikes (a moerse lot 🤐) together including the 'retired' ones and I don't even get close to that .... around 85 000 and that's in also a 'moerse' lot of years!
  14. Wow 😮 I guess none of my bikes are in any danger then 😜
  15. Yes you can, ideally with those fancy cable to hydraulic calipers like the ones from TRP or like I do with mechanical calipers I must just add that if you decide to go with mechanical calipers, in my experience anyway they can be tricky to get just right and they do need adjustment quite often to keep that feel
  16. Depending how different those are doesn't chain length become an issue .... just wondering if it would affect shifting
  17. A bit anecdotal but after some advice from the Sheriff and my GP my brother and I took probiotics starting a few days before and then every day at Epic. Were careful as we could be as far as hygiene goes without being stupid about it and had no stomach issues Did the pleb meal and sleep tent option .... luck or planning we'll never know?
  18. Bloody hell dude, I expected there would be some big miles posted but that certainly shows what can be done with regular maintenance and due care as you say!
  19. A one time regular hubber of years ago @dirtrider taught me, as you say, with enough effort, duct tape and sealant any tire/rim combination can be run tubeless ... Then again legend has it he can weld wood As a reference I just recently did a wire bead tubeless on my training gravel bike
  20. That's some serious milage, I remember once reading about how long certain frame types (carbon, Alu, steel etc.) should last in years and then they go soft ... I certainly never felt anything like that 😎
  21. Pondering this morning on which bike I've done the most miles on over the years ... Although I'm not an 'anorak' I do religiously record which bike I did a ride on in Strava, thinking back pity I didn't record changes to the bikes or the maintenance I've done the most on my Monstercross 16912km (built 2016) and then on my Tarmac Disc 10581km (built 2019) Since I'm a bike 'hoe' I'm guessing that those who only have 1 or 2 bikes may have recorded more over time?
  22. I'll not be held responsible for what I do if anyone tells my wife that!
