  7. "Cycling is like a relationship. When the going gets tough, you don't give up, you just shift gears." A spot in Jobeg south that IYKYK ๐Ÿ˜ง

  9. Actually, having given this some thought I wonder if the bike industry is the cause of the 'fading' numbers at events .... specifically road Hear me out for a minute, by creating so many different categories of bikes and hence events then there will clearly be less at each type of event Gravel, enduro, up country, down country, 32" uber circus bikes, 'motorised' bikes in all of these categories.... 'huge' travel bikes that can be used in downhill and XCO But anyway here we are, ramblings of a 'timer as my neighbours woke kids call me
  10. Maybe a combination of 'fading' and the change of date ๐Ÿค”
  11. You're assuming he was dropping them ...
  12. If you pick the wrong fight at least pick the right weapon!
  13. Mailed them this morning, got my start time just now Earlier than I expected, chuffed with that ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  14. Every ride matters whether its your 1st or 500th .... whether its 5k's or 100 ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  15. I entered after the seeding time so I'm guessing even knowing my seeding won't help me much ๐Ÿค”
  16. I know I entered quite late but .... no start time or anything yet Anyone else?
  17. I have an older 520 with similar problems, every so often while riding it'll disconnect from my phone and reconnect then disconnect and reconnect the ANT+ HR and PM. Stats are all OK after the very short disconnect/reconnect. Problem is the livetracking then stops and doesn't restart and no auto upload at the end of the ride. I switch it off and on after the ride then the upload works .... I just live with it, nothing that affects my riding enjoyment ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have an 810 and 820 that don't have these issues, both the batteries are not great. The 820 I use for short rides and the 810 for long or rides where I need navigation then I just use a power bank
  18. Interestingly I have had mixed success with aluminum frame repairs. Sometimes I guess it's just where the crack is and other times just the luck of the draw? Have a rear triangle and frame hanging in my garage both as you say just cracked 'behind' where they were welded I have a Trek Superfly with a repaired rear triangle, about 2 years ago, which I ride fairly often and *touches wood* so far so good. Also a hardtail Titan frame as a Gravel bike with a small repair on the top tube, not been riding it that long but seems OK Just had that Bianchi frame I was gifted here on the hub repaired, a small crack in the top tube .... just a fun build though so won't be riding that a lot or far TLDR - it's a gamble, if I wasn't a "tinkerer" I probably wouldn't do it
  19. "Are you on an E-Bike, because all Iโ€™m hearing is whining back there" ๐Ÿคฃ Pretty windy on the way home today ๐Ÿ’จ
  20. Sorted ๐Ÿ˜Ž Using a piece of elastic mind you, how well it will last remains to be seen! Will fit it to a lesser used gravel bike for now and see how it goes ๐Ÿ˜ Lost a little grub screw during the fudging about, thank heavens for dremels. Managed to fashion something to work .....
  21. STR-7000 Thanks for that link! Having another go at it this morning then I'll see what might be needed
  22. Don't know if anyone else has had this problem .... Shimano 11sp (105 in this case) right shifter gets 'stuck' If you take the shifter off the bike and hold it upside down it works fine ๐Ÿ˜’ Shimano shifters are not 'serviceable' IYKYK Had some time (a whole morning) so 'tore it down', identified where the problem lies, now to find a way to solve it. Have tried a few options, works for a few shifts then stops ๐Ÿ˜’ Will have another go this morning .... anyone maybe solved it?
  23. You never too old to learn I guess but I understood that was true to an extent for 10sp front dรฉrailleurs but not rear? I have found this a good reference when trying to work out what works with what, and I do a fair amount of that! https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Bicycles/Maintenance_and_Repair/Gear-changing_Dimensions My suggestion would be a decent 9sp (XT/XTR) MTB derailleur with an 11-36 cassette as suggested by the Bro above
  24. Anyone by some chance have any 7970 (old Di2) bits lying around? Looking for a rear derailleur and possibly shifters Happy to pay a few sheckles and if necessary arrange and pay postage Thanks Ben
  25. The Amish would be proud my friend!
