  1. Nope started out a roadie even though I now MTB more than road! I'm also not stupid, I do know my limitations and they don't include riding on the edge of a cliff (amongst other limitations that is!).
  2. Hey SP - Hope you get well soon and remember the advice you gave Byron about proper recovery etc. etc. His shoulder is now 100%, off to Sabie tomorrow to ride the Sabie pre-ride, neither of us can wait!
  3. I wouldn't even walk there never mind ride!
  4. Lucky for me I am flying out to Germany on Sunday night and will only be back on Thursday so an enforced 4 day rest period!
  5. I also want a pair of thighs like that!
  6. Anyone else going? Pre riding the first 3 days. Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Can't wait.
  7. For those who have her mobile number she is SMS'able at the moment!
  8. Well, slowpoke, amateur and MichH (with her longsuffering hubbie) drove down for the Amashova. Slowpoke started with licenced ladies, amateur at 7:30 and MichH started at 7:51. At the second to last water point, MichH stopped and saw a message on her phone. Slowpoke had been in an accident. Luckily MichH had her hubbie at the ready so was able to send him off to the hospital whilst she finished as fast as possible. Long story short, she'll be OK, but it was a pretty bad one. Slowpoke was in the middle of a fast bunch of ladies going down the freeway just after Kloof when the group scattered for a pothole in the middle of the road. Someone swerved into slowpoke and she went down hard. Basically it looks like she went right over the handlebars. She was badly concussed, has a bad cut above her left eye and her eye is swollen shut. She's broken her left clavicle and she has some bad bruising on her left hip and knee. The worst was the concussion. Slowpoke suffered a pretty serious concussion and can't remember too much from the last few days. She's in St Augustines for 48 hours for observation and will be flown back to Jhb on Tuesday. Anyone wanting to send her well wishes please PM bigben and I will pass them on!
  9. Guess that's why it is important to always weigh yourself on the same scale when you try to lose weight! For comparison purposes more than anything else. Nicely put bikemonster! Only flaw in that is when you forget your pump and loan a mates at an event! But hey don't forget and there's no problem!
  10. Ok so up to now the comments have been about as useful as a glass eye! Where are the more techno savvy dudes/dudettes?
  11. FIT - Duratrain. Yip it does taste bad but worked for us at Sabie experience last year! I don't bother much though, only use it at important events (i.e. the Midvaal vets tour this year and Sabie last year!). Thighs were a bit stiff after Race4Victory, also rode a 3 hour MTB easy ride Saturday, rested yesterday but short hill repeats today and not feeling too bad!
  12. Anyone else notice that floor pump pressure gauges are not that accurate? Have used some different pumps but have checked with a digital car pressure gauge (one that I use on my motorbike since petrol station ones are as unreliable!) and they mostly seem to over read by anything from 4PSI and up! On an MTB that can make a major difference as you know!
  13. Crux - was dit nou nodig so vroeg in die oggend Sal nou die hele dag moet sit en wonder hoe ek vir so iets kan betaal (krediet kaart - ok so nie, klaar ge-max! Miskien second bond?) Enige idees welkom!
  14. OK guys enough already! I want a pair, how much?
  15. Agree with DR, I worked hard for the money and want to get the best value possible. if I don't need advice and know what I want I check for the best price (very often Cajees BTW). If I need advice or expect future service LBS here I come and yes I have spent more at my LBS than anywhere else!
  16. I buy stuff that I can fit and look after myself from wherever I get the best price. Have had very good service from Cajees (Oakdene) when I have had issues. Have however built up a good relationship wuth them over time. Only have emergency repairs done by them though! For all major purchases e.g. bikes, forks, shocks etc. I go to my LBS. Also repairs we can't handle at home (not much anymore, have been collecting appropriate good tools over time) I have done by my LBS.
  17. bikemonster - or meet someone nice?
  18. Hey MichH I never saw that PIC from last week with all of us in ! https://cdn.bikehub.co.za/uploads/temp/20061009_030132_ewep&ampBigBensmal.JPG Can you post again somewhere? Thanks
  19. Jason - you know that I am a Specialized fan and have the MTB helmet but that one with what looks like a motorbike force induction slot up front doesn't appeal to me either!
  20. Tough hey! Voted Ultegra cause that's what I got! Were it on looks I would go Campag carbon of any type! MTB SRAM! Ok so I also have a bike with XT and you better believe it it also works OK! Yip I am confused
  21. I'll offer 100 ZA Rond more than Jason will!
  22. Never thought of that (no comments from the peanut gallery please!), it was a training ride so perhaps he was on his training wheels who knows!
  23. Or even swap a Raleigh for something decent?
  24. Saw an oke sunday with a 'normal' rim but with one of those extra long valves, flippin heck it nearly looked like an extra spoke!
