  1. 2 * Road bike, GT with 8 sp 105/dura ace mix for training, Specialized with 9sp 105 for racing - haven't really noticed that riding the different bikes affects me when I race. I obviously have noticed that wear and tear is reduced as it is split between the bikes and I don't mind a bit of creaking, rubbing and scraping etc. on the trainer so will 'sweat' the components longer! 2 * MTB, Fuji Mt. Fuji pro HTwith XT used for most training and has been raced once or twice (when the Specialized has been out of action), Specialized FSR DS with SRAM X7 (whoohoo got the 2007 X7 RD yesterday, very nice!) for racing and long training rides. Same issue with the components as the road bikes.
  2. You should know that my training partner's motto is that if there's more than 1 of you it's a race so normally not much time for looking around! Interesting that 'moms' incentive, I'll be paying it anyway as she doesn't work so I guess it may in fact not be in my interest to try to hard! On the other hand if he gets a better time so do I!
  3. ewep you animal! I did wave this morning. I will rest Sat before 94.7, my wife has incentivised my son R1000 under 2:40 and R2000 under 2:35! so we will be under pressure to pace the kid as best we can.
  4. CP - Wasn't sure how I would recognise you but DR said just look out for the babe test riding the Merida!
  5. Enjoyed the MTB race, no problems, not the most exciting course ever but hey I left without falling and all skin intact. The same can't be said for my son! Mistakingly rode with a 'rain coat' on. Flip the sweat was pouring down the arms so badly that I eventually had to remove the gloves as they were soaked. After the 3rd lap removed the jacket and it was OK! Nice to see Ewep, Slowpoke, Dirtrider and Chilli Pepper (DR you were correct ) at the finish. MichH - Were you in a really bad mood? Saw you rushing through the exit door at the Dome afterwards, waved etc. but no reaction!
  6. Did other MTB guys/gals get a goodie bag? I picked up 5 numbers and got nothing just a number board for each 1! My red rocket is back in action! Whoohoo FS here I come! Hope to see some hubbers after.
  7. Oooops Crux! You are correct, subtle difference there!
  8. Hey EWEP - good taste those Specialized okes hey! They also make really good bikes (as always not biased at all!). BTW What you riding this weekend?
  9. MichH is starting to sound like me! I always need to be home by around 9am on the weekend when I go out to ride. The only time that is negotiable is on race days!
  10. Bit slow at work today Casci
  11. Makes me think of my, at the time 14 yr old, laaitie riding the 94.7 in 2004 in 3:19 on my Peugeot Mirage from my Ironman days (last one in 2000!). 7 speed shimano 105 with shifters on the downtube, real leather saddle, Look PP56 (the good ones with adjustment!), plastic bar tape. That despite the chain snapping near the end! But hey even he has moved on to something better, from that to a Raleigh RC3000 Malcolm Lange edition (yip signed by the man himself, or was that a transfer?) now on to a Merida and he still desperately wants one of those Curve-eh-low's kitted out like Jason's (stop posting that / those pics!!!! please!). maybe Santa in 2006? He rode 2:49 in 2005, was it the bike? Yes, and the training!
  12. Michelle/Scotty: Guess I'm a bit short of hope? Primary school Springs, High school Nigel! Now in Alberton - Ai Ai Ai! Jason: Now if that was not a marriage proposal then I don't know! And from the reports I have read you should now say I DO ! Lucky chap you!
  13. An 'ueber' weapon!!!! Flip now you upset me posting that picture! If Byron sees that the pressure will be back on again (he would be happy to give my, not his mind you, left arm, kidney etc. for one of those as he keeps telling me!).
  14. When you get there they search you for a weapon, if you don't have one they give you one! Turbans I think might be optional!
  15. Jason - is your passport in order? Visa available?
  16. DR - you'll have to go to ewep's place to ambush him, remember because of YOU he's not allowed out (gated as the kids would say!). Ai Ai Ai!
  17. SP - I for one can sympathise with those who want to leave shortly after having ridden a race. In my case it revolves around the fact that my wife doesn't ride and in most cases is waiting at home for us. She does attend the big ones (e.g. 94.7, Sabie experience etc.) and also the important XC races as they are multi lap so she at least sees us passing every so often. She is not too keen to hang around at the finish of a race for th 2.5-4 hours it takes for us to finish!
  18. SP - he drank it before we even left N/Farm! He in fact has one of those (alternating between Strawberry and Chocolate) in his lunch every day, well looked after by his mom the young man! dudet - kan jy miskien een of ander tyd met my vrou praat? Ons mag net elke tweede naweek race (oefen so lank dit vroeg in die oggend begin en voor 10 die oggend terug is is OK!). So daarna gedink moet ek seker nie complain nie! Die rules is duidelik! Thug - You are correct REBA = a couple of races to be missed no problem! Michelle / Jason - hope I hijacked this thread enough that at least you guys had a break from the personal niggling and stuff you seemed to be getting unnecessarily!
  19. How about chocolates and flowers, can you then come play on Sunday? I'm trying hard here if you didn't notice for flipsake! http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/emotions/thinking/6.gif There will be loads of fun to be had on Sunday but probably not worth the wrath of she who pregnantly must be obeyed! http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/patriotic/troops/3.gif
  20. Ooooooooops sorry! PM me her details and I'll send her an apologising box (beeeeg) of chocolates or bunch (beeeeeg) of flowers if that will help a friend out of trouble (and back into races of course!) http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/emotions/sad/20.gif
  21. Moi? No way Jose! Now it is getting really interesting pray do tell! You can't leave it in the air like that. Don't tell me you bought the Reba! http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/humor/embarrassed/10.gif
  22. Ewep: Don't want to pry too much (ok then I do!) but what the flippin heck did you do/say to her to make her that mad that a romantic dinner can't fix? http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/love/breakup/11.gif Perhaps expensive jewelry = http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/love/peace/15.gif Do I recall that DR was involved?
  23. Ewep: Aren't you suppose to be putting things right with your missus, how can you have time for such drivel? BTW how's the 'romantic dinner' going?
  24. Beee: Nie half so erg as die graan krisis in Zim nie!
