  1. http://weather.news24.com/sa/durban So Durban is saving the heat for us... The one I trust more is a bit more positive though - https://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/KwaZulu-Natal/Durban/long.html
  2. 230's on special. https://sport.takealot.com/sport-garmin-forerunner-230-white-purple/PLID41469983 They flew. I managed to pick one up for my wife as well, with my discount, R2,160.
  3. Has anyone perhaps seen this guys' take on itbs, which at this stage seems like you have to buy the book to get the solution? Paul Ingraham https://www.painscience.com/tutorials/iliotibial-band-syndrome.php
  4. I'm all for driving the route, being familiar with it, being more reserved than brave due to the frightening nature of this particular one, in fact I would rather want to know exactly where I am and what is left, than being in the dark. BUT not the day before....
  5. Well, last week I did 19, this week 0, next week 0. Well, apart from the 4kms along the beach on Saturday and then a longer one on the Sunday... The king of Comrades.... "This is my last training week for May 1983, a pattern that varied little for over a decade; Sunday - steady 15 - 20 km Monday - easy 8 km Tuesday - easy 5 km Thursday - no run Friday - no run (took a very good look at the route instead) Saturday - no run Sunday - Comrades marathon 1st in 5:30:12" http://www.brucefordyce.com/single-post/2017/05/08/THE-STEEP-SLOPE-TOWARDS-COMRADES
  6. I doubt the quality of mine was on the same level as your's Andrew, but thanks for making me feel a bit better about my doing nothing after 800km's since Jan now... I worried about our kms not being enough, but since this is our first year, I cannot see where we could've fitted in more, especially since the kms we missed was due to niggles etc..
  7. OH NOOOOOOOOOO..... I was afraid the whole time that the silence may perhaps be bad news...
  8. I knew this was going to be the answer... Yoh, this just does'nt feel right :D
  9. Should I attempt the 90 mins slow run this weekend, see how it goes and stop as soon as I feel the itb? Or really stick to the NOTHING at all?
  10. So it seems I am doing taper deluxe.. Got advised to do NOTHING this two weeks as my itb just does'nt want to improve enough even with physio twice a week. I feel it from 5km's onwards. So NOTHING it is then. Damm frustrating.

  12. Do we know yet how the numbers will work at Comrades? ASA numbers as well or the same as with OMTOM, only the race number and not ASA numbers?
  13. Do you have the explanations of the colours? I can work out most of them, but not all.
  14. So I think we found the mother of all my ITB problems last night when I almost peed my pants at the physio. My TFL apparently. Like in this video (of the dude with muscles that hides his muscles ) from 03:00. I tried to foamroll this morning, but I can hardly touch that area, never mind work it. But here's to hoping that we can sort this out in the remaining two weeks.
  15. I hav'nt checked if your question was answered yet. What we did with my wife's watch (Garmin 15 with only 5 hours) for if something happened and we had to split, during Two oceans was. We only started her watch in the second part, so that she had enough time on the battery to the end. I also started it in such a manner that she had "10's" left. For example lets say you work on 5 hours for your wife's watch, start it at the km's that will work out with the 5 hours, but do it on 47/57/67, so that she has 40/30/20 to go, so make help make the calculations if she needs to make them easier.
  16. Certainly, but forcing your strides smaller than natural feels like exactly that, forcing and not comfortable and I don' think that is right either?
  17. This. I hear everywhere about shorten strides in increase cadence, but then I look at the strides of these folks and the David Gatebe's of this world and eeerrrmmmmm......

  19. Anybody else? Or is this not something I want to do on raceday (even with trying it out beforehand)? Should I rather just shave and tape it?
  20. Apparently it helps to relief the pressure in that area. Yup, the idea is to start using it now, together with the rehab etc etc.
  21. Does the itb straps help? Obviously temporary, but at this stage I need to do what can help me get trough the next 3 weeks and the big day... And which one? https://clicks.co.za/clicks_patella-itb-strap/p/223705 https://www.hitechtherapyonline.co.za/products/mueller-itb-strap http://www.rocketsrange.com/rockets-itb-strap.html https://sport.takealot.com/sport-ultimate-performance-itb-strap/PLID38532015
  22. I see lots of moaning and bitching about earphones. Although the rules was there, beforehand. And they announced it. Same with the littering, people just continued to blatantly throw their water sachets on the ground without any effort to do as instructed As jy nie wil hoor nie moet jy voel.....
