  1. I see you only wear your omtom number. Not your ASA nunber at all
  2. How's this for an answer.. Mind plotting a road closures map for the organisers whilst you are warmed up now? LOL Thanks a lot
  3. 4. It would've been really grand if they could give a map with the road closures for the omtom and not just a list with all the names.... Do you guys perhaps know how my folks will be able to reach Hout Bay after dropping us off at the start? I guess not over Constantia nek, or what route do they need to take? And then where in Hout Bay might be the best for them to set up camp for the day, nice spots, considering it is two elderleys with my two little ones, so preferably park close by the point where they can support?
  5. Thanks, I know it's prayers that it going to pull here through this one, not herself/us. I can already see how we walk the downhills and run all the ups. Enjoy it guys and travel safely
  6. I think the nerves are starting up yes, our first omtom... What makes it worse is I am a bit loss about the strategy. Being our first, knowing I must not go out to hard (going out to hard breaks my wife especially), but not knowing how much I have to provide for that loaded second half, but then also not knowing what my wife's itb is going to do, especially on the downhills. So if we lose time on the ups and downs, then we're screwed, how do you build a pacing strategy with that... lol I guess go out as slow as I know we need to and see what the day and the second half throw at us and take it as it comes, without not knowing what awaits around the next corner. We are VERY much looking forward to it though! It looks like a nice, not too windy, hottish day is awaiting us on the back of a cold front this week. Hopefully there will still be some of the cold around. Saturday 15/04/2017 02:00–08:00 14° 0 mm Gentle breeze, 5 m/s from southeast 08:00–14:00 14° 0 mm Light breeze, 3 m/s from east-southeast 14:00–20:00 24° 0 mm Light breeze, 3 m/s from south
  7. At R213 for 20 shots it's a fair bit more expensive than the home remedy though. But thanks.
  8. Get a foam roller as well, you can relieve a lot of that yourself.
  9. Yup, works like a miracle. Advice from a old Ear, nose and throat specialist oomie... I have experienced nicer things in my life as stated, but luckily one gets used to anything quickly.
  10. Gargle salt water, even better ( and WAY grosser ) is take a 250ml water, with half a teaspoon salt, a little bit of bicarb of soda on the tip of the spoon and the same little bit of sugar and suck it through your nostrils, whole glass, twice a day. It opens up everything as you can imagine. Twice a day for starters, once for maintaining. Not sure what you use already, but something like neo claritine/dazet daily and also omnair daily. My sinusitus is much better since last weeks dodging of the antibiotics. My wife also had the throat and nose signs last night, so we also need to keep this incheck before next weekend!
  11. It looks like the cold should be over by next weekend as well and they predict nice and sunny at this stage. Wouldn't mind clouds though!
  12. I have a R35 per month broker fee and that's it, no yearly review costs. He gets his commission from momentum (out of your premiums obviously). I had momentum life insurance before I had momentum health or multiply. You get 60% discount on your life insurance if you are on private club.
  13. I have a broker that helps A LOT with the life insurance and health, especially where there is difficult claims or gap cover claims. You simply cannot know about and keep up with all the products and add-ons and what you can claim against what and what not. I will not do my life insurance and medical aid without a broker. And yes, that is where big points are as well!
  14. Private club has indeed had a huge influence on my credit card. hehe Our whole family is flying down to Cape Town and staying in the Protea Hotel for the 2 Oceans, thanks to private club, for a BARGAIN.....
  15. Omtom - Another stupid question. Is it really that chilly in the mornings that you guys take tops with? I should be ok, but the ladies don't gel with the cold normally. And do you tie it around your waist when you take it off till you get to your support? Or support is only at Houtbay and I'm not sure I want to run a marathon with a top flapping behind me.
  16. Active days is just 24% of the total needed for private club. I like the changes they made to the structure this year. Straight forward and easy, not a hundred different thingies you have to do. And I agree, it is NOT difficult to get to private, I re-qualified before the end of Feb already.
  17. http://www.racefood.co.za/product-category/all/ Two new Farbar flavours.
  18. WRT the racing number and disqualifications, I can't seem to google it. Where and how should your racing numbers be fitted? OMTOM will be our first race for this year Is it the ASA numbers on the front and back, with the race number on top of the ASA number on the front of the shirt, but with the race number just covering the ASA number, not the logos? 19. The issue is not the treatment of the ITB, it's the timing. She picked up the itb a few weeks back and has made huge inprovement, but OMTOM is next Saturday. She only feels it on the downhills. But it's not nice to toss away a years training and all the expenses and not finish the race just because the ITB wont let you on the downhills. And yes, I realize she will not be the first and last and there is much worse sad cases out there...
  20. Thanks for helping, but not helping...
  21. So if the ITB becomes unbearable, that's it, the end of your race? And if she is on anti inflammatories now, how long before the race should she stop taking them?
  22. Many of us can get away with 1 or 2 towards the end of an event There are also better options than Myprodol if you must go that route... This is what it would be if it happens, no more than two on the day. What is the better options?
  23. This was the advice given to her, I just wanted more opinions as I under normal conditions would'nt even consider it. Thanks
  24. My wife has been going for her itb treatments 2/3 times a week and she kept up with the strengthening and foam rolling. It has been going really well on up to 20km's. We have been avoiding hills and more specifically downhills due to this, so this morning we did a tester 14kms. She definitely feels the itb the most she has of late on the downhills. So this will be the challenge I guess at OMTOM, on the other sides of the ups. Considering that Comrades is the next goal, will she really bugger it up further if she pushes through and finish OMTOM, the way I understand it you can't really do "more" damage to it, or can you, or is it just the pain factor? And then, what is the option here, do you go with the lots of water and myprodols and just get it done? Normally I will not even consider a pain pill. The other thing this is going to stuff up is my strategy, which I have not really settled on for starters...
  25. Without a doubt, especially where you are already... 21km-Novice-Training-Programme.pdf 21km-Advanced1.pdf
