  1. Thanks Mate, There was some discussion about using the correct chain, which is the only part that comes into contact with the AXS other than the bolted connection (I think)
  2. Such a pretty sound. Now I am considering getting one for my Shimano XTR machine - just not entirely sure if it will definitely be compatible???
  3. I didn't do it at the 30% sag - good point though it seems to be working well (must the B screw be set while at 30%?) I used the provided tool.
  4. Spent the whole of Easter sunday installing The physical installation wasn't so bad actually but when it came to the set-up and adjustment I really struggled. The main issue was the middle jockey wheel clashing with the 2nd biggest cog on the cassette.(I fitted a new chain which I lengthened by 2 links to accommodate a previously fitted bigger chainring. Couldn't seem to avoid the clash despite wearing YouTube out!!! Eventually opted to refit the original shorter chain which worked but left me with indexing problems only to discover that I needed to re-adjust the B screw. After that and some minor indexing she worked and I had to set about placating Mommy. Did an 80km ride to Northern Farms with our mtb group and the AXS performed like a steam train - not a beat missed - just have some minor cockpit adjustments to be made and I set to enjoy. PS I also installed the new Rocker paddle. Highly recommended!!
  5. Mine arrived today ..... Any tips for a novice bike mechanic?
  6. Gents, Please school me here - will the GX AXS fit directly onto a Shimano 12 speed ie keeping the cassette etc. So will just bolt on in place of the Shimano derailleur?
  7. Exactly how i felt when I tried out the AXS - I kept going the wrong way!!! Solved that problem by adding the new SRAM Rocker paddle to my GX AXS order. https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/ec-axs-rock-a1
  8. The tyres have certainly been conversation starters I originally planned to just replace them with black ones, but was talked into keeping them, now they've grown on me. Surprisingly, they haven't required much maintenance and have been subjected to quite a bit of greasy mud and the like so far.
  9. So I took the plunge and installed the tool bottle cage to the underside of the down tube. Just back from a 35km ride and it seems to have survived well. Will take some proper rough stuff to worry it I think? Apologies for the orientation - not sure why - they are correct on my computer.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that the plan is just for the tool bottle, not a second water bottle.
  11. my KTM Prowler only has space for one bottle holder but does have the bolts for another bottle cage under the down tube. When I hold the cage in place it looks very exposed although there are no signs of previous damage to that bottom face (which does have a hard plastic protection cover) I don't see many bikes with anything mounted in this position and am wondering why.
  12. I took quite a fancy to this bike and was seriously considering a used one advertised on the Hub. My two concerns were the wheels in the event of a crash (there is apparently a factory warranty allowing a 50% discount on replacements, in the event of a crash, but I was unable to confirm it) and then those beautiful syncro's one-piece bars which do not allow any stem adjustment. Still a really cool looking machine.
  13. Love my Lakes too - will be needing an upgrade soon.
  14. Great lessons for future rip-off artists here on Bike Hub as well as any forum driven platform. It certainly appears that the culprit only responded after realizing the **** storm he'd created single handedly. Well done to everyone that was part of the solution. It may not have been a lot of money but the principle wins out every time.
  15. Ecobound and all their events are firmly off my Christmas list!!!
  16. Agree 100% Ive been using Squirt for some time now and recently discovered a real grunged up jockey wheel and some other unseen areas that get overlooked in the normal wash.
  17. Just read every post in the hope of understanding why I can't find a new Stumpjumper - never mind AXS !!! Two bikes mentioned as similar were the Transition Spur - who just told me they only bring in on special order and the YT which i still have to research. How does one purchase a bike then - just on reviews - surely not???
  18. Discovery is discriminating against people based on the colour of their skin, which is otherwise known as racism. When companies the size of Discovery join in the racism rhetoric - the ruling party have done their job. This is exactly what happened in Zimbabwe and we know how that ended.
  19. Well said DD and Thanks for the heads-up re the width - I did feel that on the initial spin. I guess it's the new found freedom your toes are celebrating
  20. Hi Folks, Just by way of a report back. I did get a very prompt response from Kim and James who are the Lakes agents. The supplied superb service and I am now the proud owner of a lovely pair of Lakes. I have only tried them on the trainer so far and will see how they feel on the Club ride tomorrow.
  21. Thanks so much for the info DD, I have an appointment with the Lake agent so hopefully will have some joy. I will report back. Regards
