  1. You guys should have a look at Rotwild. Pure German engineering.
  2. Best is to deal with Hanber(owner) directly, that's why I haven't had any issues with them.As for your wheel barrow, I do agree, not the ideal place-try a hardware store
  3. After trying a couple of bike shops over the years, I have to say Hanber @ Cycleteknix is very reliable, and helped me out of a few tight spots, prior to race day. Any lbs with a high staff turnover,is asking for trouble. Make it your responsibility to get to know the staff and mechanics, and see how they operate. I hate it when some of these floorguys treat you with such ignorance. As for Bridge Cycles-I'm not surprised!
  4. Nothing beats Powerade! The blue one.cause I laaik the colour!
  5. See that your hanger and rear wheel is aligned, also check for wear on your cassette. Worn teeth can contribute to your problem
  6. Any bike will do, as long as you ride the life out of it. Riding is what it is all about.Remember buying is the easy part, maintaining it is another matter...
  7. Very good looking bike! But a pricey. Saw something similar at Makro for under a grand. It pays to shop around1
  8. Doing the trails in the West Coast Park tomorrow outside Langebaan. Takes about 2 hours.Great for game viewing.Anyone welcome to join from 9 or so.No hunting rifles allowed though...
  9. Will be wet.cold and then some...Just fixed my bike from winter weather damage,so I will lay low this w-end. Good luck to all y'all, and will see you at the lbs for repairs.
  10. It makes the idea of having to work for a living, seems utterly ridiculous. It's where I go to make sense of it all, where I disappear in a bubble of selfishness. It's where my child hood dreams still flicker and come to life for a short while. It's where mother nature shakes my hand and say: 'Good having you around'. It is my religion...
  11. Depend on condition and components. I think its slx/xt mix with slx crank.Good bike nevertheless. Retail for R15/16k I think. Don't rush into any sale, unless you feel comfortable with the bike. I will squeeze him a bit for price,so you can do that tubeless conversion which you will need. Look at cassette and chain ring wear, as any replacement will cost a bit. Good luck!
  12. You can't go wrong with any of them, but a 2nd hand cannondale flash would change your outlook. I do have a soft spot for momsen though...
  13. Being a bit silly with the weight issue. Why not trim some of your waist, and if are anorexic, get a unicycle
  14. Love It!Poor child been taken to the cleaners.Got to feel for silverback though...They can do with some good publicity for a change.
  15. Die bulls supporters se vrouens doen die slaanwerk vir ons!
  16. Easy to scan individuals. A simple Q&A will do. Example:1} Are you a proud Bulls,Man. Utd. supporter? 2} Do you speak in clicks and grunts? 3} Are you still walking on your front legs? Yes, to all the above should send enough warning signs!
  17. Site looked legit, but also looking for deraileur hangers.Over R400 locally, com pare to USD 28.
  18. After taking my flash to the doctor today,(with no severe injuries) I am expecting quite a bill, just for it being Cannondale. So I came across an american site which cater mostly for cannondale (www.vitalmtb.com) to compare prices and try to understand why we pay so much for certain brands. Well the Flash Alloy 29er 1 is available for USD 1499.00(+-R12000.00), and at our local bike shops, you are looking at R25000.00! Now I have heard of taxes+shipping+import duties, but how can this be? I am not pointing fingers at our lbs,but twice as much for the same product, someone somewhere must be having a laugh..
  19. Buy what you can what you can afford, because neither of them will last forever....
  20. How about losing the weight,or getting fitter, stronger and smarter?Reliability first.Nothing more annoying than looking at the classifieds, only for some spark wanting to know the weight of the item/bike.
  21. If you have no experience in the sport, best to buy a cheaper bike to mess around with and learn some of the pain and suffering(you will fall/crash) before damaging something a bit more pricey.Look on the hub for a good hard tail with fairly decent specs.Schwinn Moab Comp is selling for R 5000 new... decent bike to start with.
  22. Amazing that we still have to worry about punctures in the 21st century. But before I switched to tubeless,I ran on tire liners and hardly had any punctures. A minefield of thorns will quickly destroy any tubeless, and fixing tubeless in the middle of nowhere, with a clogged valve is up there with having you teeth pulled with nose pliers. Those who says that it's part of mtb, should try being stuck 30km from the nearest town with no cellphone signal, carrying your bike in the blazing sun.Good times....
  23. I don't care how much the organizers put in their pocket. What I have seen is that it's superbly run,and if my body and wallet will allow it,I will seriously consider entering. Some of the terrain is frightening, and the climbs never ending. So hats off to all the organizers-Great event, you all deserve a medal. The only fly in the ointment- more television coverage please!
  24. I have been looking at the A 10,which is very well specced, but no reviews anywhere.Someone go and ride the bloody thing!
  25. Remember that a 29er hardtail is hard, its nothing like a dual suspension 26er. I had 2 29er hardtails so far, one was a R45000 carbon bike, the other one I have now is a alu Cannondale flash which I like a thousend times more than the more expensive carbon bike. Have to agree, I also have the Flash 29 alu,and the best hardtail I've ridden by a mile. Also find alu frames softer and more comfortable than their carbon "weightwatcher" cousins.
