    Stolen Scott

I thought of that but I reckon that, like Confucius say: "he who lose bike know who he is, and is likely to have complained to all his mates about how pee'd off he is", ala Intern. I've had some PM's, but nobody has id'd the bike correctly- like what model, pedals, computer, bar ends, etc....

    Stolen Scott

They did that at the Ressano Garcia border post a couple of years ago. SA Customs confiscated a whole lot of bikes over a period of time, and held an auction. Apparently a prominent shop owner in Nelspruit snapped up some good bikes cheepcheep. I just want to avoid being the "guy to go to" here in Xinavane whenever a stolen bike appears, not because I don't want to get hold of the hubbers about it, but because the message will go out to the slimy bastards in SA "hey, there's a mlungu in Xinavane who's buying up our bikes. Lets redistribute some more." In the end its us who lose. Also, as a wise young dude told me this morning.... "Guys... LOCK UP YOUR STUFF!" Actually- that's not so wise. Its plain common sense. Stolen Scott

Hi Rad- its a MTB. The owner must get hold of me quickly, so he can make the call- do I get it back for him, in which case there's the question of "reward" money, or does he want to let it go. If the owner wants it back I will give the thief the "reward" money, but the issue of creating a market remains. Then I will arrange with the owner to get the bike back to him.

    Stolen Scott

A stolen Scott has turned up in the local village. Please contact me with details of your stolen Scott. It will have to be quick before the guy moves the bike. I'm due to meet up with him on Monday.
  13. CB, after I get fired for being AWOL every afternoon for the next 3 weeks I wanna ride Moz, Malawi and Zim. Maybe Zambia. Wanna join me?
  14. Sometimes you just can't carry on, with all the will in the world, unless you pack your bike on your shoulder and haul it home, 16k's away, with clay glued to your wheels adding an extra 10 kg's, slipping and sliding on plates of clay stuck to your shoes. CLAY, not just mud. Ooooffff.

    Neck pains

Unless she has neck problems off the bike, then the bike fit is wrong, or the bike is too big. You don't say whether its a MTB or a road bike. Is it for commuting, or riding around at a gentle pace, or training for racing? There are women specific designed bikes (WSD's), which have geometries suited to women's normally shorter legs and torsos than men, with the exception of some women, like, erm... ja...never mind. The fit depends on her arm length (how far forward she leans towards the handlebars- if she's stretching, she'll have neck pain), inner leg measurement, shoulder width, and torso length, and others. The bike might be the right size, but the stem may be too long and the seat too far back. If you want your wife to be in it for the long haul and not get fed up, sort it out quickly. The best way to do it if budget allows it, is to go to a bikeshop that gives good service and does fits and get a new bike fitted for your wife. Or else post the measurements here and we'll be able to tell you whether the bike should be a 16 or a 16,5 or an 18 (MTB's). or 50 or a 53 or 54 (road), etc. Then you can buy a bike through the hub. I just bought a dual suss Giant NRS off the hub for my wife- waited and got the right size, picked it up last week- no problems.
  19. Intern, I got a kick out of reading my response to your blog on the site tonight. Guys who want to know more about what happened, check it out.

  23. Can anybody give me a story I can use to get my wife to take a pic of my pins. I mean, I want to avoid a conversation that goes something like: "Paula, please take a photo of my legs. Why? Because I want to post them on the Hub. Why? You selling them? No man, ermmm, I just wanna let the Hubbers see my pins. WHAT! What are you getting up to on the Hub? That's it. Gimme that laptop so I can incinerate it!!" Any suggestions?
  24. I'm telling you, she needed it to fly down this. Why don't you believe me??? Best defence in court- any sane judge would agree.
